I nominate Balagog because he is an exceptionally active user, and I cannot come online without him being on an editing spree. He has a very high reputation on this wiki, his rank being 10, but i have no doubt it will increase yet; he holds many achievements for being active. His attitude to the wiki is of a high quality, and he respects his duty to it. I am sure that he will be a great choice for a patroller. Alin Carter (talk) 18:50, August 3, 2012 (UTC)

Support[edit source]

Voting-support.svg Support – Although rank and achievements are no indication for if a person is suitable to be a patroller, I would still support Balagog as his recent work and attitude has been solid and he is very active on the wiki. Jimeee (talk) 18:56, August 3, 2012 (UTC)

Voting-support.svg Support – Balagog has been a great help on the wiki and he already fights vandalism everyday as it is. He would be a welcome addition as a Patroller. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 03:02, August 4, 2012 (UTC)

Voting-support.svg Support – Expanding on what Jimeee said, high edit counts and adherence to the wiki's style surely boosts one's case when applying for a staff position, but it is not required. What we need is a dedicated individual who is willing to ensure New Pages are up to stuff, one who ceaselessly scouts out and removes vandalism, and a friendly individual who is willing to point users towards policies and guide pages when they need help. I feel that Gog definitely fits the bill and am surprised we waited so long to nominate him. So long as he uses the rollback tools advantageously and continues to be an active editor and community member, I see no harm. --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 03:25, August 4, 2012 (UTC)

Voting-comment.svg Comment – Mask, this is the third time within two days that you haven't signed your comments. You know better. Please don't do it again, or we'll just remove your comments next time. Anyway, to answer your question, the editors can vote how they want. Most of us are agreeable, forgiving folk who like to give people chances. Besides, I see no reason why Balagog should not be a patroller, unless one is unwilling to forgive the whole, "Dar is a bot" business, which Gog has clearly graduated beyond. Certainly, I hope users aren't editing with the crowd to avoid conflicts etc. I would certainly vote "no" if I felt someone didn't deserve the tools. Most definitely. —This unsigned comment is by Deyvid Petteys (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Aside from Mask, GramsJ, and Loonix, I have not personally nominated many patrollers to the wiki. I prefer to nominate admins, or prepare my acolytes for adminship to the best of my ability. Having edited Wikia for over a year, I've also seen many editors come and go. It's difficult to find good eggs that stay past their "hatching". Bad food puns aside, I believe, given Jay's track record, that he would benefit from having the rollback tool. Not only for being a trusted user, but for being a valued contributor and excellent vandalism patroller. He has uploaded many gorgeous 3D renders of Oblivion armors, and given the current status of articles on games older than Skyrim, we could use more editors willing to edit those pages with text, item stats, and images. With the rollback tool, he could quickly keep those articles clean. Given the influx of edits that may appear as a result of Dawnguard being released on PC, and soon to be released on PS3, having another patroller could prove to be advantageous. Granted, we are already under-staffed as is. Of course, there is always The Elder Scrolls Online to prepare for as well. Allies could help us ensure a smooth release date.

Also, in the last week of June (as evidenced here and here), Jay was highly active as a vandalism patroller. Occasionally, even to the exclusion of the wiki's actual patrollers. Additionally, he has been a half-operator and a custodian on the wiki for several weeks now. He has employed these tools well, from what I have observed, and will only improve with time. I am willing to take him under my wing and form a sort of "Doom of Damocles " if need be.

Oppose[edit source]

Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – I don't think Crazy is experienced enough with the wiki at the moment to jump straight to Patroller. By his own admission he needs to improve his edits, and looking at his edit history I agree. His grammar is a weak point and will be an issue. While he does revent vandalism from time to time, he has only used the VIP page twice - if this is not used then admins won't always know about vandalism. These are duties expected of a patroller - the yellow name isn't a badge of honor or a pat on the back - it's a job (often a tedious one) with certain expectations. Failure to meet these expectations only hurts the wiki.

As for him letting other users know about policy, our records show he has posted on a total of six user talk pages and all of the users he has talked to are either admins or experienced users. Further investigation reveals these interactions are nothing like Deyvid has mentioned, rather they are further evidence that Crazy is too inexperienced at this point. Again, Grammar and punctuation is an issue on these. Lastly, he forgot to sign his post on his comment on this very page - a minor thing we have all done - but something a patroller should not really forget. Jimeee (talk) 21:52, December 10, 2013 (UTC)

Voting-comment.svg Comment – Despite the qualms presented here, Crazy has shown significant improvement in regards to editing and talk page etiquette. I do believe the editor's incessant reporting of vandalism, unproductive editing, and UESP copyright violations far exceeds any other infraction or concern expressed here. --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 21:17, December 13, 2013 (UTC)

Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – While you do spot vandalism that is only one of the duties of a patroller. One of the requirements to be a patroller (listed in the requirements) is to demonstrate good editing skills in compliance with the current policies and style guidelines. Almost all of the messages on your talk page are about the reversions of your edits, and repeated reversions about the same thing. I think once you have actually shown an improvement in your editing and following of the policies, that you may be suited as a patroller at another time. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 22:46, December 10, 2013 (UTC)

Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – I agree with Jimeee and TombRaiser. You're work on finding vandalism is very good and I hope you'll not stop with the great work, but as Tomb already mentioned, being a Patroller is more then that. "Demonstrate superior editing skills in compliance with the current policies and style guidelines" I'm sorry but you don't comply with that (yet). Too much edits show your inexperience with our guidelines and the English language. Everyone makes mistakes, including us admins, but you've made many mistakes. I'm sorry I have to vote against you, please don't take it personal. I know you'll improve in the future and I will be there to support the nomination. Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – I agree that he has improved but he still misses a lot when editing and needs to improve and look through the edits more in my opinion. Just this morning I had to correct several articles where he had done edits in the past 24 hours. —EbonySkyrim Message! 10:00, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – From what ive seen and read here and his own edits, he is not yet ready for the job. Being a Patroller is hard work, and i dont think any of us where who have or have had the job where perfect, but when we where nominated, we where at a point where people knew we could handle the job, and im not seeing that kind of trust here. Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – Sorry, but I'm not seeing productive edits. I see a lot of one word edits and removal of relevant information. Patrollers should strive for quality and productive edits. On more than one occasion you have removed interwiki links. Interwiki links belong in an article if the page has been created on an international Elder Scrolls Wiki. I don't think you are ready for a Patroller position right now. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 07:14, January 20, 2014 (UTC)

Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – I agree a lot wih Tomb. Alduin1996 makes not only one word edits, but some of his edits can be considered harmful. FlugsmithTalkContribsEdit count

I would like to nominate Flugsmith for patroller. He has been very helpful around the mainspace and has done more than simple one word changes. I've noticed him reverting vandalism when spotted, cleaning up pages, (more recently the Dark Brotherhood page), although it is preferred that many single edits weren't made in a short amout of time to the same page. But, other than that, I only see progress in improving articles on the wiki as well as taking a stand when new policies may need to be introduced or changed.

Voting-support.svg Support – If Admin has to be denied Spey due to popularity, then atleast give the man the Patroller position. As I stated multiple times before, he has the talent and the motivation to properly administrate this wiki. I'd also just like to point out to the user Bluesonic1 that Speysider has been a member of this wiki for well over a year, has during that whole time continuously contributed to it without this so-called "power hungriness" and was constantly reliable. Additionally, he has contributed great things to the community, as he is, like me and several other people, directly responsible for the unwanted, and indeed unqualified, staff - Jimeee, Kennyannydenny, etc - to have finally been pushed out of this wiki by the community. One can attribute most CT threads from the early- to mid 2014 directly to Spey, and if that doesn't show that he seriously cares for this wiki and it's state, I don't even know anymore. Voting-support.svg Support – - Like I said in the other thread, I was against his proposal for the admin position, as some members of the community feel that he is not ready to do so. However, like I also said, I feel that he deserves a chance to show that he is truly deserving of a staff position - and all that it entails - being a role model and leader for the community, and wearing those yellow letters with pride; being mature and responsible; but more importantly - putting the community before ourselves always. That's what I expect from the Admins here - and those that do well in staff positions are those that all of those things. I believe he can DEFINITELY do all of these things. The same people, the same lack of reasoning. As a heads up, this is how you vote. Watching?

I believe SuperSajuuk has the ability and capability to hold the patroller position. He has shown respectability and wise choice making on his part throughout my nearly two years of knowing him, and has helped pull the wiki out of harder points in the past. His choices alone make him great enough to easily manage this position, with his passion for editing right behind it. Simply our best choice.

Neutral[edit source]

Voting-neutral.svg Neutral – Administrator and Patroller are two different things. I don't see you as a good candidate for Administrator, though I do see you as a good candidate for patroller. Still, I think some of your page moves should be talked over with administrator before you do them. I also encourage you not to "machinegun edit", when you fix 40 links at a time for hyperlinks it makes it harder for me to search through the wiki activity. I do think you should expand more on your application, you've hardly done much writing for it. I'm not voting neutral out of desperation for a fellow patroller, I'm voting because I do see potential but some issues that can be fixed/avoided in the future. ☞ Rim < Talk | Updates | Edits > 21:02, April 9, 2015 (UTC)

Voting-neutral.svg Neutral – I am staying neutral with this vote. I opposed your administrator application as I don't believe you are entirely ready for the amount of community involvement that it comes with (even more so right now than at any other time; because of how few administrators we have currently, each one has to do a lot more in that regard), but patroller and administrator are quite different positions. Patroller is a lot more geared toward editing itself, which is something you are obviously good at, so I think this could work out okay. However, there are some reasons that I am not voting support. Firstly, I have very rarely seen you editing anything in the file namespace (categorization and adding templates and all that), which is one of the things patroller emphasizes. And additionally, unless you are marking them for deletion or something for whatever reason, I don't usually see you shaping up new pages, which makes me wonder if you will remain completely vigilant in that particular aspect of being patroller. I mean, if you do end up getting the position I assume you will start doing these things more often, but for now I will still stay neutral. —Atvelonis (talk) 04:40, April 12, 2015 (UTC)

Voting-neutral.svg Neutral – -Sajuuk, while a good editor, has a mentality I do not agree with. For every person who says they like Sajuuk and think he should be staff, I have had another tell me they don't like him or his attitude. This isn't just a few people, and at some point I need to start asking what in the world is being done to anger or at least irritate these people. Sajuuk and I do not see eye to eye on much. I try to put my personal thoughts aside, but I can only do that so much and for so long. At this time, I do not trust Sajuuk or some of his methods. At this time however, I cannot fully say no to his application. Tim said he is closing this soon, so I trust that unless something happens soon, that he had made up his mind. I will trust him on this one and let him decide how this goes.-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 04:25, April 18, 2015 (UTC)

Oppose[edit source]

Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – This is very unprofessional written compared to your other one, even if this is your second time making a application and it being a patroller application doesn't mean you should take it any less serious than a admin one. And after reading your comment on this thread, on the admin application we already mentioned disregarding rules, but now you are basically deciding conditions that prevent people from voicing their opinion. After reading this application and what i saw in Wikia chat earlier today about you still not being able to bury past problems of old staff makes me believe you are not ready for a staff position, even if i thought earlier that i was going to stay neutral this time. G0LD3NF1RE Questions Goes Here 18:49, April 9, 2015 (UTC)

Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – My response to your admin application was long and detailed so I will refer back to that as to my reasons for why I feel you're not ready for a staff position. On top of that though, I need to add that it's coming across to the community very quickly that you are power-hungry for a staff position here. If that was not your intention, then I apologise, but perhaps it is useful to you that I point out what myself and others notice from the outside. You're a great editor, but still lacking in skills with the community. Your last application caused a ruckus, and you didn't waste any time starting a new application. It just doesn't look good to the rest of us, and certainly doesn't portray the level of maturity and neutral point of view that a staff member needs, nor do you stand as a good role model. After reading the first comment you added to this application, I feel even more strongly my choice in vote. You are too arrogant and will end up tearing this community apart. Bluesonic1 (talk) 00:06, April 11, 2015 (UTC)

Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – Once again, I don't think Sajuuk is suitable for any staff role due to his imaturity. Same points I made in his failed admin application. Even this page shows his imaturity towards a normal discussion as he considers the whole process "pointless" and is arguing about colored names and wanting special exceptions for himself. He absolutely cannot handle and form of critisism as shown by his reply to Bluesonic and will write walls of text to prove himself. Even if he meets the Patroller guidelines, his attitude is terrible and Patrollers are supposed to be approachable. His work on this wiki only seems to be fixing links after a disambiguation page has been deleted. I would have expected a patroller to have done something more, but maybe this wiki is different.

User Pelinel Whitestrake wrote: "If Admin has to be denied Spey due to popularity, then atleast give the man the Patroller position.". This is probably the worst reasoning I have seen. Literally saying "He lost, so lets give him the loser prize as a consolation". And secondly, he lost the admin nomination not due to popularity, but due to his huge UNPOPULARITY. Half of the community said no! Vote failed. How else should it have been done? This alone speaks volumes about him. All this talk about how popularity contests are evil, its ironic that several of Sajuuk's friends are emphatically supporting evenything he says. Funny how that works eh?

In closing, TL;DR: No, not mature enough. Wulfharth (talk) 10:24, April 15, 2015 (UTC)

Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – There are several important reasons why Sajuuk (aka Speysider) should not be in a position of power on the wiki. Here are the major ones:

  • Has tried to stifle any discussion that might reflect poorly on him, and attempts to remove anything that might be an impediment to him gaining user rights (see this, and also this discussion (among others), which he conveniently moved to his archive around the time discussion was taking place. Also insists on frequently discussing matters in pms in chat, which are not logged unlike talk or forum pages, and therefore cannot be held accountable for flaming, harassment, etc that he does there. Naturally does not like the idea of logging chat, and makes disingenuous statements to discourage any attempts to log chat in future (see here). This discussion also provides some background.
  • Repeatedly attempts to massively change the wiki based on his personal preferences (his argument being "[random wiki] does x, so we should too", or similar). Consistently condescending and aggressive to those with a contrary point of view, as demonstrated numerous times on talk pages and threads (example here). Attempts to close off discussion or voting by asking an admin he think might be sympathetic to do things for him.
  • Gratuitous personal attacks (here, here, here, here, among many others. Can also be seen in his recent requests to become Admin and then Patroller.
  • Repeated attempts to gain user rights, with or without consensus from the community. One can see that the only reason Sajuuk is applying as a Patroller is to get a stepping stone to admin powers. If he actually gained user rights, it would be a sort of fox guarding the henhouse situation, making the wiki worse off. Having a patroller or an admin who continuously violates policies (assume good faith, no personal attacks, etiquette, etc) won't be good for anyone.

I am no longer an editor here, so I have no personal stake in this discussion. I simply wanted to alert the community here about these things, as it would be unfair to them to not speak up, especially considering the great lengths that Sajuuk has gone to hide and distort the record. --Shockstorm (talk) 20:18, April 17, 2015 (UTC)

Comments[edit source]

Voting-comment.svg Comment – Unfortunately, I must give a pre-requisite for this one: I don't want to see people writing opposes on the basis of "You just applied for sysop and got denied, why are you obsessed in becoming a staff member?": if anyone writes such things, I will be contacting a sysop to remove the vote entirely as it will be interpreted as an attempt to stir up trouble. The same goes true for trying to oppose for something that happened at least a year ago for which you have zero evidence as these will be construed as deliberate vote fixing. Sorry folks, I have to point this out now, since it happened quite a bit in the previous application. --Sajuuk talk | contribs | Channel 11:19, April 9, 2015 (UTC)

