Skakmat (Dovahzul: 
, "[?]") is Nulfaga's dragon familiar, in which helps Nulfaga with varying tasks. When Nulfaga exiled herself to castle Shedungent, she left Skakmat behind so that it could frequently inform her on the events of the Iliac Bay.[1]
The strange fog which swoop over the Battle of Cryngaine Field was actually caused by Skakmat, who, under Nulfaga's orders, was attempting to prevent the battle due to Nulfaga foreseeing the death of her son, King Lysandus.[1]
