Verandis completed his research and discovered that his missing memories lead to an ancient ruin in the Lorkrata Hills. He needs my help to discover the secret hidden within the ruins.

Verandis is standing outside Lorkrata Hills. He is eager to know why the ruins located here were kept out of his memories. He has located a trap door and asks the Vestige to find a way to unlock it, after which he will meet them at the west tower. He warns the Vestige to be careful, fearing the enemy is one step ahead of them. Upon entering the Ruins, Verandis will notice a veil has been cast upon the ruins. He believes Lleraya had anticipated his arrival and cast the veil to serve as an obstacle.
When spoken to, Verandis explains that the veil is a simple illusion spell meant to hide the true topography and make them see exactly what Lleraya wants them to see. He further adds that Lleraya is amplifying the spell by using the power of the Lightless Remnant. Verandis notes Lleraya hadn't been expecting the Vestige, meaning they can guide them through the veil using the tears that litter the illusion. By examining the veil, the Vestige is able to widen the tear and see the path ahead as it truly is. However, the Vestige and Verandis must fight their way through because they have disturbed the ancient ruin and awoken its guardians.
As the Vestige and Verandis progress through the ruin, the Vestige must locate various tears and reveal the true path kept hidden from them. Once the last veil has been dealt with, Verandis will direct the Vestige through the double doors. On the other side, Verandis will pass through another set of doors and locate the book they have been searching for.
The book proves to be an intact volume of Ayleid lore. Verandis is surprised to learn, however, that it talks about the Remnant of Light before it became corrupted. It mentions the Remnant requires a vessel to make full use of its limitless potential. It is deduced that Baron Montclair is the vessel. By breaking the vessel, Verandis learns, they also break the relic. Upon leaving the ruin through a veil, the Vestige can speak to Verandis again and he will tell them of his intent to use the Ayleid book to help in their journeys ahead. Verandis promptly awards the Vestige for their help at the ruins.

I need to head to the hills northeast of Shornhelm to meet up with Verandis Ravenwatch.

Lleraya has placed an illusory veil over the ruins. It changes the topography and makes us see only what she wants us to see. Verandis believes the speel was specifically designed to hinder him. I should examine the tear and see if I can affect it.

We need to explore these ruins to find the Ayleid artifact that Verandis seeks. To navigate through the illusory veil, Verandis needs me to manipulate the tears that he can't affect due to Lleraya's spell.

I followed Verandis to an ornate book pedestal. I should give him a moment to examine the ancient tome resting upon it.

Verandis finished examining the ancient book and collected it from the pedestal. I should talk to him and ask him if that was what we were looking for.

We located an ancient Ayleid tome that contains information about the Lightless Remnant. Verandis needs to study the archaic writing. In the meantime, I should try to find another tear so we can get out from under Lleraya's veil.

We made it out of the Lorkrata ruins with an ancient Ayleid text that may hold the answers we need to eventually defeat Baron Montclair. In the meantime, I should talk to Verandis and see how he wants to proceed.