Voting-comment.svg Comment – I will respond to Rim's concerns:
I also encourage you not to "machinegun edit", when you fix 40 links at a time for hyperlinks it makes it harder for me to search through the wiki activity.
This is a common practice to fix links. You weren't around much when a user was spamming nearly 1000 link fixes in a single day, THAT is bad editing. Tim has also done mass link fixing all at once, but I'm not seeing anyone complaining to him about "flooding the feed". RC is a tool, if a lot of edits are being made, it just means the wiki is active. At least I'm doing it in batches and not flooding the feed.
I do think you should expand more on your application, you've hardly done much writing for it.
There isn't much for me to say about it. I already know about all the tools involved for a patroller, it's just rollback and a couple of basic tools that, in my opinion, should be made more available to others (the movefiles right, vandals don't ever target files anyway, so the chances of a user making an error is close to zero).
Thanks for your concerns. --Sajuuk talk | contribs | Channel 21:09, April 9, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – Oh Bluesonic, I'm sorry but I found your oppose quite funny, especially as I actually asked people not to oppose if it's for the reason of "You just applied for sysop and got denied, why are you obsessed in becoming a staff member?".
For a start, being a patroller is completely different to admin (as Rim pointed out), there is far less community involvement needed between the two, but I'm perfectly capable of being a patroller, having had such rights on other wiki's for years and never having issues.
Also, don't write things like you speak for the community, nobody else seems to care that I'm applying for patroller (especially as Tim RECOMMENDED I do so), so please edit your comment to make it clear you are stating your own opinion and not talking on behalf of the wiki.
I also love how you call me arrogant, that was pretty insulting and rude and I advise you to desist writing such things in the future, it makes you look like you have an issue with me. As pointed out by Starkiller, you are just writing random things for the sake of finding excuses to oppose me having additional rights, which is close to laughable. No offence. --Sajuuk talk | contribs | Channel 08:18, April 11, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – I just want to say, I actually recommended to Sajuuk that he should apply for a "lower" staff position first, as (as he pointed out) an Admin did on the other application, FYI Zippertrain85 (talk) 19:20, April 11, 2015 (UTC).
Voting-comment.svg Comment – @Atvelonis: The unnecessarily confusing image policies and all the complexity involving them makes me unwilling to contribute files here. But I do have access to a script that allows me to move files to new names and automatically update that file name across articles if it's in use. On other wiki's, this is what I generally do in regards to files. --Sajuuk talk | contribs | Channel 08:07, April 12, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – While I remember: if I do become a patroller, I do not want the coloured name or user profile template. I would prefer not to be identifiable as a patroller at this time, but I will change my mind later in time. For the masthead, I'd like it to just say "custodian", not "patroller". They're only minor things, but I would prefer these to be honoured. --Sajuuk talk | contribs | Channel 08:53, April 12, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – -As I stated before, you can not set special terms for your role as patroller. We do not set up special conditions and terms for anybody. If people want rights, they need to be held to the same standards as everybody else. A strong argument for the template could be made, as that is your main page, but we are not setting up a special masthead, and the same for the yellow name. The colored name is a sign of your tools, that you are trusted enough that you will help the wiki and protect it. If people need help a colored name says this person can help, and to a vandal they see a person who will respond to their abuse. I dont understand why you would want the tools, but not be identified as somebody who has them.-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 00:39, April 15, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – I don't want a coloured name. I don't want to be publically identifiable as having the tools. I just want to be treated like a regular user with some additional tools, not a godhead or someone who is always rights, which is the stigma associated with a coloured name.
I have every right to request something to be removed, I requested a sysop to remove the coloured name when I was chat mod and it was granted. If a user wants you to do something, you do it, don't start questioning and rejecting people's requests, unless it's unreasonable. I don't see how requesting a different masthead and no coloured name is an unreasonable request.
I'm sorry if you don't like it, but I'm afraid it really is not your decision: the rights are being granted to me, and I have full right to request a sysop NOT to do something. Do not grant me a coloured name, I don't want it. And I absolutely refuse to believe that having a coloured name is a requirement, because it is not. --Sajuuk talk | contribs | Channel 07:58, April 15, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – @Sajuuk I'm not sure why this is so important. No one is going to think you're a god if you have a coloured name; the colour is just there to signify a staff position and prevent confusion. Being a patroller just means you get some extra tools, but the name part just tells people you have these tools. When people know, you can use your tools to help them. With a chat mod position, you get a star beside your name to easily signify your position, but with patroller is different. Without the coloured name, the only way people can see you're a patroller is by going to the staff list and seeing you on it, looking at the custodian users list, or with the template on your userpage, but I'm not even sure you want to have the template.
Chat mod and patroller are two different things; you automatically have a star to alert users you have the tools in the chat, but without the star people don't know. Relate that to a patroller position; the coloured name is the next best thing to a star and does pretty much the same job. People see the star and hover over it to see "Chat mod", and people click a yellow name to see a patroller template on a user's page. It's not too much too ask. This isn't a gluten or peanut allergy, no harm will come to you by having a coloured name. Timeoin has stated he disagrees with the coloured name, yet he still has it applied to his name and there is no harm done. I see that it is quite evident you'll get your patroller rights and 70% of me feels that you should have the rights because you are eligible and your attitude has improved, but it's little things like this that give me doubts. All I ask is that you don't request from having the public identification of being a patroller stripped from you, it's just there to help the community if they need to seek help from you. ☞ Rim < Talk | Updates | Edits > 08:18, April 15, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – You want to be treated like a regular user, but you don't get a special masthead. We ask that our staff be easy to pick out for assistance, but you don't want to do that either. Being a patroller is more then just having tools, you are there to help, and that means we need you to use the yellow. Being a part of the community means accepting the responsibility it asks of you, and from the sounds of it you are not fully committed to what you are asking for unless you get to set up special unique ground rules about how you want to be treated regular.-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 08:25, April 15, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – I'm not really going to argue the semantics. If you want to give me a coloured name, I'll just have to accept. Also Wulfharth, your oppose just looks funny, because it's so terribly wrong. I am not immature and I've been perfectly reasonable with everyone, have you seen me swearing or cursing people out for having a different opinion? No. I don't know what your problem is with me, but you seem to be wrong on a load of things and you should maybe work on actually editing this wiki, instead of going around degrading my contributions. You also have no right to demean user requests, I am at perfect liberty to make any requests I wish, it's not your duty to demean them. --Sajuuk talk | contribs | Channel 10:27, April 15, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – Hi Sajuuk, just a short message so you can see where Wulfharth is coming from with his criticism in terms of swearing/maturity: Comment link 1, link 2 and link 3. I know it's all from one thread but I just want you to get the idea of where we're coming from and take it as something constructive rather than a personal attack :) Peace out! Bluesonic1 (talk) 02:56, April 16, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – Well there's clearly majority support. So I don't know whether there's a time limit before this can be approved, but I don't see the value in waiting around, since the community clearly seems to support me becoming a patroller. --Sajuuk talk | contribs | Channel 11:45, April 16, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – It took my nomination 13 days to be completed. There's no need to rush it, applications are only open for a while so that users get their chance to vote and share their opinions, not everyone will notice it on Day 1. ☞ Rim < Talk | Updates | Edits > 23:52, April 16, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – @Wulfharth I should point out, Sajuuk didn't lose by majority vote, he resigned from the vote. If he hadn't, he would have won as he had the majority. Don't quote me on this, but I believe I counted 13-11. Your Brother in Arms (talk) 21:25, April 16, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – ^ What he said, but it's also because both Tim and CCC opposed, which made the outcome a given, so I decided that it was a fruitless effort to continue that one. Also, there's a massive majority support for me to become a patroller, with only 2 neutral's (which seem to be partial supports, based on the reasons), so I hope that Tim or CCC will grant the rights. It's been a week now, I don't see any reason why this would be rejected. --Sajuuk talk | contribs | Channel 21:42, April 16, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – @THALMOR The number of votes don't determine whether the user recieves the rights. The voting part is only there so that users can express their position on the application. Even a 11:3 application can be rejected if the applicant doesn't live up to the standards.
@Sajuuk I gotta agree with you, it seems quite evident the application will be approved. Still, some users might not get a chance to vote if it's closed too quickly. ☞ Rim < Talk | Updates | Edits > 23:52, April 16, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – That is true, but remember that your application was made just as everyone else resigned, so your application would have taken longer because we had lost a lot of sysops and the wiki was focused on getting new ones in place. In this case, there's active sysops so the application "in theory" should not take as long, but I think that everyone has said their bit. Unless someone came in with a load of alts and opposed this (which would be pretty obvious), I don't see anything stopping it being approved :P --Sajuuk talk | contribs | Channel 08:29, April 17, 2015 (UTC)
Voting-comment.svg Comment – Shock, I do like how the most you've done in ca. 6 months is to come out of nowhere and oppose me. The funny part is that all your evidence is linked out of context, which was clearly done in a failed attempt to make me look bad in this community, despite the fact that I can probably point out how you've spammed 1000 edits in a day, complained when politely asked to contribute more than just 1000 link fixes and then called a reasonable editor request as "harassment". Then you rounded it all off by saying that you aren't an editor here, which just invalidated your entire point, which makes me suspect you were probably contacted off-wiki to simply oppose me for no reason. It shows in the reasons you've come up with. Feel free to expand your oppose reason by citing this comment pointing out the fallacy in your argument. :D --Sajuuk talk | contribs | Channel 20:37, April 17, 2015 (UTC)

