The Silver Greatsword is a Two-Handed weapon found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

This sword can be found almost exclusively on members of the Silver Hand, who are frequently encountered on quests for the Companions. Silver Hand strongholds are at the following locations:

The silver greatsword's inherent effect increases its damage by 20 points when used against undead such as draugr, skeletons, Dragon Priest, vampires and re-animated corpses. Despite not being undead, Werewolves and Werebears are also affected.

The effect is not a normal enchantment, so it is affected by the Elemental Fury shout and silver greatswords may be enchanted at an arcane enchanter to stack with its inherent ability. The description "Especially effective against Undead" will remain.

The silver greatsword cannot be crafted or upgraded at a grindstone.

  • When placed on a weapon rack, it is possible for the greatsword to fall off onto the floor, rendering the rack unusable.
  •  360   If the Dragonborn has more than one silver greatsword in their inventory when they go to jail, additional swords may be added upon their release from jail. This also happens with silver swords.
