I am of the opinion that news stories that are featured prominent on the main page should follow a certain tone. A tone that is concise, informative, and above all, professional. It is often the first thing new users to this site will see, so any news stories that are below standard simply harms this wiki's already mixed reputation.
Online news will be pouring in soon, and if our news stories are unfocused then people will go elsewhere for their news.
One of the reasons for creating the TESwiki News Team was to remove all the poorly written news articles that were appearing on the front page, and it worked somewhat. However we need additional ground rules.
I'm sorry it has had to come to this, but to put it bluntly I believe the front page should only contain news stories written from a completely neutral point of view. They should make very little or no references to the person writing them. Most of all they must not be written in a casual or "chatty" tone that is more appropriate to a user blog or forum post.
I leave it in your hands TESwiki. Decide the future of the front page news. If you have anything to add or oppose/support then leave a comment using the {{support}}, {{oppose}} or {{VoteComment}} templates.
