Steel Ingots are used to craft and improve steel weapons and armor via smithing in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It is unique in that it requires 2 different ores to be created.

Smelting

The following materials are need to smelt a single steel ingot :

If the player does not wish to make them, they can be found in shops, or as loot from enemies.

Locations

  • If the player chooses to side with Hadvar at the beginning of the game there are 5 steel ingots at Alvor's Workshop under the Workbench or you can steal them at night if you sided with Ralof.
  • In Embershard Mine there is a chance of looting them from the bandits.
  • Merchants start selling them at level 5.
  • Sometimes can be found right next to the workbench in Whiterun.
