The main reason I would like to join the news team is to inform everyone about news on TES. As you know I've created many news blogs for the wiki. Most of the day ( every hour ) I look at Bethesda's tweet wall on any new information for Skyrim so I won't be late on creating news blog if I do join the team. English is my first language and strongest so I won't have any trouble when it comes to creating news blogs. I must admit though, that I sometimes don't double check my blogs, but I eventually look over it and fix grammer and errors. My main strong point is that I had a long experience with creating these types of blogs. To be exact, I've created around 45 news blogs and at least 70 blogs in total. The only side issue is how to correctly format news blogs ( might have to discuss it with me). Here's an example of my news work - Baby named Dovahkiin Here's two examples of what I can do without copying and pasting - Mysteries of TES I | Mysteries of TES II Reply to Jimeee I do see your points here Jimee and that's why I'm planning to actual check over my blogs and change my style a lot more. I act casual because It didn't seem neccessary at the time. I asked a couple of other admins back then about my blog and they said you can use your own style of blogs so I don't really think of it. I CAN write professional but I choose not to. If I do join the team I'll change the way I do things. Simple as that. P.S. My mediocrity on TES Lore isn't exactly my strong point. SupportNeutralOpposeOppose – Just a few points why I oppose. This is nothing personal and don't feel bad if it sounds a little harsh.
Jimeee (talk) 15:15, June 4, 2012 (UTC) Oppose – Your inability to follow the instructions given to you when applying here, I think demonstrates why I oppose this nomination. It's clearly stated that you should leave a link to your userpage in the heading, something you have failed to do. Your lack of knowledge of wiki formatting, point 3 of our criteria, is also worrying. If you had any real knowledge of it, you would be aware of the fact that you should reply to a comment made by someone else by writing underneath it, and indenting by using a : at the start of the line. The fact that you seemingly don't know this, after having 'edited' here for around 11 months, and being a member of Wikia's community council, worries me greatly. The unnecessary use of bolding in a title does not exactly fill me with confidence, either. Comments |

The Milkman
Nomination for User:The Milkman. Successful. | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Welcome to the News Team! :)
Hello, I am the Milkman. I am well-versed in the English language and the proper use of grammar. I strive to make the pages here as neat as possible, and strive for great aesthetic quality as well as general readability. I am capable of relaying any information we find in an entertaining manner, as well as being able to provide my opinion. I won't get the two mixed up ;) For more information, you can read my past blogs here. This is a news blog I wrote on Brutal Legend Wiki, where I am a Bureacrat. --The Milkman | I always deliver. 02:13, August 28, 2012 (UTC) SupportSupport – The Milkman has made some extremely well written and highly popular blogs, these blogs are, in my opinion, well above the usual blog quality of 90% of blogs on this wiki, furthermore, all his blogs to date have been highly informative, very clear, and very sound. I see no way that this editor can be anything other then a asset to this wiki as a whole. I feel as he would be most effective running a opinion section to breaking TES News, although if he were to run any type of news he would do well at it.Mask2697 (talk) 02:25, August 28, 2012 (UTC) Support – Agreed — Gleekobsessed 02:24, August 28, 2012 (UTC) Support – I support The Milkman to be part of the News Team. He is already an experienced writer of high traffic blogs, though they may not be news blogs, I know he will be able to transfer those blogging skills to the News section. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 02:28, August 28, 2012 (UTC) Support – He is the only one qualified to bring us both ice-cold refreshing milk and well written news posts. Aleksandr the Great (talk) 02:46, August 28, 2012 (UTC) Support – His blogs are well written and draw a lot of attention. Balagog gro-Nolob (The Gourmet is listening) 03:48, August 28, 2012 (UTC) Support – I've enjoyed reading his blogs, his writing style has the quality of making you want to keep reading, which is rarely found in any written format in the last several years. Raulfin Talk 04:05, August 28, 2012 (UTC) Support – The blogs are well written, but I see some room for improvement. Nothing big though: Image placement should be inline. Some in Coming Attractions for instance, the image gets ignored by the blog parser on the main page, which results in three linebreaks. Those linebreaks should be avoided in the future. ~ Flightmare (talk) 10:27, August 28, 2012 (UTC) Support – Don't see why not. There is stuff to work on, but that can follow in time. Elchzard (talk) 15:19, August 28, 2012 (UTC) Support – Out of all people, expect me not to say yes? :P some of the best blogs out there and can easily handle high activity. Yes, yes and yes. Why so serious? 