Application for Starkiller131. Successful.

Starkiller131TalkContribsEdit count

Hi, everyone. My name's Starkiller131 and I've been editing since may 8th of 2013. I came by to apply for the position of patroller and will state several reasons why i believe I would make a good addition to the Staff. First off I'm active in the mainspace, I inform users when they make mistakes, and I have a better knowledge of editing then I did when I first started editing here. Just to take users back how I used used to think about being patroller. I thought being patroller would be fun and games and no response though when I was nominated by a former admin in December of 2013. The admin who nominated me wasn't aware how bad my spelling/grammar was my anger when it came to getting my edits reverted, and lack of informing any users of their edits. For a very long time I didn't believe I was even ready for patroller, and still after all this time I'm still not sure I'm ready, that decision is ultimately up to community . Now enough for history I need to talk about the current patroller situation, as of right now; we only have one patroller and another user who's close to getting rights. We need more patrollers and as of right now I'm confident in my ability as an editor, as a user, and as a member of this community that I would do my job well if given the opportunity. Thanks for reading please be honest, and don't give support/oppose without reasoning thanks. If done so the vote will not be valid :).

Voting-support.svg Support – Star fits all the requirements and the basic portfolio of a Patroller. His frequent edits and managing of mistakes and violations from other users as well as reverting of vandalism by offenders is one of the most important qualities a patroller should have. His personality and attitude is quite calm and attentive, I expect him to uphold a good appearance and apply positive interactions with the community. Star is one of the best users for the job, and by my honor as the only current patroller, I fully support his application for the Patroller position. ☞ Rim < Talk | Updates | Edits > 18:54, April 15, 2015 (UTC)

He is a great editor, able to catch vandalism quickly, and knows when and when not to use his tools based on the given situation. This is on top of the fact that he is an active contributor to the mainspace makes me see no reason not to promote him. In short, great guy, great editor, and great user of the XD emote. Voting-support.svg Support – -Game has not been here as long as some of us, but has made me feel old and lazy while he went out and rocked the Morrowind articles. Because of Game we have images of almost every character in Morrowind, and that is something no other wiki I have seen can say. He has also helped with the Morrowind guild and has become a voice of reason I have learned to trust and respect.-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 08:17, May 8, 2015 (UTC)

Voting-support.svg Support – Gaminomicon has shown incredible determination and skill in editing. Our Morrowind articles have been expanded at a tremendous rate largely because of Gamin, and his several thousand uploads prove that he very much cares for the wiki. He has in the past expressed interest in the rollback and the file renaming tools to clean up both his and others' edits along the road if he ever became patroller, and I am confident that he will use these tools respectfully, and that much good will come from him having them. —Atvelonis (talk) 12:09, May 8, 2015 (UTC)

Voting-support.svg Support – Gaminomicon finally went out and nominated for the patroller position? Awesome! I wholeheartedly support Gaminomicon's nomination to Patroller. He's ridiculously active on here, he's helpful and insightful, and more importantly - he is highly respected by the community. He's shown an interest in this position in the past, and I am very glad that he is finally nominating for the position. He's done such an incredible job helping to get the Morrowind pages up to par in such a very short amount of time. There are not very many editors that I can honestly say have done as much in such a short amount of time as he has. Voting-support.svg Support – Gaminomican will do an excellent job as patroller. There has not been any real vandalism to speak of lately, so that argument seems null and void to me. He has knowlage of Morrowind that will enable him to answer questions from our community that the Mighty AzuraKnight has failed to answer in their first three minutes of existance. He has knowlage of how the nuts and bolts of the wiki's interface works, which will enable him to do repairs to edits when and where needed. More importantly, to help those like myself who are new to editing and make some mistakes in their use of the tool set. I have talked to him in chat about the objections which SuperSajuuk has raised, with Atvelonis present, and I am more than confidant that he has answered those concerns.

