The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is the 2025 full remastering and re-release of 2006's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the fourth entry in The Elder Scrolls. A single-player role-playing action-adventure video game, Oblivion Remastered returns to a troubled Cyrodiil during the Third Era. Shortly before his assassination, the Emperor of Tamriel Uriel Septim VII meets an unknown prisoner, who will change the course of the Empire's history, as a race against time begins to stop Mehrunes Dagon's daedric invasion of Tamriel.

Setting[]

Set six years following the events of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Oblivion Remastered follows the assassination of Uriel Septim VII, a longtime driving force in The Elder Scrolls. With the Emperor's death, and the assassination of all but one of his heirs, a special planar barrier between Oblivion and Tamriel has now ceased to exist. Just before his death, Septim hands the Amulet of Kings over to an unknown prisoner whom he had prophesied about previously, who would eventually become the Hero of Kvatch, and tells them to "close shut the jaws of Oblivion."

Mehrunes Dagon begins his assault on Tamriel in full force, opening Oblivion Gates to destroy cities with his armies of daedra. On a mission to Jauffre, the Hero must find the only living, yet illegitimate, son of Uriel, Martin Septim, and restore the barrier against Oblivion.
