  • When I try to move my childrens to Lakeview Manor theres no option for this place. Does anyone know how to fix this bug ?

      Loading editor
    • Have you got the items required for children to move in? A bed and a chest? Adoption#Prerequisites

        Loading editor
    • If you got all the items required but the options still don't appear, try to ask your wife or husband about moving.

        Loading editor
    • Has anyone else encountered the bug where the achievment on Steam don't unlock when buying this, or infact any house or fully upgrading them?

        Loading editor
    • (PS3) I have the same problem. My husband and two children lived in Breezehome. My husband could be asked to move but the dialouge did not come up for the children. I have two children beds and two childrens chests In the house already.

    • Just leave 'em there.  What difference does it make?  You're not playing The Simms.

        Loading editor
    • They will complain about wolves, bears and etc. when you move your family there. Kids may love it but wife/husband naggs about it

    • Not to mention the giants and vampires.

    • And the fact that there's a freakin' necromancer altar, bloody skeleton and everything, within spitting distance of the back porch...kinda killed the location for me, I can't have my children running around playing on a Necromantic altar  =/

    • I have hearthfire and moved into lakeview, you have to have a childs bed in the main hall, no other room, the main hall. sense i had all the rooms furnished, i cant put a bed in there so i will have to move to another plot of land.

        Loading editor
    • No, you just need to grab all your stuff from any containers in that hall, and convert it.

        Loading editor
    • I had the same problem then I found a solution that worked for me on the internet. Sleep in lakeview (I slept 12hours) then go back to breezehome or whatever your child lives and ask him and the dialog appeard for me :) hope this help.

    • i cant seem to build a Main Hall, the option doesnt show up on the Drafting Table.

      HELP?!

    • Get as master bedroom with small beds for the kids and then ask your spouse to move there.

BTW, I always think of it as the perfect retirement home for the Dragonborn to settle down and raise a family. Nice cosy place in the woods near the lake with a majestic view of Throat of the World.

    • I am currently having the same error, and thier seems to be no way to fix this bug.

    • i am also having this problem. one of my children randomly shows up at lakeview manor sometimes but she just leaves and goes back to my previous home. this is VERY annoying. when i ask my wife to move she says she'll "see me there" but she doesnt move

    • I only asked the wife and my daughter moved by herself.

    • I am also having an issue with Lakeview Manor, I have the beds and the chests I spoke with Blaise & Sophie and went through the whole convo. It let me adopt both of them, however, when I go to Lakeview Manor (The only house I own) They are never there. Any suggestions?

        Loading editor
    • Buy the house in Whiterun & maybe they'll show up there, then you can move them to Lakeview Manor.

        Loading editor
    • thanks for posting that it help

    • For me, when I ask my wife to move, she asks where, and then the dialogue box dissapears. The dialogue option to ask my kids to move isn't there. This is on the PC version.

    • Nevermind, I fixed it. But my children won't move with my wife

    • so i have to build the childs bed inthe bedroom additem to my house.  i intended to use that as the master bedroom so i never built them.  sharing a room with your kids is just f**ked up.  should have gone with the green house....

If by "Companion" you actually mean they're from The Companions, it depens on who you're talking about, Farkas and Vilkas are both essential, Aela isn't anymore after the quest line.

    • I built Lakeview Manor as my first home, got married, built the whole house with the greenhouse option. I told my husband we were moving, no problem, then I adopted two kids. Now when I moved to Proudspire, my husband says no problem I'll get everything ready, easiest move I ever made. I left Lake View, even though I loved it, due to the ridiculous amount of bandit, and giant attacks, wolf attacks and so on. I couldn't leave the house without being in sneak mode and a weapon at the ready. Solitude is much safer, and the house is like a palace. I miss my greenhouse though. Winstad manor is nice with my kitchen, but way too creepy for children, and Hjellarchen hall is too cold, and gets regular attacks too. I wish they would let you build one house with all the options, there is certainly enough land. If you have the money, I don't understand why the game limits you to so few options for a house you are building. Having the children sleep in the large bedroom suite is weird to us, but the ancient Norse cultures, and most others, all slept in the same rooms basically. Not like we do today.

    • Um, Wiki contributor who calls themselves maria cooke,.Do NOT ever send me this kind of nutty trash again. It sounds like a hack attempt. If you are genuine and believe this crock, then I am sorry for you. I have my own ways in REAL life, and I need no help from this individual. We all walk our own paths, and it's challenges, for a REASON. So says my spiritual and magickal belief and practices, in real life. And I play my game pretty much the exact same way as reflects my real life beliefs. Please stop sending this stuff to any wiki players, it's just wrong.

    • Well, I can't move my family to Lakeview Manor. I have builded everything, got all the furniture (for kids and adults) and decorations (even in the cellar). I own all the 8 houses in Skyrim and the one in Solstheim, I have no mods that affect the Falkreath hold or homesteads.

I also have the Hearthfire unnofficial patch. Runned the latest BOSS a lot of times and it didn't fix the problem. I've slept at least 24 hours in the house, stored objects and gold in the chests and containers, put items in the weapons/shield racks, crafted potions and enchanted stuff, coocked healthy food, and plants are growing up in all the slots in the garden.

The workbenches are all removed. The stewardess, the housecarl and the carriage driver seem to function normally. Giants, bandits, hired thugs, wolves and dragons attack as expected, so I don't have livestock because it dies quickly.