Here are some excerpts:

Now, I know that was all a bit of a read, and perhaps non-normative for this sort of a thing, but I wanted there to be a more in depth interveiw for some of the community members who may have had questions raised. So, I asked all of my questions, and I am more than happy with the answers that I recieved to them. This is a good move for our community. I am %100 behind it! Oppose[edit source]

Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – I'm not doing this to be an asshole to people. I'm not doing this because I'm supposedly "butthurt", as some people claim. I'm opposing Gaminomicon for patroller on the simple reason that he does not revert any vandalism or patrol new articles at all, and the only right he would make use of (out of all the rights that "patrollers" have) is the "movefiles" right. This user right should really just be made available to autoconfirmed users on the whole wiki, which Wikia can do on request, since vandals don't target the file namespace at all. Gaminomicon does a lot for the wiki and I respect him for that, but he doesn't need to be a patroller to continue his contributions and he doesn't really fit me as the kind of person who would need those additional tools. --Sajuuk talk | contribs | Channel 11:24, May 8, 2015 (UTC)

Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – I'm gonna have to agree with spey on this one. While Gaminomicon does make great edits and has helped tremendously with images and the creation of new articles; he has shown no effort towards reverting edits, or patrolling no articles (at least from what I've seen) which are one of many duties of being a patroller. Giving all the points spey made in his oppose, I feel gaminomicon is not ready for the position of patroller and all the responsibilities that go with it. If however, he shows effort of patrolling new articles, reverting vandalism, and performing the duties that the position of patroller asks of a user; I will gladly support this, until he shows that he's capable of doing these things (which I know that he can) I gonna have to remain opposed. I would like to become Patroller of this Wikia to help cleaning up vandalism, to help the new users and for a special task, renaming the badly named images.. I've been rollback on the biggest french wikia for 2 years or almost, so I kind of know how it works ^^ But, since we have 3 rollback working on the Activity and RC, I would work on it as well but, my principal task would be to help  Atvelonis in his work to rename the badly-named Images. I can do this correctly and i know how to do it.  I believe that this is one of the best way I could help The Elder Scrolls Wikia, for now because, i'm sure that after the little global change that will happen to me, I will be able to help over here even more. It is a group of users who help Wikia to increase the non-English communities on the network. They're not helpers for all wiki's, just the non-English communities and as Jarjarkine is a native French speaker, his helper duties only extend to French communities. To use his rights here, he must have local flags, or he would be interfering in the community: just like how Wikia Staff do not interfere in local wiki's unless it's for TOU violations. Hello everyone. I am applying for a patroller position. I don't really know what to say here, so I'll just mention some of the contributions I have made. I may have only been an active contributor since March, but have been quite active since when i started out by adding bugs templates to many articles. A few of my other contributions include, but not limited to, adding missing word wall tables to a few Dragon Shout articles, creating articles for Morrowind such as the Propylon Index articles, and created navboxes for Morrowind Thieves Guild quests, and Morag Tong quests. I also reverted any vandalized articles I've come across. For the reasons mentioned I feel that I could make a suitable patroller. Anyway, i guess that's all. It was suggested I run since we could use some more patrollers. I believe I'd be an asset in regards to editing, moving pages and images, reverting vandalism, and helping other users. I've worked on various projects on the wiki, like interwiki linking and stub fixing. I've also given encouragement to people who need help or have been inactive - I believe small things like that are important in building up the wiki and retaining editors. Application withdrawn

Support[edit source]

Voting-support.svg Support – Only half of our patroller force is currently active and while that may change eventually it really doesn't hurt to have one more extremely active user as staff. If you take a look at Shockstorm's contributions you'll see that much of what he does involves polishing up and protecting the mainspace. Oppose[edit source]

Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – Sorry to be that guy... Shockstorm has certainly helped out this wiki, and has thousands of edits to his name, but the problem here is that so many of those edits were tiny little things of little significance. Of course those edits helped us out, but at the same time a patroller is supposed to be about so much more than making lots of little edits. Also, he has a history of just clearing up, leaving the wiki without notice for a while, and then coming back. Yes, that is allowed, but a staff member should have more consistent attendance. Emperor Maximus (talk) 19:32, November 16, 2015 (UTC)

Comments[edit source]

Voting-comment.svg Comment – Despite my support, I do have some questions that should be cleared. Even though Shock is usually well behaved, I think if he does gain Patroller rights he could be less defensive when people question his edits, since sometimes those situations do get overblown. Another thing is that Shock also has a habit of randomly leaving the Wiki completely for months on end, if he does get Patroller I would prefer he have less sporadic editing patterns. Overall, support, but still. :P Zippertrain85 (talk) 19:43, November 8, 2015 (UTC)

Voting-comment.svg Comment – My position on the matter is irrelevant regardless as Shock decided to withdraw his application. I would however like to note that some of the people voting support are saying that only half the patroller team is currently active, and while I am inactive due to being in a psych ward, I will make a full return in 1 - 2 weeks. I think we should archive this application in the time being since the creator has decided to pull out on becoming a patroller. ☞ Rim < Talk | Updates | Edits > 03:15, November 20, 2015 (UTC)

