  • I need to talk to Proventus about buying a house, but i can’t, Irileth scares me, she watches me like a hawk, her cold black eyes follow me everywhere, even when i go buy a spell. I can’t be in Dragonsreach without her watching me, I’m freaking out!

    • Did you attack her or attack someone in front of her? If not I don't see the problem, she's going to stop you the first time you come because that's her job.

    • Face your fears, dude. Take the problem head on and strut through Dragonsreach without hesitation.

    • Exactly, she's far from being the most dangerous thing you'll see in this game.

    • I did accidentally use my unrelented force shout on her, because my cat decided to bump my controller. I paid my fine, but she still hates me, she isn’t attacking me anymore, but still, she watches me like a hawk.

    • Just go to the steward, you have nothing to fear.

    • I'm trying to postpone the main quest line awhile as an experiment.  Irileth challenges me every time I go into Dragonsreach with her spiel about the jarl not receiving visitors, sometimes several times per visit, when I want to use the arcane enchanter or trade with the mage.  It's annoying.  I just press <tab> without telling anyone about the dragons.  This must be Bethesda's way of encouraging people to start the main quest line right away so they must deal with dragons as well as everything else.  I'm just trying to get prepared better than I was the first time I played but I'm not sure it's working very well.