When I ask my wife to move, all the houses appear except Lakeview Manor. Why??? Is this a remmanent of a bug or something?? Maybe someone has fixed it with console commands??? I am lvl 80, finished most of the quests, my poor wife and daughters were stuck in Breezehome for more than 50 levels, I don't want to start again, at least this year :(

    • Sorry, I mean't "built", not "builded"

        Loading editor
    • You did build the chests for their beds?  They won't move without chests being built, for some odd reason. LakeView is the most bug filled house in the game. I gave up on it and moved to Proudspire, much better. Except no darn cooking pot in the vanilla game. I ended up modding the hell out of my game, now I am happy. There are fixes for that bug on Steam, and on the Nexus, if you wish to download a mod. It may or may not fix it. I would pick another house. As you say you own all. I cooked elsewhere, but no one can eat it anyway, I couldn't even get a mod to work right for that.

After modding Lakeview to have an entire stockade fence and a stout gate, plus a pool and lush patio with garden, I moved back.I would not have without the mods.

Maybe someone else can think of a console command, I use them a lot, but don't know any to fix that problem. Children like Proudspire. Spouses do too, I think.

    • (You can skip to the second paragraph if you don't think this stuff could cause a glitch) Two years late, but eh... I bought out the breezehome in Whiterun, then adopted Vigilance, Braise and Sophie. I accepted a marriage proposal from Vladimar, then before I married him I moved into Windstad Manor. I hired him as a steward and married him, then invited him to live with me, so now he stays at the house and collects building materials. I decided to clear out the area before I moved my kids, and I've killed a ton of giants, hags, vampires, and dragons.

Now that it's safe, I've tried moving my kids into the house, but there's no "It's time for us to move" activation. How can I move my kids out and bring my dog home?

    • guys can anyone help me here? i live in lakeview currently, it's fully upgraded and my two kids live here too. A few days ago i got married, but whatever i do, my wife just doesn't want to move to the house. The choice appears in the menu, but no matter how many times i click it and how long I wait it just doesn't happen. I even tried to remarry her with console commands. i don't know what to do now

    • well I don't know if you can add mods to your game, Steam is free to join and download. A mod called spouses can live everywhere..that will fix your problem.

        Loading editor
    • oh, if you have a previous save from when you started building, you may try loading and rebuilding all over, just bulid the bedroom and the kids rooms, and the main dining hall..see what happens. I would do the mod if you can..save yourself a wholelot of trouble, plus there are other mods that stop the attacks that plague Lake View, stop the mannequins from wandering, etc. Lake View is challenging to live in for sure. I gave up and moved to Proudspire in the vanilla game.

    • Spouses Can Live Everywhere is a bit out of date. Its a good idea to move to your spouses house first as that can stop a few bugs and moving from house to house can sometimes help if a spouse refuses to move, but if you have the dialog to move and shes just stuck in the house (it can happen in Breezehome) you could try going to Lakeview and teleporting her to you with the commands (her refID can be found on her page) -

What if it's on the xbox 360 version and you can't get mods?

    • Try moving to other houses first or just leave it for a while and check back every now and then (and make sure the house is suitable).

    • Ok, so I was reading the article on Ysolda. If you ask her to move to Lakeview, will she still be running to Whiterun and up to Dragonsreach? BTW I'm on the Xbox 360.

        Loading editor
    • When you marry her and ask her to move anywhere other than her own home she won't follow that schedule anymore, living in Lakeview she should never go more than a meter or two away from the house. For me shes always either in the house or on the balcony.

    • This sucks. Before my wife (Camilla Valerious) the dialogue always said "its time for us to move" but I never chose it because we were happy in Windhelm. I do have a breezehome in Whiterun, but that was before I had a family. Anyways, I got Hearthfire and adopted Sofie and Blaise as well as marrying Camilla. My house is almost ready except for the main hall at LakeView manor. Clearly it's a nice house, but now the dialogue to move isn't there for anyone in my family! I have a steward, bard and a carriage as well as a stable and some chickens and cows. Do I need to furnish the main hall or something for this to work? I really want to move them, because I was told that when they live outside the city's they are more likely to adopt wild pets. I just want help on this because I can'r find out if its a bug. By the way I'm on an Xbox 360 so no mods will work.

    • You need beds for everyone and for the children storage too, the Main Hall can have those or the Bedroom, you might have to remove the work benches to get the option to appear.

        Loading editor
    • Thank you so much! I added children chests and I decorated the main hall as well as removing workbenches. My entire family lives in the Lakeview Manor now so thank's for your help:)

    • All you need is in the home is a: Childs bed (if you have 2 kids you need 2) Childs chest (if you have 2 kids you need 2) And if you are married you need a double bed for your sprout and you I've done it and my sprout says yes so no saying it doesn't work or just try the thing again The dodvaking

    • first get married then after that ask your wife or husband to go to whatever  house you want. And then your kids should follow you. If they dont follow you then i would go to them after you get married and see if you can ask them to follow.

    • I know this is an old thread, but i ran into the same problem on ps3, and this is what i did: kids beds/storage trunks, a few full beds, and a few more storage trunks, then i left my follower Serana the vampire at lakeview inside the house, and went to get the wife and kids, then the option apeared to move there, keep in mind though, lakeview still does not show up as a house owned for some reason. (I own 3, but it is still two in stats) hope this helps.