15:42, August 28, 2012 (UTC) Support – I've been following his blogs on other wikis, as well, and he easily maintains the same high quality. I'd just suggest more thorough spellchecking for something more official. Ygrain (talk) 15:52, August 30, 2012 (UTC) NeutralNeutral – Not of the mind to write a full critique now, but I will make some general style recommendations. First, ensure the tone of your writing circulates around the subject of the text, not the reader of it. Just like with articles, the reader's identity should only be implied. Try to avoid using "you" and "I". Instead, talk about the subjects in an indirect way. I cannot stress enough how imperative tone is to professionalism. Another issue appears to be image placement. As Flightmare pinpointed, images must be in-line. Quotes longer than two sentences should be placed the way images are. The quote template looks messy on blogs and should be reserves for articles. Use the <blockquote></blockquote> tags instead. Additionally, you must add thumbnail parameters to your images. No hidden, alt text, as seems to be your current style. The caption must be in the thumbnail for optimal readability; also, it's house style. As far as writing style and mood goes, I still feel that the voice is cliche and gimmicky rather than journalistic. Practice makes perfect. I would like to see an Elder Scrolls blog without speculations or original research before I make a yay or nay. Hope you find these comments illuminating. Another minor, less imperative tidbit: contractions, as a house rule, are to be avoided. Cannot versus can't. Do not versus don't. As with numbers, contractions should be written out in formal letter and essay format, excluding o'clock, as is commonly dictated by writing etiquette. --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 10:35, August 28, 2012 (UTC) OpposeCommentsComment – Wanted to respond to Flightmare's and Deyvid's criticisms: 1. How would I make it inline? I will need to know how to to avoid those nasty linebreaks. 2. I always keep "you" and "I" out of content articles, so that should not be much of a problem. Is it bad form to use them at all in news posts? I believe I have seen some news rticles with the word "you" in it. 3. So, should I simply use the {{Quote| template in the future, but surrounded by blockquote tags? 4. I will stick to thumbnails for any future blog posts. I do not really like them, so I typically just set the images to |250|right]] for aesthetic quality on my blogs and other wikis. Understandably however, I can see how making them clearly visible is important for news posts. 5. Not entirely sure what you mean by gimmicky here, though. If you want me to maintain a more nuetral tone for news posts (I don't know how many opinion-based news articles you want) I can keep that seperate from the entertainment-style of my usual blog posts. 6. --The Milkman | I always deliver. 11:31, August 28, 2012 (UTC)

Several of my blog posts have got very popular, including my Second Great War post and my Marriage blog also. I'd like to become a part of the news team because I have a large knowledge of Elder Scrolls Lore and can keep up to date with regular announcements. I'd be an asset to the team as I can write unbiased (or if needed, biased) blogs and posts on everything new about TES. I'm particularly excited about The Elder Scrolls Online, as it will provide the news team a lot of interesting new topics, including who becomes emperor, winning factions and most importantly the lead up to the release as we learn more information. Emperor JarjarkineTalk • Contribs • Edit count Hey there. I've been asked quite often to be part of the news team. The reason why I'd like to join the News Team is to continue to work on the interviews and mabye, being able to categorize thems as a community news. So, since I've got more than 6 propositions, I will apply right now. I'm sure it will be a plus for the community to get to know our administration even better. Since this is called the News team, I believe that the people who wanted me to be part of the team are thinking, that my blogs would be some good news, and, will be a good thing, for the rebuilt of this Wikia.Emperor Jarjarkine The Ragged Flagon - Cistern 06:07, March 8, 2015 (UTC) SupportSupport – -News for the wiki should be more then what is going on with ESO, it should be about what is going on with the wiki as a whole. Jarjarkine does fine without needing a coloured name or a template on their userpage, especially as that is all it means: hell, the user does not even need to go through this, they could just slap the news team template on their page and ask a sysop to add them to the list and they're automatically a member. It gives no additional user rights whatsoever and there are no filters or anything that stops random users like me from categorising their blogs under the Community News category. So I have to be neutral regardless of whether I like the candidate or not, even though Jarjarkine's interviews are interesting. This nomination is a waste of people's time and does absolutely nothing to improve the wiki, there are better things all of us can be doing than voting on something so pointless. --Sajuuk talk | contribs | Channel 12:02, March 9, 2015 (UTC)

