Walkthrough[]

Upon completing "The Road to Rivenspire," Darien Gautier will inform you of what has been going on in the region. Apparently Baron Wylon Montclair has started a rebellion and is looking to seize control of Shornhelm. Darien will then ask you to head to Shornhelm and talk to Countess Eselde Tamrith to join her cause.

Head to Shornhelm and go to the chapel. You will hear a conversation between the countess and some other nobles where they voice their disagreements on how to handle the situation. When the nobles have left, speak with the countess. She will ask you to investigate Montclair's betrayal and deal with two guards who defected and helped Baron Montclair take over the upper city. Your targets are Juberic Gane and Orlozag gra-Yarzol, both of whom live in the north of the city. This part of town is swarming with Montclair's soldiers though, so take care.

Orlozag will be in the northwestern barracks. Kill her, then head to the prison cells. You will find a chest here with incriminating evidence showing that Montclair is looking to take over all of Shornhelm, and that he is operating from a base in the Fevered Mews. You will also find a man here named Skordo the Knife; speak with him and he will tell you that he was captured by Montclair's troops, and will ask you to let him out. If you do so, he will say he will report back to Baron Alard Dorell.

Next, head to the northeast of town. There will be two buildings in this section of town, both of which are relevant to this quest. On the top floor of the western building, you will find more incriminating evidence showing that Montclair is planning to turn people into vampires to take over Rivenspire. The eastern building, Stornhelm Castle, is where Juberic Gane resides. Kill him, then head back to the chapel to report to Baron Dorell. He will tell you that the enemy general Reezal-Jul has kidnapped some nobles and that you should head to the Fevered Mews to go rescue them. He and the countess will then have a discussion where they agree to a two-pronged approach where they retake the upper city while you're in the Mews.

After that, the countess will ask you to talk to her; she has information on the mews. It is apparently a place where the sick and infirm used to be sent, but it was sealed off some time ago. It's a complex ravine with many caves and an ancient ruin, which she suspects is where Reezal-Jul is operating a portal. If persuaded, she will then reveal the existence of an ancient sewer tunnel that will lead you right to the entrance of the mews. If you don't persuade her, [?]

Head through to the mews. In there, you will find Count Verandis Ravenwatch, who will offer to assist you throughout the mews. You will have to kill at least one of Montclair's henchman here to get your hands on the key needed to free the nobles from their cages. Once you have the key, look for the nobles' cages in the side tunnels. Lady Aurine Tamrith will be in the southwest, Nilthin al-Bergama will be east of that and Sir Estienn Guillon will be in the northeast of the tunnels. Once they are all freed, the quest will direct you to speak with Count Ravenwatch. He will not say anything useful, but will avoid answering your questions as to why he is helping you. Either way, head to the southeast of the tunnels and enter the ancient ruins.

Head to the northeast of the ruins and you will find a portal. Several waves of enemies will come from the portal, and you will have to kill them all to progress. Once they are dealt with, speak with Count Ravenwatch and ask him to close the portal. After it is closed, speak with him again and he will tell you to go and report to High King Emeric, who has recently arrived in Shornhelm.

Emeric will be in the castle. Speak with him to finish the quest.

Journal[]

Journal Entry
Countess Tamrith is meeting with the other nobles in the Shornhelm chapel. I should go there and talk to her.
I should speak with Countess Eselde Tamrith and offer my assistance.
  • Objective: Talk to Countess Tamrith
Countess Tamrith has asked me to eliminate the traitors who helped Montclair take control of the upper city. She also wants me to find evidence that may shed light on Montclair's unusually aggressive behavior.
I dealt with the traitors and discovered that Baron Montclair isn't in Shornhelm. He's left his general, Reezal-Jul, to oversee the occupation. They plan to bring in more reinforcements through the Fevered Mews. I should let Baron Dorell know.
I need to make my way to the Fevered Mews so that I can free the captured nobles and stop Reezal-Jul from bringing in more reinforcements.
  • Objective: Enter the Fevered Mews
  • Hint: Countess Eselde mentioned that the abandoned cistern under Shornhelm could be a shortcut to reach the entrance to Fevered Mews.
I met Count Verandis Ravenwatch when I entered the Fevered Mews. He says he's here to help me. I'll take him at his word and try to find a way to set the captured nobles free.
  • Objective: Find Key to Unlock Nobles' Cells
I found a key on one of the guards, so now I need to free the nobles from their cages.
With the help of Verandis Ravenwatch, I free the captured nobles. Now I need to stop Reezal-Jul from gaining reinforcements by confronting him in the ruins farther inside the Fevered Mews.
Reezal-Jul escaped after opening a portal for his reinforcements to arrive through. I must defeat the reinforcements and find a way to stop more from coming through the portal before it's too late.
  • Objective: Stop Reinforcements
  • Objective: Close the Portal
With the help of Verandis Ravenwatch, I stopped reinforcements from coming in through the Fevered Mews. Shornhelm should be safe. I should speak to Verandis before reporting back to the house leaders.
Verandis believes that the upper city is back in the control of Countess Tamrith and Baron Dorell. He said I should find them in Shornhelm Castle, along with High King Emeric, and tell them what transpired in the Fevered Mews.
Now that Shornhelm is safe, I should talk to High King Emeric and figure out what happens next.
  • Objective: Talk to High King Emeric

Updates[]
