Starting the Quest.Edit

Almost all the residents of The Bannered Mare are dead and the living ones don't have rumours. Is there another way to start the Quest or can a key be found without starting the quest? RedMarston (talk) 19:45, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

I need to know this too... Glennith2012 (talk) 17:08, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

Also this quest is only available at level 25 or higher, not level 20 as stated.

It is not correct that it is only available at level 20. I have received it at level 21.

Ginger Snaps refference?Edit

I LOVE the Ginger Snaps movies, the first being my favorite movie of all time, but how is this quest a possible refference to Back? o.O -- Lyco499 (talk) 04:41, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

Added info on removed quest scriptsEdit

I've added data to the trivia on a lot of removed quest content. It can be found in the original game data files, referencing to an alternate, more elaborate proceeding of the The Whispering Door quest. Saratje (talk) 20:14, May 11, 2012 (UTC)

Still available? Edit

Is this quest still completable once Jarl Balgruuf has been replaced with Vignar Gray-Mane? — Somarinoa (talk) 07:39, December 16, 2012 (UTC)

easy pick pocket Edit

just a fyi that overnight (about 3-4am in game) the guards will leave the hall, no cleaner ladies will be at the front, preventus will leave and while the dark elf stays next to throne the Jarl will sit at foot of table on the left of his throne (so if you walk into dragons reach he is on closest side on the right table). with where he sits his "body gaurd" does not have line of sight to him and it is easy to pick pocket key and walk back over to the whispering door in one go. have tried this a 1/2 dozen times and the security is always the same.

looks like the guy in bannered mare was right about the security in whiterun. 11:33, May 28, 2013 (UTC)

Mephala never tells me to take the blade Edit

I am using a PS3 with the 1.9 patch installed, and tiomes for Mephala's dialogue don's match with what I experienced. She revealed herself to me before I got the key to unlock the door. More importaltly, she never told me anything about the Ebony Blade. Once I unlocked the door, the quest marker just moved in top of it, and I had a new objective to take the blade. She never spoke until after I took the blade. Has anhone else seen this?Cubears (talk) 21:39, June 22, 2014 (UTC)
