The Staff of Magnus is a quest available in The Elder Scrolls Online.
Background[]
Queen Ayrenn must deal with the aftermath of her brother's betrayal and settle matters in Grahtwood. In the meantime, she asked me to travel to Marbruk, in Greenshade, and secure the Staff of Magnus from its vault.

Walkthrough[]
Upon completing "The Orrery of Elden Root" and watching Queen Ayrenn prove herself worthy of becoming Empress, she will ask you to go on another mission for her. This time, she asks you to go to Greenshade to ensure the safety of the Staff of Magnus.
Head to Marbruk in Greenshade and seek out Captain Sarandil. He will know why you are here, and will offer to escort you to the vault where the Staff is held. Follow him and he will escort you to the town's Mages Guild. The vault is inside; continue following Captain Sarandil and he will unlock it. Head in after him and you will find yourself in a room with several exotic plants. You can examine these plants and Sarandil will tell you something about them, but this is not necessary for the quest. Speak with Captain Sarandil and he will open the door to the Relic Room. In this room, you will find several Ayleid relics; you can examine these and Captain Sarandil will again tell you something about them, but just like with the plants, this is not necessary to complete the quest. Speak with Sarandil again to be let into the Inner Vault, where the Staff of Magnus is stored.
Your task is to secure the staff, but once you try to take it, it will disappear. Speak with Sarandil about this and he will theorize that this staff was an illusion and that the real staff has been burgled. The only person who has recently had access to the staff is Vicereeve Pelidil, so he is your prime suspect. Head back out of the vault and speak with Captain Sarandil in the Mages Guild. He will tell you that Vicereeve Pelidil went out into the wilderness with Prince Naemon's body, supposedly on official business. Sarandil will ask you to inform Queen Ayrenn of all of this.
The moment you are done speaking with Sarandil, a herald will announce the arrival of Queen Ayrenn. Head outside and speak with her to finish the quest.
