Songs of the Return are a 56-volume series of books. The author of these books is unknown, and unfortunately, most of the volumes have been lost and only eight of them remain.

As the name suggests these books tell stories of the time period in the late Merethic Era known as the Return. Each book is dedicated to a great event or deed done by Ysgramor and his Five Hundred Companions. These include founding of such great cities as Whiterun and Windhelm.
