History

First Era

In the late first era, the city of Southpoint was founded by Colovian Governor Zantonius of Kvatch. Zantonius was a member of the Imperial Legion of the Second Empire. He was stationed at Reman's Bluff before the Barkbite Clan occupied the fort. After defending the bluff from Wood Orcs, he was given a cohort of soldiers to build another fort in the Grahtwood region. He marched southwards to the Long Coast and when he planted his spear into the soil, he proclaimed the land be known as Southpoint.[1]

Second Era

During the Alliance War, Southpoint was under the rule of Mayor Aulus. While under the control of Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness, Southpoint along with Aulus succumbed to madness and began to murder each other in the streets causing a large pandemonium in Grahtwood. The First Aldmeri Dominion had to be sent in to quell the chaos in the city. The Vestige had arrived into the town to seek someone to operate The Orrery in Elden Root. Daraneth of Southpoint was the perfect candidate for the Orrery and the Vestige was sent there to retrieve her.[2]

The Dominion Troopers stationed at Southpoint tasked the Vestige into retrieving soldiers sent in and to investigating the town with Daraneth to see what caused the Madness to take hold of Southpoint. After learning about Sheogorath's influence, the Vestige defeated Mayor Aulus at the Cathedral of the Golden Path and Sheogorath left the town alone. Afterwards, the Vestige brought Daraneth to Elden Root to ratify Queen Ayrenn as the true leader of the Aldmeri Dominion.[2]

During the Imperial Simulacrum, the Eternal Champion had at one point visited the city in their quest for a piece of the Staff of Chaos.
