The Bitter Cup is a Thieves Guild quest available in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

Objectives[]

  1. Talk to Gentleman Jim Stacey in Simine Fralinie: Bookseller in the Vivec City, Foreign Quarter.
  2. Go to Ald Redaynia and find the Bittercup.
  3. Retrieve the Bittercup.
  4. Go to the Balmora Fighters Guild and talk to Eydis Fire-Eye.
  5. Return to Gentleman Jim Stacey to complete the quest.

Walkthrough[]

Upon completing "Speak with Percius," Gentleman Jim Stacey will try to use the information the Nerevarine obtained to sway more Fighters Guild members. Since Eydis Fire-Eye is a worshipper of Clavicus Vile, he sends the Nerevarine after a long-lost artifact of Clavicus, the Bittercup, in order to bribe her with it. He directs the Nerevarine to Ald Redaynia, the last known location of the Bittercup.

Ald Redaynia is located in Sheogorad, north of Urshilaku Camp. The place is inhabited by undead creatures, so bring a weapon that can hurt them. Bringing lockpicks and probes is also recommended. Upon entering Ald Redaynia, there will be a trapped door on the right with a level 75 lock. Head through and you will find yourself in a room with several undead enemies, and a stairway on the other side of the room. Head up the stairway and you will find the Bittercup, guarded by a Skeleton War-Wizard who carries a Vampiric Ring. Grab the cup and get out. Do not drink from the cup, as this will cause the cup to disappear, making it impossible to bribe Eydis Fire-Eye.

Head to Balmora and speak with Eydis Fire-Eye at the Fighters Guild. She will be willing to betray the Camonna Tong if you give her the Bittercup.

Head back to Gentleman Jim Stacey to collect your reward.

Alternatively, if you chose to drink from the Bitter Cup, it is possible to kill Eydis Fire-Eye and still finish the quest, though there will be no reward.