I've proven that I look for news related to the series, such as upcoming titles, DLCs, and other information, that (thankfully) I can use mostly-coherent English, that I can use proper formatting for the blogs, write original content, and source my content correctly, the five requirements of being on the news team. – The Crusader of Truth (talk – chat) 00:58, November 26, 2017 (UTC) SupportSupport – Well aren't you a workaholic. The Cat Master (talk) 23:50, November 27, 2017 (UTC) Support – For the longest time, the "recent" blogs on the front page were by...Timeoin, which stood almost as a reminder of what happened. Since then, Crusader has posted numerous important pieces about Elder Scrolls news, and with the current members being relatively inactive right now, I believe another staff member would be ideal. Besides, Crusader has made a decent amount of blog posts already, so he has all of the background that is required; therefore, he's a perfect fit. Poisoned applesTalk • Contribs • Edit count Hello, this is Poisoned Apples. Writing is one of my strongest passions, and considering I already do this weekly on the /d, I would like to branch out and help out on the news team. I am able to gather information and write sourced original content, with some of my best examples here and here. I’m also familiar with editing, having added dialogue to Oblivion character stubs, done rewrites according to the style guide, and added references to certain lore articles as well as fixing spelling and grammar. I have enjoyed contributing both on articles and in the discussions and would love to help out in another way. Thanks! - Poisoned apples (talk) 04:11, October 6, 2018 (UTC) SupportSupport – Poisoned apples would be a great fit for the news team. She's friendly and open to discussion, and is knowledgeable and passionate about TES. Most importantly, she has very strong writing skills—essential for anyone doing news! Although she hasn't written in the User blog namespace yet, she has over 1000 edits on the wiki and is clearly familiar with the use of the wiki's policies and guidelines and editing syntax, so this shouldn't be a problem at all. We could really use some more people on the news team right now, and I think Poisoned apples is an excellent choice. —Atvelonis (talk) 15:56, October 6, 2018 (UTC) Support – I believe Poisoned Apples is one of the best choices for a news team member, having proven both the quality of her writing as well as editing skills in the wiki. She is a much needed addition to the team, especially at this point in time. —Rozty (talk) 16:19, October 6, 2018 (UTC) Support – Poisoned apples is one of the users I often skip checking the revisions she is done, especially for grammar. --Rupuzioks (talk) 16:23, October 6, 2018 (UTC) Support – Linked examples show that she meets the expectations required to become a News Team member. —TinyClayMan (talk) 18:28, October 6, 2018 (UTC) Support – I don't know PoisonedApples, but I know of PoisonApples, in the fact that she's never really causing drama or that sort on the discussions, in addition to editing every so often. Although having a blog is preferable, that can easily be overlooked due to her contributions and frequency on the /d. Ottoman Hold Message Me My Action 01:17:11 October 09, 2018 Support – From everything I know about Poisoned apples, I think that she would be a great addition to the news team. She has proven that she is more than capable of fulfilling news team duties. —Dwemer35 (talk) 20:07, October 9, 2018 (UTC) Support – I think PA would make a great addition to what is, as far as I've seen, a practically dead news team. I've seen her work, and a bit of her writing, and I'm impressed. I don't think she has a bad history on the wiki or the /d either, she has a good reputation. I fully support her nomination. Stygies VIII
Nomination for Stygies VIII. Successful. |

Stygies VIIITalk • Contribs • Edit count Hello, I would like to apply to the News Team for two reasons. One of them is the fact that the team is small and could get some help. The other is that I'm indeed passionate about communicating with communities and writing news or social media posts. I'm also competent to do this. Now I will refer to the seven points from the list of expectations. 1. I follow all news related to The Elder Scrolls no matter whether I'm a news writer or not. I simply do it because I want to know. I even stay up at night every year to watch E3 live. I manage a few Polish groups on facebook, where I post news, including The Elder Scrolls Polska and The Elder Scrolls Online Polska, as well as international groups for TES: Legends and TES: Blades. I used to write multiple news posts and guides for the Polish The Elder Scrolls Wiki when I used to be an administrator and then a bureaucrat there. I also managed the wiki's all social media during 2015-2018 increasing the number of editors and popularity of the wiki. I became a Bethesda.net volunteer moderator (I'm not an employee, only a medium between Polish language users and English staff and a barrier between mayhem and cultured discussion) in 2018 when Bethesda decided to add Polish language to the forums. Sometimes I get news or updates even before the press gets them because I have to get ready for increased traffic on the official forums. I do have NDA signed and I will never break it, but sometimes that can be helpful to look out for news when Bethesda publishes them. But the main, primary reason why I follow all the news is because I just want to. It's my hobby after all. 2. I use English on a daily basis. At work, at wikis, during other activites. I spent five years in two schools with English curriculum (last classes of primary school and whole secondary school). We communicated in English all the time there. In result, I'm pretty much bilingual to this day. I'm one of the leaders of Scribes of Tamriel, a team that creates the fan translation of ESO to Polish. It has been praised by Matt Firor. I translate and coordinate the project.
