Hi all, Atvelonis here with the weekly update. How are you all doing on this fine Tuesday evening? As you can tell, this update is not being published on time, so I will be excluding content from after the 29th. If you would like to opt out of receiving these threads, please install the AnnouncementsIgnore script for personal use. Anyway, let's get started!
TES news
- ZeniMax recently published a blog titled "Preview the Mysteries and Dangers of Murkmire" where they discuss some of the themes, creatures, quests, items, and more that will be coming when the Murkmire add-on to The Elder Scrolls Online is released later this year.
- The company also put out the Crown Store Showcase for October 2018, featuring costumes, crafting motifs, outfit styles, some Murkmire content, housing, furniture, mounts, pets, polymorphs, and even a werewolf/vampire cure for players.
- Sparkypants Studios has officially taken over development of The Elder Scrolls: Legends from Dire Wolf Digital. With the change comes a new interface and gameboard, improved animations, performance improvements, changes to card frames, and tweaks to the tutorial.
- We are in the process of uploading new versions of the cards right now. We will be keeping the old images as well, so please do not overwrite them entirely—just move them to a gallery if you have a new card image as well.
- Sparkypants also released Patch 2.1 for Legends on the 29th, which brings changes to login and performance, rewards, general gameplay, audio, and the user interface. For more information, see here.
- Bethesda published a news post the other day giving some more information about The Elder Scrolls: Blades and the presentation that the company gave at Apple's fall presentation this month, which you can check out here.
Wiki news
- The "Reforming the Article Status Nomination Process" thread on the CT Board is still open. Please comment your thoughts on the proposal, even if it's just stating your approval. We need more input to make a change!
- As of the 23rd, Dwemer35 is our newest Discussions Moderator. Congratulations Dwemer, it's great to have you on the team!
- Myself and the other administrators are beginning to think about organizing a holiday raffle for 2018, as we did in 2015 and 2017. I would like to expand the scope of this year's raffle to encourage more participation (via more/bigger prizes), although this would increase the cost on our end substantially. I'm looking into potentially getting funding from Wikia and/or Bethesda to help achieve this. Even if that doesn't pan out, we will definitely still have a raffle of some sort in December.
- We've gotten a lot of contributions this week. Here are a few editors who have been doing a great job adding content lately:
- Blademaster Jauffre – Skyrim dialogue
- FrisyN – Online quest and map images
- The Dagonator – Orsinium character images
- Thifike – Online book images
- Vincentius1 – Gideon, Solstheim, Storm Atronach
Wikia news
- There is a new staff blog titled "How we're testing the fandom.com domain migration." In this blog, they lay out their plan for the dreaded URL migration (from
wikia.com
tofandom.com
), which will start with a batch of 3200 test communities in early October. TESWiki is not one of these test communities, so our URL will change once the final migration occurs. The test will give us insight into precisely how TESWiki's SEO will be affected by that next year. - Wikia has miraculously done something useful for once and added hyperlinks to Discussions, as they laid out in the technical update for September 25, 2018. The feature currently only works on desktop, and the release still has a few bugs associated with it, which I have laid out in more detail here.
That's about all I have for this week, folks. I hope everyone is having a wonderful week, and as always, happy editing! —Atvelonis (talk) 01:10, October 3, 2018 (UTC)
