Some of the Silver-Blood Family

Thongvor on the left, Thonar on the right, and Betrid is the one below.

"You outsiders never learn. If the Forsworn don't get you, the guards will throw you in Cidhna Mine to work your fingers off. Think that's water in the river? Blood and silver are what flows through Markarth, friend."
Yngvar the Singer[src]

The Silver-Bloods are a family of wealthy silver miners located in Markarth. They own most of the city and use prisoners to mine silver in Cidhna Mine, the prison of Markarth. They are proud supporters of Ulfric Stormcloak. They are the wealthiest and most powerful family in Markarth, and are similar to Riften's Black-Briar family. They own and preside over the Silver-Blood Inn. The family has clashed repeatedly with the growing faction of Forsworn in the Reach. This conflict is capitalized on during the quests "The Forsworn Conspiracy" and "No One Escapes Cidhna Mine."

Silver-Blood Family[]

The Silver-Blood Family as interacted with in Skyrim consists of:

  • Thonar Silver-Blood – the most prominent member of the Silver-Blood family, despite being the younger brother of Thongvor. Has a shaky alliance with the Forsworn, which is a leading factor in the events of the quests The Forsworn Conspiracy and No One Escapes Cidhna Mine.
  • Thongvor Silver-Blood – the older brother of Thonar, Thongvor acts as the family's liaison to Jarl Igmund. He is a strong supporter of Ulfric Stormcloak. He disapproves of the Thalmor's presence in Skyrim, and holds a deep hatred for the Forsworn. He becomes the new Jarl of Markarth in the event of a Stormcloak victory following the Civil War questline.
  • Betrid Silver-Blood – Thonar's wife. She is very open about the fact that she only married him for his wealth. During the course of The Forsworn Conspiracy, depending on the Dragonborn's choices, she might get killed by the undercover Forsworn agents Nana Ildene and Donnel.

Trivia[]

  • It is possible to completely eradicate the Silver-Blood family from Markarth. Betrid is killed during The Forsworn Conspiracy, Thonar can be killed during or after "No One Escapes Cidhna Mine," and Thongvor can be exiled from The Reach, should the Dragonborn give Markarth to the Stormcloaks and retake it for the Imperial Legion during the Civil War.
