Shadowbanish Wine is a rare brand of wine in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion that is only found in Cyrodiil. The wine is of extraordinary value due to not only how little was made, but also the effects it has on the drinker.

Background[]

"Besides tasting incredible, the magic within the wine allows the imbiber to be gifted with Night Eye! The vintner made it special for the Legion soldiers posted at the forts when they were active long ago. It was perfect for keeping lookouts warm on cold nights and helping them see better in the dark. Clever, eh?"
Nerussa[src]

An alchemist who was also a vintner created the wine for the Imperial Legion soldiers who were posted at the forts dotting the countryside. The wine not only tasted good but also granted Night-Eye, making it useful for the night watch.

Bottle locations[]

Two bottles of Shadowbanish wine can be found in each of the following locations:

  • Fort Aurus – A chest the northeast side in the very back room of the dungeon.
  • Fort Carmala – In a chest deep inside the dungeon.
  • Fort Dirich – Deep down in the dungeon in a chest between the wall and the raised coffin in the middle of the hall.
  • Fort Grief – In a chest on the outside top level of this fort.
  • Fort Irony – In a chest in the room where the entrance to cave section is.
  • Fort Magia – Towards the end of the dungeon in a passageway of the Garrison Blocks.
  • Fort Scinia – In the Hall of Legends area of the dungeon.
  • Fort Vlastarus – In a chest behind a pillar next to the locked cage door marked very hard.

Quests[]

A Venerable Vintage[]

Currently the wine is seen as a rarity and fetches a high price from wine collectors. Nerussa, a wine collector at the Wawnet Inn, will pay well if she is brought six bottles.

Trivia[]

  • In The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Vekel the Man says that Gulum-Ei owes him for trying to pass off a bad case of Shadowbanish Wine to him.
  • The wine is not marked as a quest item, meaning that it counts as weight towards encumbrance. It can also be removed from inventory, allowing the Hero to store it while collecting the six bottles required for the quest.
