Patrollers are users granted the rollback tool to keep the wiki free of any vandalism. With a single click, they can revert edits. Patrollers must apply for their position, and be approved via a community consensus. Only bureaucrats are able to grant their rollback rights.

Duties and privileges

  • Watching the recent changes and checking edits for vandalism. They are responsible for reviewing edits made to all namespaces except for those on Special:Forum.
  • Reporting vandalism to the notice board or notifying an admin on the chat or on their talk page. In the event that an admin is unable to block a vandal, place {{warning}} on the vandal's talk page. This may discourage further vandalism.
  • Patrollers are encouraged to add high traffic articles, good articles, and featured articles to their watchlist to help prevent vandalism.
  • Patrollers have the ability to move pages in the [[File:]] namespace. Images should be given names appropriate to their composition and should not contain an overabundance of numerical characters. File:2334234739784.png is discouraged, while File:Stormcloak Encampment.png is more meaningful and easier to locate.
  • Scout Special:NewPages for recently made articles that may not meet our style and formatting guidelines. Articles found here should be marked as patrolled after being reviewed, by scrolling to the bottom of the article and clicking [Mark this page as patrolled]. This link only appears if the page is opened through Special:NewPages. Before marking a page as patrolled, ensure it contains an infobox, wikilinks, and appropriate categories. Flag the page as a {{stub}} or as needing {{attention}} wherever applicable.
  • Maintain an overall mature and friendly demeanor when interacting with other editors.
  • Practice diplomacy when users make mistakes.
  • Pointing new users to policies and guidelines when necessary.
  • Remaining in contact with other staff through the wiki's official Slack channel.

Maintaining the rollback tool

  • Patrollers who have not edited in exactly 30 days are considered inactive, and will no longer be displayed as active on our staff list unless they can prove they have made a steady return.
  • Patrollers who have gone "rogue" and turned into obvious vandals will have their rollback tool removed automatically. They can petition to have it returned on the consensus track form.
  • Patrollers will not lose their rollback tool or their custodial tools of page patrolling and file renaming if marked as inactive, although the "yellow" coloration of their name is indefinitely revoked. To request that a user be relieved of their rollback tool due to abuse, please petition on the consensus track form. Format the request similar to the rollback nomination layout.

Activity chart

This chart of active admins and patrollers who engage in Recent Changes review will help to coordinate times of the week during which one or several of us are unavailable. Ideally, every day should be pretty evenly spread out in terms of availability. A regular day means that the user in question will review Recent Changes to the best of their ability, as usual; an "off-day" is simply one during which they know that they will be routinely unavailable. Staff should not feel pressured to check Recent Changes during these "off-days."

Nomination and Application archive

It is highly recommended that you speak with one or more current patrollers and an administrator about any interest you have in the position before you apply. This is not a requirement, but it is a good idea to seek the advice of experienced editors in order to gain a better understanding of what you would have to do for the job and if you are actually ready for it.

I nominate EbonySkyrim for the title of patroller. She has been with us awhile and she has been a help and pleasure the whole time. I have no doubt that she can handle this.

Hi everyone, I’ll be applying as a patroller. I believe that after spending much of my time here since joining the Wiki by undertaking projects, watching changes, and helping other editors that my inclusion as a patroller would be more than beneficial as I have grown more experienced both technically and holistically.

I have contributed in many ways that have proven constructive to the Wiki including refactoring and formatting pages, adding and correcting technical content, and engaging with the objective addition of lore and history in a reader-focused and concise manner.[1][2][3] More recently I have taken to ensuring that the contributions of other users, particularly new editors, are consistent with the Wiki’s policies and are demonstrably constructive and, as an extension to this, have attempted to engage with the dissemination of good editing practices to users through feedback and advice.[4][5][6][7] I also think it is worth mentioning that I have prior experience in providing constructive feedback and criticism in educational and academic environments.

My area of focus for contributions on the Wiki is wide ranging from adding technical information through sourcing from Bethesda’s official construction and creations kits which I have used extensively when contributing to the wiki. Additionally, I have involved myself in the rearrangement and rewriting of pages including historical and lore information to be as understandable for common readers as possible.[8][9][10] In general, I believe that the addition of new staff to assist in the continuous improvement of the Wiki will be imperative moving forward and that I, as a patroller, would be able to provide a greater level of assistance.

I hope to be given the honour and opportunity to contribute further to the Wiki as a patroller.

Voting-support.svg Support – For this huge wiki the new staff members are always welcomed, and I believe GreyFox06 will be fine addition to the team. --Rupuzioks (talk) 11:46, October 20, 2019 (UTC)

Voting-support.svg Support – I agree with Rupuzioks; new staff is always welcome, especially with the new content. And I know from personal experience, that GrayFox06 has the dedication, skill and ideas to fully uphold his soon-to-be duty as Patroller, and beyond. —Nehpys ("AlyMar1994") (Talk) 13:44, October 20, 2019 (UTC)

Voting-support.svg Support – GreyFox is clearly a skillful, agreeable, and dedicated editor who has already been putting a lot of effort into both adding content and reviewing other users’ edits to the wiki. We could certainly use some more patrollers right now, and I believe that GreyFox is highly qualified for the role. —Atvelonis (talk) 13:54, October 20, 2019 (UTC)
