Not to be confused with Skjorta or Private Skjor.

Skjor is a Nordic member of the Companions and one of The Circle as well as a Werewolf. According to dialogue between various Companions, Skjor is one of the highest-ranked members of The Circle, quite possibly next to Kodlak Whitemane.

He carries a Skyforge Steel Sword and is equipped with Wolf Armor.

Background

"You still need to prove yourself, whelp."
―Skjor[src]

Before becoming a Companion, he fought in the Great War against the Third Aldmeri Dominion before becoming critically injured in the fighting. After he recovered from his injuries, he became a sellsword for hire across Skyrim, and eventually joined the Companions.

The Silver Hand

During the Proving Honor quest, the Dragonborn learns Skjor and the other members of the Circle are werewolves. Shortly after their initiation into the Circle, Skjor helps the Dragonborn become a werewolf as well. However, he is killed by the Silver Hand when he ventures into one of their strongholds to scout it out for the Dragonborn and Aela.

Dialogue

"Haven't seen your face before. I'm watching you."

Where do you stand on the war? "None of our business. There's no honor to be had in the squabbling of jarls."
Why did you join the Companions? "I learned the ways of the blade in the Great War. Nearly lost my life outside the Imperial City. I came home to Skyrim when it was all over. But I wasn't much good at anything other than fighting. Wandered around as a blade for hire. Was a damned good one, too. The money was good, and the women were good, and the drinks were good. But I was losing myself. My heart. I was lucky the Companions found me. Now there's a reason to be fighting. The honor of my brothers and sisters is worth more than coin. Of course, the money is still good. And the drinks!"
Who are the Companions? "Ask any fool around here, and get a different answer. Mercenaries. Warriors of honor. Brothers and sisters of the blade. Drunken rabble. Take your pick. I've been here longer than most of them. Even I don't know sometimes. I just hope they don't kill each other."
Can I join the Companions? "So you think you have what it takes? Huh. Lucky for you, I'm not the one who makes that decision. Talk to Kodlak. Who knows, maybe he's in a generous mood."

"I'll take my leave, then."

The Companions

"You still need to prove yourself, whelp."

What does it mean to be a Companion? "I wish more of our ranks asked such questions. I've started seeing the Companions as a kind of family. I've battled next to every man and woman here, and the bonds of sweat are stronger than those of blood. I would trust anyone here with my life, which is more than I'd say for the milk drinkers who raised me."

Inside Jorrvaskr:

"Ah, there you are."
"There you are."

You wanted to see me? "I did. Your time, it seems, has come."
What do you mean? "Last week a scholar came to us. He said he knew where we could find another fragment of Wuuthrad. He seemed a fool to me, but if he's right, the honor of the Companions demands that we seek it out."
What does this have to do with me? "This is a simple errand, but the time is right for it to be your Trial. Carry yourself with honor, and you'll become a true Companion."
I would be honored to retrieve it. "There's a fine line between respect and boot-licking, new blood. But I like your spirit. We've decided this will be your trial. Do well, and you'll be counted among the Companions."
"Farkas will be your Shield-Sibling on this venture, whelp. He'll answer any questions you have. Try not to disappoint. Or to get him killed."

If approached again:

"You still need to prove yourself, whelp."

What is Wuuthrad? "Wuuthrad is a relic of Ysgramor. Through that weapon, we trace our line straight to the first harbinger of mankind in this land. What fragments we have are displayed in honor, but we always seek more."

I'm looking for work. "We've received a desperate missive. A citizen of the Reach (Or "Haafingar", "Hjaalmarch", "the Pale", "Eastmarch", "Falkreath", "Whiterun", "the Rift", "Winterhold", "Skyrim") has been kidnapped. The Companions have been asked for assistance, and we shall answer. Particularly when the pay is as good as this. Get moving. I shudder to think what might happen if you're too late."

If the victim was killed:

Abelone (Victim) was killed. "Unfortunate. Let's be more careful next time."

After saving the victim:

I rescued Abelone (Victim). "So I hear. You've brought honor to the Companions and yourself."

Show: Escaped Criminal

I'm looking for work.

"It sounds like Eastmarch is too busy with their war to keep their own prisoners in line."
"The braggarts in the Reach always claim that no prisoner escapes their mine. What you don't hear about are the ones who break off from escorts on the way to Markarth."
"Haafingar seems to have trouble keeping their prisoners in line."
"I'm sorry to have to send you to Hjaalmarch. I can't stand the smell of it myself. But it seems their criminals can't either and just want to get out."
"It seems that law-breakers in the Pale have no desire to stay there. I don't blame them."
"The idiots in Falkreath still think the best place for prisoners is that hole in the ground. No surprise, but one of them's gotten out. Again."
"The so-called prison in Riften leaks like one of their fishnets. This is what happens when you let thieves run your town. The prisoners just walk right out."
"One of the guards from Dragonsreach came to me, worried about a prisoner who's escaped. The Jarl has too much on his mind right now, we won't be troubling him with this."
"The snowberries up in Winterhold have lowered themselves to ask for our help. For some reason they just throw their lawbreakers out into the sea and think that ends the problem. But every now and then, one swims back."
"One of them's escaped, and you're going to find that coward. At this point they don't care what happens to him (Or "her") and neither do I. Best to just kill him (Or "her") and be done with it."
I'll take care of it. "Be careful. This man (Or "woman") is known to be dangerous."
I'd rather not get involved.
"We choose our battles, and you've chosen yours. Someone else can take care of it."
"Unfortunate, but someone else will take care of it."
"I see. Well, should you change your mind, the contract will be available for a while."