I finally bow into JarJar's pressure and apply!! With the wiki expanding at the rate it is, I feel it is important that we maintain a full and active staff. I feel I can add to that. My edits have been diverse enough to give me experience in many areas of the wiki, and I am familiar with undoing vandalism and using VIP. There have been times where I feel I would have benefited from rollback. In conjuction with Atv, I often scour through recent edits looking for improvements, which comes close to the work of a patroller. I feel I am well prepared. Perhaps most importantly, I am willing and able to commit the time to help improve the wiki through this role in the long run. Thanks for reading! Bronkiin (talk) 03:16, January 14, 2016 (UTC)

He also patrolls the the RC/WA everydays, revertings the vandals, wich is obviously a good point for someone who want's to be patroller hehehe but anyway, Bron's a great, really friendly member of this wiki, and active, who really deserves becoming member of the wiki's staff.Emperor Jarjarkine (chat with meh) 22:30, January 18, 2016 (UTC)

Hey guys, I don't know if it's quite allowed, but as I can't find a rule against nomination in the rulebook, I'm nominating Crusader for patroller. Within the past year, it is obvious to me that he has done quite a lot for the wiki. At least over 5 or 6k edits (Or, in Crusader's case, 12k), a good knowledge of wikitext, and an eye for bad edits and the ability to fix them - this is what patrollers should be. Crusader has all of these qualities. I'm honestly surprised that he isn't a patroller already. He's also a good chap, and he's never been unfair or mean to anybody as far as I can tell. Stated plainly, he's a prime candidate.

Oppose[edit source]

  • Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – I do not believe he is ready. He has said himself that he "works small". His edits are almost exclusively minor maintenance edits. I want to see him working on adding content and checking recent changes. He has shown that he is in fact unsure what edits should and should not stand. That is a huge, huge problem for any candidate for patroller. I have had to undo some of his reverts, which seem rushed and uncertain. Otto is more ready; Otto is not ready. CoT is not ready. Bronkiin (talk) 22:59, March 10, 2016 (UTC)
  • Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – I have a very high opinion of Crusader, but there are still a lot of formatting things he needs to perfect. There are a huge number of small rules and styles that a patroller needs to be absolutely certain of that can only be learned through experience working with them, and I don't think Crusader's reached that point yet. He has been editing a lot for the past several months, but most of those edits have been simple and minor, such as links, ID template edits, <br />, etc., so his experience overall has been relatively limited. Only fairly recently has he branched out and been doing any patroller-type edits, and as Bronkiin mentioned he is still adapting to that. I would like to see Crusader as patroller at some point but I don't think right now is the best time. —Atvelonis (talk) 04:06, March 11, 2016 (UTC)

  • Voting-oppose.svg Oppose – I only oppose Crusader at this moment. In due time, I believe he will be ready. At present, though, he makes a lot of mistakes. While he has a lot of edits and a good attitude, he doesn't really fit the bill right now. He doesn't preview/check his edits much, and the majority of edits are just fixes and not adding information. I oppose at this moment. Ottoman Hold Message Me My Action 02:44:55 March 12, 2016

I am applying to be a patroller, and feel that I am qualified and able enough for the position. I revert and report any vandalism I see, and I take the time to check through the recent edits to find anything that can be fixed or added onto, as well as marking any spam pages I see for deletion, and adding categories on images/pages that I come across that need them.

I am very consistent in how active I am and have been here on the wiki, and have been active on the Recent Changes/Mainspace/Chat for some time now. I understand how to edit, and what things I don't know yet I will be very willing and able to learn quickly. I have also helped a few other users who have had trouble with editing or had questions, and have let some know of any mistakes they may be making if they are severe enough. I believe that becoming a patroller may give me more tools that I can use to make more useful edits, and, as we have only 3 at the moment, I believe I could help out and have the work be distributed more to make things easier for them. And lastly, I will be committed to giving the time and effort required to take on such a responsibility.

Hey everyone,

I’d like to apply for the job of patroller. I personally think I’m qualified for the job, and here’s why;

Since I became active on the mainspace I’ve been trying to help out as much as I can. I’ve added about 40% of all Morrowind armor and item images, added all the images on the Merchandise page, and have recently been working on adding audio files to every Oblivion NPC article (in which I’ve made a lot of progress).

I mark images as poor quality whenever I come across them, I categorize images, revert vandalism, and give articles up for deletion when necessary. I check most to every edit I see, and adjust them if they lack in content/coding. I think I’ve shown that I’m active on both the Activity Feed and the Mainspace in general, as well as the Chat. Whenever I come across several incorrect edits, I notify the user of his/her errors, and advise him/her on how to do it correctly, as well as directing him/her to our policies.

I’ve shown that I know how to edit, that I can be consistent in how active I am, and that I’m overall an asset to our wiki. I’ve talked to several people, and I’ve got a clear view of what a patroller’s duties are.

I think I’ll be an asset to the Patroller team, and I’ll sure try to be. I’ll be committed to the job and spend as much time as I can doing it. I’m positive that I’ll be able to handle the responsibility. Furthermore, I’d also like to add that it would be very practical to have a patroller in my time zone, as most of the current patrollers aren’t online when I am. Therefore we’ll be able to keep up a consistent patrolling system, without any holes.

I would like to nominate myself for patroller. With The Cat Master becoming an administrator, the wiki needs another user to become a patroller in his place. I believe I am qualified to become patroller because I do all of the tasks a patroller does already: I watch the recent changes, and check every edit that I can, I report vandalism to the TES:VIP page, and I have proven that I can politely guide other users, in both helping them learn how to edit and to help show them the Wiki's policies. I've proven myself active in both chat and the recent changes. Whenever asked to assist a user, I have always done so, provided it was in my capacity to do so and it was beneficial for the wiki.

