Not to be confused with Blade of the Pale.

The Pale Blade is a unique, leveled Ancient Nord Sword that appears in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Acquisition

The Pale Blade can be looted from the body of Ra'jirr after he is killed by The Pale Lady in Frostmere Crypt.

Choosing to place The Pale Blade on the pedestal nearby will appease The Pale Lady, and she will leave. However, picking up The Pale Blade again will cause her to reappear. In order to keep the weapon, she must be defeated.

Smithing

The Pale Blade can be upgraded with a Steel Ingot and the Arcane Blacksmith perk at a grindstone. It also benefits from the Steel Smithing perk, which doubles the improvement.

Levels

The damage, weight, and value, as well as the magnitude of the enchantment, are based on the level the Dragonborn is when the sword is obtained. The best possible version is available at level 27.

Trivia

  • PC users can type player.additem 000F5D2E 1 into the console and let the game's level system randomly choose which version of the weapon to add.
  • The special enchantment on this weapon is called "Ice Terror."
  • When The Pale Blade is on its place, it recharges the "Ice Terror."
  • Often overlooked, The Pale Blade's highest level provides double the stamina drain effect than usual at 50 points. This makes it the highest stamina drain effect acquirable without enchanting. Max-level and perked enchanting can only make a 25-point drain without use of potions, bonuses, or exploits.
