Stonefalls is a zone in central Morrowind in The Elder Scrolls Online that features diverse landscapes ranging from fungal forests to barren volcanic crags.[1] Ash from the Velothi Mountains and Ash Mountain covers most of the region, providing fertile land despite the constant heat and lava flow. Stonefalls is home to the namesake city of the Ebonheart Pact, as it is where the invading Akaviri forces were defeated by the Nord, Dunmer and Argonian alliance.[2]

Background[]

"The ashfall from the volcanoes of the Velothi Mountains and from great Ash Mountain itself is Stonefalls' bane and benefit, fertilizing the soil where the land isn't too arid to grow crops. It was here that the recent invading army from Akavir met its bloody end."

In the final battle of the Akaviri invasion, the Nords of Eastern Skyrim led by Jorunn and Wulfharth, the Dunmer led by Almalexia, and a phalanx of Argonian shellbacks led by a trio of reptilian battlemages, broke the Akaviri line and drove them into the sea, where they drowned by the thousands.[3]

Stonefalls' geography varies from place to place. Daen Seeth, a region in the east, is home to the great volcano Ash Mountain which is constantly erupting, and thus the surrounding land is burned and charred, but in the city of Davon's Watch, not far off from Ash Mountain, the land is green and hilly with fungal features, like the neighboring zone Bal Foyen.[1]

Zabamat and Varanis, regions in the west and in central Stonefalls respectively, are mostly hilly, barren volcanic landscapes. Another great volcano, the Tormented Spire, looms over the city of Kragenmoor in the southwest, but unlike Ash Mountain, it is not constantly churning out molten rock and lava.[1] In northern Zabamat lies the Ebonheart Pact-owned Fort Virak, which protects the border with Skyrim from the wild creatures of Stonefalls.[2] Also in Zabamat is the Fungal Grotto, the enormous base of the Murkwater Goblins and a hidden shrine to Mephala.[1]

In Varanis, the central region of Stonefalls, lies the city of Ebonheart, which is home to a large population of Argonians, who are highly distrustful of the Dunmer living in the city.[4]

Quests[]

Stonefalls features a series of zone story quests and unrelated side quests. The zone story quests tie into the Ebonheart Pact's overarching storyline and carries on from Bal Foyen before continuing to Deshaan, but it is not necessary to complete the story quests for zones prior to those in Stonefalls. Side quests are non-sequential and can be completed in any order, except where one carries on from another, and repeatable quests can be completed multiple times: weekly for arenas and trials and daily for all others. Pointer quests are optional zone quests that send the Vestige to the tarting location of another zone quest.

Item Sets[]

Item sets are related armor and weapons that, when worn together, provide unique benefits. Overland sets can be acquired from world bosses, world events, delves, public dungeons and containers and as quest rewards; dungeon sets can be acquired from within group dungeons; monster sets can be acquired from the final boss of veteran group dungeons and Undaunted Enclaves; and crafted sets can be created at specific locations across the zone.

Skyshards[]

Sixteen Skyshards can be found in Stonefalls totaling in five skill points with one left over. The zone guide provides clues as to the location of each Skyshard, but many can be found simply by exploring and watching for the distinctive pillar of light they emit. Skyshards will appear on the map and compass when the Vestige is close to one and will remain discovered on the map even if it was not collected.

Achievements[]

Achievements can be earned by completing specific tasks such as completing quests and discovering locations. Achievements are separated into categories and their progress is viewable from the journal. Earning achievement provides the Vestige a number of points, and some achievements unlock unique rewards such as furnishings that can be bought from Achievement Furnishers or collectibles.

Fish[]

Fish can be caught from fishing hotspots, ideally with the correct bait. Common fish will be caught most often while rare fish and alternative bait are rare catches. Each zone has unique rare fish than can be caught from hotspots. Slaughterfish and trodh can be caught from foul hotspots, dhufish and longfin can be caught from saltwater hotspots, silverside perch and spadetail can be caught from lake hotspots, and salmon and river betty can be caught from river hotspots. Chub, minnow, shad and fish roe can be caught and used as bait from foul, saltwater, lake and river hotspots, respectively.