I've shown myself able to edit almost everything, from adding item pages from Daggerfall, to making sure pages are correctly formatted, to adding interwiki links, adding audio files and pictures, creating redirects, adding categories, managing disambiguation pages, writing lore articles, and to managing a large amount of templates, along with more.

I've definitely shown that I can be a decent patroller for the wiki, and I hope that you all can say the same. The Crusader of Truth (talkchat) 19:01, September 2, 2017 (UTC)

Last time Crusader applied, I came to the conclusion he wasn't quite ready. This time, he is more than ready and most certainly over-qualified for the role. Technically, he is our most advanced community member other than Flight, and in this respect he will be a very valuable addition to the staff. After almost two years he is a very experienced editor and a familiar face around the community. With Cat Master's recent promotion (for lack of a better word), I believe Crusader is ideally suited to fill the Patroller gap. — Bronkiin (talk) 19:10, September 2, 2017 (UTC)

Hello everyone, I would like to apply for the position of patroller. After spending a while editing here, I believe I am qualified to handle such a role in the wiki. I have added content in a number of different pages, and am familiar with the style and formatting guidelines in place for them. I have been always keeping a close eye on the Recent Changes, and I am able to respond to vandalism that might have gone unnoticed by reverting it and reporting it to the VIP page. Using the tools provided for the patrollers, I will be able to do this even more efficiently.

I have also been editing different types of pages, and am familiar with the proper style for articles of different games and topics, as well as various templates and infoboxes. My edits are of a wide variety, as I do not focus on just adding only one type of content, so I am confident that I am able to quickly adjust any changes made by less experienced users, as well as easily recognize vandalism.

My activity has also remained pretty consistent, and I have not gone long without checking the latest changes in the RC. Moreover, I have guided users before, and have shown to be able to handle cases like these without any problems, being able to remain calm when the situation called for it. I am very active on the wiki's discord server as well, and can respond very quickly to any user problem when the need arises.

Because of these reasons, I feel that I am capable of handling the position.

She has a solid understanding of wiki policies and the style and formatting guidelines, and has done a good job talking to new users when they make errors. She's engaged with the community, particularly on the wiki's Discord server, but also with the moots and on the Discussions. Hello, I am going to try to be a Patroller. I know about styling and technical side of the Wikia, at least some of it when to comes to templates. I will not be good about lore, walkthroughs or strategy guides though. Still it is worth a try according to some people of the community.

Voting-support.svg Support – Been waiting for this for a long, long time. In his three years on the wiki, Rupuzioks has amassed over 35,000 edits adding content, reverting vandalism, correcting new users' edits in RC. He's created thousands upon thousands of articles and has uploaded over 3,000 files ranging from Legends card art to Skyrim audio clips to Morrowind item renders. He also does a certain amount of upkeep with templates and modules, especially for Legends. He's clearly very familiar with the wiki's policies and guidelines, as well as its editing-related style guides. Rupuzioks is a knowledgeable, talented, and devoted editor, and a really humble and agreeable person as a whole. Voting-support.svg Support – Rupuzioks is a highly dedicated contributor to the wiki. The amount of his additions to the wiki is trully impressive (36k contributions in three years is on par with some of the past admins). He is also familiar with the wiki's formatting rules. Hi everyone, I’ll be applying as a patroller. I believe that after spending much of my time here since joining the Wiki by undertaking projects, watching changes, and helping other editors that my inclusion as a patroller would be more than beneficial as I have grown more experienced both technically and holistically.

I have contributed in many ways that have proven constructive to the Wiki including refactoring and formatting pages, adding and correcting technical content, and engaging with the objective addition of lore and history in a reader-focused and concise manner.[1][2][3] More recently I have taken to ensuring that the contributions of other users, particularly new editors, are consistent with the Wiki’s policies and are demonstrably constructive and, as an extension to this, have attempted to engage with the dissemination of good editing practices to users through feedback and advice.[4][5][6][7] I also think it is worth mentioning that I have prior experience in providing constructive feedback and criticism in educational and academic environments.

My area of focus for contributions on the Wiki is wide ranging from adding technical information through sourcing from Bethesda’s official construction and creations kits which I have used extensively when contributing to the wiki. Additionally, I have involved myself in the rearrangement and rewriting of pages including historical and lore information to be as understandable for common readers as possible.[8][9][10] In general, I believe that the addition of new staff to assist in the continuous improvement of the Wiki will be imperative moving forward and that I, as a patroller, would be able to provide a greater level of assistance.

I hope to be given the honour and opportunity to contribute further to the Wiki as a patroller.

Comment[edit source]

Voting-comment.svg Comment – While I may not be part of the active community, I have been around here lately (due to Dutch Tes-wiki business). I was previously active on the tes-mods community as well, and have met Anubis there a couple of times before. He always appeared to be someone who meant the best for everyone, taking a neutral position between different parties. I know this hasn't got to do much with being a patroller, but nevertheless it's an important aspect for anyone that gets tools in any community to get along with the others. He's also one of the few people that I noticed to be active (alongside EbonySkyrim and a few others, of course), which I think shows of an interest in this wiki that some other people might lack. I could add a few more things, but I'll just leave this here. Sincerely, Yaell Novella (talk) 06:58, September 10, 2014 (UTC)

Voting-comment.svg Comment – I'm torn on my vote. Ghost does his job, but I literally just sat through a whole days worth of arguing over his need to hold RPers below him in worth. It was disgusting, and incredibly hostile. Jacen Veron (talk) 08:23, September 13, 2014 (UTC)

Voting-neutral.svg Neutral – He hasn't had any activity since August 30. While this is sooner than Flug and Balagog he still hasn't shown activity. A patroller's duty is to look over the mainspace, and for that he can't be semi-active.
