Hi everyone. When I read the elder scroll, I get the scroll effects around the edges of the screen and watch the heroine take down one of the dragons. I get through their next conversation and the heroine announces, "Alduin Approaches". The heroes take their stances and ... nothing. There are two dragons circling and calling but neither of them land. I've watched for 30 minutes, two separate times. Any ideas? I can't move, I can only look around.
Thanks so much! I travelled to Fort Dawnguard and read the scroll there, instead of at the Time Wound (Throat of the World). I learned the Dragonrend shout. When the cinematic was over, I was automatically transported to the Throat of the World, ready to address Alduin. :)

I've waited just as long on PS4. I tried fast traveling to another location, reading the scroll, then waiting 24 hours, then going to the throat of the world and reading the scroll. But this just caused the same bug to repeat. I'm on PS4 so I can't use console commands. Any ideas, guys?
I was having this same problem on my Xbox1. I would get the cut scene but it wouldn't ever end...just lots of circling dragons. So as suggested, I read the scroll in Riverwood--any place works, I suppose--waited 24 hours and then headed back to the Throat of the World. I did have to read it again in the time wound but then it kept going, I learned Dragonrend and fought Alduin. Thanks for the advice, all.
I tried to figure this one out on my own and I'm stumped. I read the elder scroll at the time wound and was transported to the ancient battle. At first I looked around, and after a very long battle the game crashed. Several times. So I tried what someone suggested and didn't look around, and the battle was taking place behind me, which didn't seem right. I still learned Dragon Rend, but the scene went on and on, the woman hitting Alduin with her sword while her two companions stood there doing nothing. I finally resorted to staging the quest, 100, so I could get out of it. Problem was, when I arrived back at the Throat of the World, Alduin was already on the ground. I started fighting him, and Paarthunax keeps yelling for me to use dragon rend to knock him out of the air, while he's on the ground. I dropped his bar to nothing about ten times and it was obvius this thing wasn't going to end (and Paarthunax kept hitting me with his fire breath). I went back to the quick save I made right after coming back from the past scene, and ran away, hoping that Alduin would jump into the sky and we could have at it. No such luck. While he said his lines, he remained on the ground, Paarthunax kept yelling for me to use Dragon Rend to pull him to the ground, and I kept dropping his bars to zero, only to see him come back to full health and keep fighting. I need to find the way to get past this, somehow, so I can continue the game. Any help would be appreciated.
Go there when there isn’t a dragon following you. A voice will gove a long boring speech, then read the scroll where the arrow is. Fixed the problem for me. I’m about to fight alduin. Anyway the dragon being in the scene may affect the programming with contradictory programming since you can’t do certain things when a dragon is too close by.
Worked perfectly the second time around. Glad i looked it up though. I had suspicions that more was supposed to happen than making me watch two people stare motionlessly at a dragon for 15 minutes. The dragon that was following me was still swooping down and attacking but doing no damage. It’s just a glitch probably.
Hello ! If anyone is still wondering how to make it work for the ps4 I found the solution on a youtube comment and it worked for me ! I had tried everything and nothing would work until this. "It literally has to do with where you’re standing when you read the scroll. Put the camera in third person view look over the top of your character and back away from the time wound marker about 5 times the thickness of your character sorry don’t really know how to measure actual distance in game...... so anyway then read the scroll, if it doesn’t work you are not far enough away from the time wound center hopefully this helps I know how frustrating it is."
