At adept difficulty by myself, I got to it at level 16. Starting at the Nightprowler level, as little as two Falmer can effectively take down a Dwarven Centurion; causing them to be a bigger threat than the Centurion.
If you are talking to me, no, I did it alone. Some lightning spam first, then I run in with elemental fury and hacked away with the blades sword (My one handed was very high, one slash was doing 35 - 40 damage, I also had fortify 1 hand gauntlets), while keeping behind the centurion (I was a breton and used the lord stone, so the steam didn't do much). Whenever I had magicka, I blasted it with more lightning.
My character now has incredible stats, so up to 3 power attacks kill anything - including the legendary dragons everyone complained about

Lol, Centurions are really easy if you don't let them hit you with those hands. They also turn very slowly. Just keep behind them and they can't do anything to you. Their AI is crap anyway.
Also, 3 hit legendary dragon kill? Easy if you have a whole set of armor enchanted with fortify 1 handed, a stalhrim sword with chaos and lifeleech, all enchanting done with a 40% stronger selfmade potion, azhidal's armor, the mage passive from the black book and a breton with lots or resists.
I ONE HIT legendary dragons on novice. 2000 HP is nothing. I did the math, sword with 800 Phys (enchants on armor + vampire with necromage + smithing gear + max power potion of smithing = powersword), 127 lifeleech and 300++ chaos (Azhidal mask worn) =1800++ dmg on best case scenario, with power attack that brings up the damage to at most 2600, which is more than enough to 3 hit on expert (I am mostly on adept nowadays). Dual wield such swords and those dragons are a piece of cake even on legendary (one triple power attack averages 1400x3, which is 4200, 4 power attacks will kill the dragon, maybe 6 if chaos does not proc at all and only 3 and one normal if chaos always procs). Its called min-maxing.
I must be too much of a geek, maybe I should play tabletop D&D. I said too much, maybe we should go back on topic.
On adept, I think a legendary dragon has about 4500 hp plus minus 150. Thus, with a good chaos proc using my sword, it 2 hits, it takes at most 4 hits, but 3 mostly.
So unnamed field marahal, how much damage does your weapon do? You could do the math yourself, I provided the rough stats. If lets say you have the requisite perks for crafting but not destruction, you might only have 65 to 80 chaos and 35 lifeleech. You will still get about 600 with the sword if you don't min max that much, which means about 800 dmg at most, averaged out maybe 7 hits on adept for legendary dragon? Could be a lot more if you don't use top tier gear
A little off-topic but not really, does anyone know where Dwarven Centurions respawn? I'm trying to get Centurion Cores to craft daedric armor and a few weapons. I've heard Blackreach but they don't seem to respawn...
Quick question, how many of you saying that you got one on level 15- were on Expert+.