After dealing with the criminal:

That criminal won't be a problem anymore.

"Bit by bit, we bring honor to this land. And you've brought honor to the Companions. More importantly, some gold."
"Another job well done. Your payment is secure, and you have my thanks."
Show: Family Heirloom

I'm looking for work.

"We have a bit of a sensitive matter this time. A wealthy family has... misplaced one of their heirlooms."
"Just in time. I was worried I'd have to do this myself. Some rich folk had a trinket stolen and they want us to get it back."
"I tell you this province is losing its grip. The bandits become more brazen every day."
"Some don't even believe they exist, but the Falmer can be devious. Tunneling into homes, stealing off with valuables."
"Those hill people who call themselves "the Forsworn" show no mercy."
"Giants don't usually cause problems like this, but these ones are stirred up for some reason."
"The rumors say the culprits are vampires. I try not to listen to swaggle like that, but figured you should know."
"Of course, it's a group of wizards they're pointing their fingers at. Who knows what they want it for, but we want it back."
I'll get it back.
"Good, good. These aren't the most glorious jobs, but they pay well."
"Move quickly so we can have this over and done with."
"We're trusting you on this one. Bring honor to the Companions."
Let's have somebody else do that.
"Can't say I blame you. I'll find someone to take care of it."
"Not the response I was hoping for, but suit yourself."
"I see. Well, should you change your mind, the contract will be available for a while."

After retrieving the item:

I retrieved the family's Steel Sword (Heirloom).

"Give it here. They've asked for the utmost discretion on this matter, so I'll make sure it gets to them. Here's your share of their reward."
"And it looks undamaged. They'll be pleased, I'm sure. And we're pleased with their money."
"Nice work with this one. You make us all proud."

Inside Jorrvaskr:

"Ah, there you are."

You wanted to see me? "Yes. I have something a little different planned this time. But it's not for everyone to hear. Meet me in the Underforge tonight. We will speak more."
Where is this Underforge? "I forget you've never seen it. Beneath the Skyforge, where Eorlund works. The door is hidden, but I will show you the way."

If approached again:

"Not now. The Underforge, tonight."

Near the Underforge:

"Are you prepared?"

What is this place? "Here's all you need to know. Jorrvaskr is the oldest building in Skyrim. The Skyforge was here long before it was. And the Underforge taps an ancient magic that is older than men or elves. We bring you here to make you stronger, new blood. Now let's move."
I'm ready for whatever test is next. "This is no test, new blood. This is a gift. Come inside."

Inside the Underforge:

"I'm glad you came. It's been a long time since we had a heart like yours among our numbers. That pitiful ceremony at the hall does not befit warriors like us. You are due more honor than some calls and feasting. I would hope you recognize Aela, even in this form. She's agreed to be your forebear. We do this in secret because Kodlak is too busy trying to throw away this great gift we've been granted. He thinks we've been cursed. But we've been blessed. How can something that gives this kind of prowess be a curse? So we take matters into our own hands. To reach the heights of the Companions, you must join with us in the shared blood of the wolf."
"Are you prepared to join your spirit with the beast world, friend?"

What if I don't want to be a werewolf? "That is your choice. We will not force you. But to join the Circle, your blood must be as ours. Meet us here when you're ready."
I'm ready. "Very well."

Conversations

Take Up Arms

Skjor: "I told you, this is the whelp that Vilkas mentioned." Aela: "Ah, yes. I heard you gave him quite a thrashing." Skjor: "Don't let Vilkas catch you saying that."
[After talking to Aela]
Skjor: "Farkas!" Farkas: "Did you call me?" Aela: "Of course we did, icebrain. Show this newblood where the rest of the whelps sleep." Farkas: "New blood? Oh, hello. I'm Farkas. Come, follow me."