I also translate at work in an indie gamedev studio, but I'll share only one example because I don't want Fandom to think we would profit from promotion here: http://www.coffeenoirgame.com/2019/04/08/virtual-comic-pages/ I write articles in English and contribute to The Elder Scrolls Wiki and The Imperial Library (by the way, because you'll be checking, I go by the name Aunt Sotha at TIL and some other places now) in fluent English. You can also check the language corectness of my lore articles for Team Rankstar https://teamrankstar.com/author/stygiesviii/ 3. I think you can check out my 1,5k edits. My edits for Blades may be incorrect because I wasn't sure how to build completely new articles for the game without any tips. However, you can see my whole progress because I started editing at this wiki in 2014 and that's how I started editing at all. I'm familiar with your guidelines. What's more, when I find some time, I attend moots and consensus threads. 4. That would be everything I mentioned in answer 1. I tend to write my own posts and articles, not copy them. I also write some articles for students' newspaper at my university. 5. I think that my experience as English The Elder Scrolls Wiki editor, Polish The Elder Scrolls Wiki editor and assistant librarian role at The Imperial Library are proof of my knowledge about sources (and where to find them). Librarians and assistant librarians at TIL are chosen for their knowledge and experience instead of applying. 6. I operate wiki-related social media accounts since 2015:
7. I'm familiar with slack due to using it as Community Councilor and at work. Stygies VIII (My talk | My contributions) 21:25, April 12, 2019 (UTC) SupportSupport – We could really use another member of the news team right now, and for the multitude of reasons that are listed above, I think that Stygies is a pretty great fit. She has a ton of experience in the TES community and with wiki editing, is clearly fluent in English. Social media seems to be something she'd be quite good at, and I would happily see her become staff to help out there! —Atvelonis (talk) 22:25, April 12, 2019 (UTC) Support – Wow, that's a lot of experience! You've obviously got the marketing skills required to increase our online presence and growth. Hope to welcome you to the team soon!—CarloV3r (talk) 08:10, April 13, 2019 (UTC) Support – The News Team is certainly can have more active members. --Rupuzioks (talk) 09:22, April 13, 2019 (UTC) Support – She is more than worthy of this position. —TinyClayMan (talk) 11:31, April 13, 2019 (UTC) Support – After seeing this application it would be strange not to support it. We need more active news members and Stygies has shown that she would be a perfect fit for it. Rozty (talk) 20:26, April 13, 2019 (UTC) Support – All good by me. DaBarkspawn (talk) 02:45, April 14, 2019 (UTC) Support – This is a really great list! She is certainly perfect for the news team with her skills and experience. Poisoned apples (talk) 02:15, April 14, 2019 (UTC) Support – She has my support, her resume looks rather impressive. The Cat Master (talk) 18:30, April 14, 2019 (UTC) Support – A ton of experience, and a great person to boot. Definitely has my vote Aramithius (talk) 21:41, April 16, 2019 (UTC) |

CarloV3rTalk • Contribs • Edit count Hi guys, After discussing it with Atvelonis and some other staff members, I've decided to take their advice and apply to the news team as I believe that even with my limited amount of available time, I can still find ways to contribute through social media management. As some of you might know, I'm a licensed graphic designer/artist so that would be what I'd spend my available time doing: Making social media post designs in co-operation with Stygies, Poisoned Apples & Atvelonis. I've made some graphics for the wiki/our social media in the past, but I'm confident I've improved my design skills since then so I'm sure I'm able to improve our social media outlets with professional graphics and give us a real corporate identity. Hope you guys will have me back and I'm looking forward to being able to contribute again!—CarloV3r (talk) 10:07, March 16, 2020 (UTC) SupportSupport – to be perfectly honest, i don't know what the news team actually does besides the weekly update. still, you've shown to be a dedicated contributor in the past, so i think you're well suited for the position. Ashley (talk) 13:06, March 16, 2020 (UTC) Support – Carlo has always been a great boon to the Wiki and any way he thinks he can help best is more than welcome. I'd be interested in seeing what kind of media and news improvements he can make. I'm sure that any proposition that may increase positive attention to the Wiki or improve the community internally would be greatly appreciated by everyone. Grey Fox (talk) 13:31, March 16, 2020 (UTC) Support – per above --Shockstorm (talk) 14:11, March 16, 2020 (UTC) Support – Carlo has been a great help with design elements of the wiki in the past, which are useful for blogs and for maintaining our social media pages (particularly Instagram). He made all the pretty little "propaganda" posters, for example, like this. Very