Hey everyone,

I’d like to apply for the job of patroller. I personally think I’m qualified for the job, and here’s why;

Since I became active on the mainspace I’ve been trying to help out as much as I can. I’ve added about 40% of all Morrowind armor and item images, added all the images on the Merchandise page, and have recently been working on adding audio files to every Oblivion NPC article (in which I’ve made a lot of progress).

I mark images as poor quality whenever I come across them, I categorize images, revert vandalism, and give articles up for deletion when necessary. I check most to every edit I see, and adjust them if they lack in content/coding. I think I’ve shown that I’m active on both the Activity Feed and the Mainspace in general, as well as the Chat.

Whenever I come across several incorrect edits, I notify the user of his/her errors, and advise him/her on how to do it correctly, as well as directing him/her to our policies.

I’ve shown that I know how to edit, that I can be consistent in how active I am, and that I’m overall an asset to our wiki.

I’ve talked to several people, and I’ve got a clear view of what a patroller’s duties are.

I think I’ll be an asset to the Patroller team, and I’ll sure try to be. I’ll be committed to the job and spend as much time as I can doing it. I’m positive that I’ll be able to handle the responsibility.

Furthermore, I’d also like to add that it would be very practical to have a patroller in my time zone, as most of the current patrollers aren’t online when I am. Therefore we’ll be able to keep up a consistent patrolling system, without any holes.

Support Carlo has shown repeatedly that he is capable of looking over edits and fixing information/reverting vandalism, keeping file licensing up to snuff, adding lots of content to the wiki, helping new users out, and overall being an outstanding member of the community. Additionally, his timezone gives us a significant boost in terms of looking over recent edits. I have no doubt that he will make an excellent patroller. —Atvelonis (talk) 15:29, August 16, 2016 (UTC)

VoteSupport Carlo has been one of the best mods during my time here, and I know he will make a excellent patroller. VoteSupport When I first saw CarloV, I was a bit confuse, I saw no nominations/applications from him and yet, he had a Star on the chat, so, since he was a mod for the app, I didn't know if he'd be a good mod or not, you'll tell me, he cannot be worse than that guy...But, after seeing him continuously moderate the chat, dealing with every single problem of the chat and sometimes of the wikia itself, i grew really proud of our wikia to have such a good addition to the team ! If it was only that tho, he proves every days that he cares for the wiki itself as he reverts, reports and do all kind of stuff one without right would do to patroll the wiki and he does it extremly well ! There's much more I could say but, let's just stick to that: He's one of our best users out there and he's a really friendly guy as well so, giving him more right would do only good to us ! Get on with it ! --Emperor Jarjarkine (chat with meh)<helper/> 18:34, August 16, 2016 (UTC)

Patrollers are users granted the rollback tool to keep the wiki free of any vandalism. With a single click, they can revert edits. Patrollers must apply for their position, and be approved via a community consensus. Only bureaucrats are able to grant their rollback rights.

Duties and privilegesEdit

 • Watching the recent changes and checking edits for vandalism. They are responsible for reviewing edits made to all namespaces except for those on Special:Forum.
 • Reporting vandalism to the notice board or notifying an admin on the chat or on their talk page. In the event that an admin is unable to block a vandal, place warning on the vandal's talk page. This may discourage further vandalism.
 • Patrollers are encouraged to add high traffic articles, good articles, and featured articles to their watchlist to help prevent vandalism.
 • Patrollers have the ability to move pages in the namespace. Images should be given names appropriate to their composition and should not contain an overabundance of numerical characters. File:2334234739784.png is discouraged, while File:Stormcloak Encampment.png is more meaningful and easier to locate.
 • Scout Special:NewPages for recently made articles that may not meet our style and formatting guidelines. Articles found here should be marked as patrolled after being reviewed, by scrolling to the bottom of the article and clicking [Mark this page as patrolled]. This link only appears if the page is opened through Special:NewPages. Before marking a page as patrolled, ensure it contains an infobox, wikilinks, and appropriate categories. Flag the page as a stub or as needing attention wherever applicable.
 • Maintain an overall mature and friendly demeanor when interacting with other editors.
 • Practice diplomacy when users make mistakes.
 • Pointing new users to policies and guidelines when necessary.
 • Remaining in contact with other staff through the wiki's official Slack channel.

Maintaining the rollback toolEdit

 • Patrollers who have not edited in exactly 30 days are considered inactive, and will no longer be displayed as active on our staff list unless they can prove they have made a steady return.
 • Patrollers who have gone "rogue" and turned into obvious vandals will have their rollback tool removed automatically. They can petition to have it returned on the consensus track form.
 • Patrollers will not lose their rollback tool or their custodial tools of page patrolling and file renaming if marked as inactive, although the "yellow" coloration of their name is indefinitely revoked. To request that a user be relieved of their rollback tool due to abuse, please petition on the consensus track form. Format the request similar to the rollback nomination layout.

Activity chartEdit

This chart of active admins and patrollers who engage in Recent Changes review will help to coordinate times of the week during which one or several of us are unavailable. Ideally, every day should be pretty evenly spread out in terms of availability. A regular day means that the user in question will review Recent Changes to the best of their ability, as usual; an "off-day" is simply one during which they know that they will be routinely unavailable. Staff should not feel pressured to check Recent Changes during these "off-days."

RequirementsEdit

 • Been actively contributing to the mainspace for a period of at least three months.
 • Possess a minimum of 2500 mainspace edits
 • Demonstrate superior editing skills in compliance with the current policies and style guidelines.
 • Practice diplomacy when users make mistakes.
 • Direct new and unaware users to policy and help pages.
 • Serve as a mentor and community role model.
 • Maintain an active presence on the wiki.

Exceptions to these rules can be made, but never assume you are the exception to the rules.

ApplyingEdit

Nomination and Application archive

It is highly recommended that you speak with one or more current patrollers and an administrator about any interest you have in the position before you apply. This is not a requirement, but it is a good idea to seek the advice of experienced editors in order to gain a better understanding of what you would have to do for the job and if you are actually ready for it.

How to vote/exampleEdit

I nominate EbonySkyrim for the title of patroller. She has been with us awhile and she has been a help and pleasure the whole time. I have no doubt that she can handle this.

The standard wiki-text formatting for a vote is:

VoteTemplate (rationalization for vote) ~~~~

TemplatesEdit

Insert one of the four templates below to cast a vote.

A staff vote requires a supermajority (2/3) of votes to be supporting in order for the vote to pass.