Proving Honor

Kodlak: "Brothers and sisters of the Circle, today we welcome a new soul into our mortal fold. This man has endured, has challenged, and has shown his valor. Who will speak for him?" Farkas: "I stand witness to the courage of the soul before us." Kodlak: "Would you raise your shield in his defense?" Farkas: "I would stand at his back, that the world might never overtake us." Kodlak: "And would you raise your sword in his honor?" Farkas: "It stands ready to meet the blood of his foes." Kodlak: "And would you raise a mug in his name?" Farkas: "I would lead the song of triumph as our mead hall reveled in his stories." Kodlak: "Then the judgment of this Circle is complete. His heart beats with fury and courage that have united the Companions since the days of the distant green summers. Let it beat with ours, that the mountains may echo and our enemies may tremble at the call." Aela: "It shall be so." Skjor: "It shall be so." Vilkas: "It shall be so."

Aela the Huntress

Skjor: "All these younglings scampering around." Aela: "Worried one of them is going to take your place?" Skjor: "Some of them might try. But that's not what I'm worried about." Aela: "What then?" Skjor: "That they might get themselves killed." Aela: "By you?" Skjor: "They should be so lucky."

Skjor: "Are you prepared for tonight's hunt?" Aela: "I've been thinking we need to be more... discreet." Skjor: "There's nothing wrong with what we're doing." Aela: "You know the old man doesn't like it. Let's just not be too obvious."

Kodlak Whitemane

Kodlak: "Tradition is very important to me, son." Skjor: "To me as well. I think we don't see the same tradition at play here." Kodlak: "If you want to lead this pack when I'm gone, you have to see farther. Look closer." Skjor: "Well which is it? Look farther or closer?" Kodlak: "Come on now, boy, you know what I meant..." Skjor: "You speak in riddles sometimes." Kodlak: "I don't mean to confuse you." Skjor: "It's not confusing... just frustrating." Kodlak: "You're a strong warrior, Skjor. Your heart is fiery and that serves you well in battle." Skjor: "Thank you, Harbinger." Kodlak: "But even the bravest of men consider their actions. I want you to survive long enough to take the mantle." Skjor: "Don't worry about me."

Njada Stonearm

Skjor: "Heard you had a bit of trouble near Solitude last week." Njada: "Just those same ruffians I was bringing in for the Shatter-Shields. So much wasted breath in that crew." Skjor: "I'm imagining you just standing your ground and letting them tire themselves out." Njada: "I'm telling you, it works. Let them ring their own ears on my shield, then scoop them up off the ground." Skjor: "We all have different means to glory, Stonearm. Well done."

Skjor: "I've got a bad grip on my shield, could you take a look at it?" Njada: "I'm a warrior, not a blacksmith." Skjor: "Can't you just tell me if the grip is bad?" Njada: "If Eorlund made it, it's more likely you're gripping it wrong. Find me tomorrow and we can go over it."

  •  PC   360   PS3   XB1   Skjor may still be found alive after being killed in the quest The Silver Hand. He will continue to state that the Dragonborn still needs to prove his or herself, even after reaching the noble rank of Harbinger. He will wander around Jorrvaskr and act just like he did when he was alive. This may or may not be due to Skjor being part of a different faction, causing him to re-spawn when his character should die during the quest. Certain important characters re-spawn after being dead for one game month. In addition, he can also be found during a random encounter in the wilderness with a few other companions. He has been found both fully functional, and sometimes stuck in the ground, making no actions, but he can be interacted with. It is likely that after this encounter, he can be found once again in Jorvasskr, and will be able to give quests regarding "Speak to the Companions Leaders for work." Skjor can also be found wandering Skyrim without his shoes after being killed during "The Silver Hand" quest.
    •  PC (Fix)   Solution: Open the console and type disable after clicking Skjor.
    • Solution: You can kill Skjor and may or may not receive a bounty.
  •  PC   360   PS3   Sometime after finishing the quest "The Silver Hand" Skjor may be found walking around in an area. He retains all of his equipment, moves around, but has no animations. Skjor cannot be interacted with, but he can be killed.
  •  PC   360   PS3   Skjor's corpse may spawn, fully clothed in his room in Jorrvaskr.
  •  360   Skjor may respawn in Gallow's Rock after becoming the Harbinger.
  • If a quest received from Skjor if he's back alive is successfully finished and the reward collected, the game may freeze on the loading screen when leaving Jorrvaskr.
  • In some cases, Skjor can be found dead in his room beside his chair. His wolf armor can be looted.
  • After installing a patch, and after completing the whole Companion Questline, Skjor is resurrected and his body on Gallow's Rock is removed. In addition, he is non essential, and can still give tasks.
  • Skjor can be floating around Darkwater Crossing without armor and his body halfway in the ground he also can be attacked but can't attack back and he appears to hold a leather shield. He also appears to be missing his right arm.
  • Using the Unrelenting Force shout against the bugged Skjor will result in him respawning nearby in normal form.
  • Skjor may respawn and somehow become trapped underneath the table in Traitor's Post but will remain invisible. You cannot pickpocket or do damage to him in said state. Using the Unrelenting Force shout, however, will cause him to blow out from under the table wearing no armor or clothing but equipped with a Skyforge Sword, Skyforge Dagger, and Hide Shield.