talented and would be a great help on the news team, not to mention a stabilizing presence on the team as a whole. —Atvelonis (talk) 14:49, March 16, 2020 (UTC) Support – I don't have much else to do other than repeat what the others have already said. Carlo has already shown what he is capable of and is great to have around. Rozty (talk) 14:58, March 16, 2020 (UTC) Support – I saw their graphic work that would be very good for our social media. If me and PoisonedApples could use Carlo's help, it would be awesome. I also support what was said above. Stygies VIII (My talk | My contributions) 15:01, March 16, 2020 (UTC) Support – I'm not that good about the news, but he did a great job earlier with the staff roles and published artwork. --Rupuzioks (talk) 15:30, March 16, 2020 (UTC) Support – Good to see you back! I don't know what to say that hasn't been said already, but given his contributions in the past, I support his nomination. The Cat Master (talk) 16:41, March 16, 2020 (UTC) Support – Carlo has been of great help with social media in the past, and his graphic designs do really well. I would like to improve on the content we post and Carlo would be suited for this position with the skills and talent he has. Poisoned apples (talk) 22:52, March 16, 2020 (UTC) Support – Agreed with the above statements. Its good to see you back carlo, even if you're not a patroller/administrator. :P Starkiller131 (talk) 06:10, March 17, 2020 (UTC) Support – TinyClayMan (talk) 18:01, March 23, 2020 (UTC) |

Amulet of Kings
Dear TES wikians,
I am writing to apply for the News Team position. The Elder Scrolls has been an important part of my life, and this has lead me to regularly check the official news sources from Bethesda and Zenimax, as well as other sources such as the Weekly Updates of the wiki. I would like to do my bit by personally contributing to the diffusion of the information about TES related news.
I am familiar with the social media accounts the wiki operates. It has been brought to my attention that the news team is trying to expand their social media focus. I would be willing to regularly post trivia and polls, as well as other content in order to increase the impact of the wiki in said social media. These posts could have a similar structure to the Weekly Lore Series or Featured page of the Day threads I posted on the Discussions. I believe that one of my strong points is to transmit information in an humorous and entertaining manner.
I would also be interested in writing blog posts about the latest updates and DLCs for ESO and future TES games. You can read some of my blog posts for reference:
- How to play Skyrim Very Special Edition on Windows 10
- How to play The Elder Scrolls Travels games on Windows
I already know most of the staff from my time as a moderator, so I think that I would make a great workmate. Moreover, I am familiar both with the policies of the wiki and the wikitext language.
To sum up, I believe that my knowledge about the news sources and the wiki guidelines makes me a qualified applicant for the news team.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Your faithfully,
Amulet of Kings (talk) 22:12, May 30, 2020 (UTC)

Support – I very much enjoyed working with Amulet during his time as a moderator, and I’d be happy to have him back on the team again, whatever role he ends up in. I think that his editorial experience more than covers the technical requirements of the position, and his interest in the series and general commitment to the wiki is sufficiently clear to me. Good luck, Amulet! —Atvelonis (talk) 01:28, May 31, 2020 (UTC)
Support – I support Amulet's application, he certainly meets the requirements. Having followed all of his post series on Discussions in the past, I think he would make a fine addition to the team and it would be great to see that kind of content on our social media. Poisoned apples (talk) 01:44, May 31, 2020 (UTC)
Support – Not much to say here apart from the obvious. Amulet, as a prior staff member, is familiar with the Wiki's practices and, being prominent in Discussions both as a casual contributor and a moderator in the past, undoubtedly understands the social aspects of the Wiki and of The Elder Scrolls in general. Such an understanding is critical in being an effective member of the News Team and, as such, his addition would be more than welcomed by myself, particularly in light of our goal to expand the Wiki's social media presence. Given his prior experience and demonstrated passion for the Wiki and The Elder Scrolls, I have no doubt that he will be a great addition. Grey Fox (talk) 04:41, May 31, 2020 (UTC)
Support – Works for me. DaBarkspawn (talk) 05:59, May 31, 2020 (UTC)
Support – Not much to say here, he has already experience, due to being a staff member earlier. --Rupuzioks (talk) 12:20, May 31, 2020 (UTC)
Support – I think Amulet would be a good person to add to our team. They already know how to write well, like in the guides linked by them, and has been part of the wiki's community and also staff in the past. I support this application. – Stygies VIII (My talk | My contributions) 14:41, May 31, 2020 (UTC)
