so i've been trying for a while now to become thane of falkreath by completing misc. quest that were radient and some that weren't, yet i've still haven't been prompted by jarl siddgeir to help people and become thane. i recieved a letter from him when i began the game and waited a little while to go to falkreath and be prompted to become thane.
just wondering if anyone has experienced this same problem or has a solution to it because it seems that this is may be a bug or that one of my main quest, i guess, are radient and if so which one.
...and this is with the hearthfire and dawnguard dlc if that matters.
If you have the letter offering you the land then go get it and talk to the Jarl after. You don't get offered the Thane title from anywhere else but Whiterun everywhere else you have to ask for it (is there anything else i can do for you), the list of the assist the people quests is here on the wiki page.

yea i wasn't recieving that prompt. i did quite a bit more research on what was happening and it turns out it was a bug because i killed Helvard for a dark brotherhood mission, but i found a way around this bug by giving the Falkreath hold to the stormcloaks during the quest season unending from the main storyline. thanks for the help though!
Well, the quest ID is Favor258. If you can´t complete it, then use the console and set it at 100. My bug is that I helped the people before the Jarl asked me to, so now there´s no way to complete the quest. I´ll just heave to use the console ;-/
I have a similar issue with falkreath jarl, he sent me the letter but when i went to see him he only has 2 available dialogues, whitch are no use to me, basicly i cant advance in the quest, and i have no idea why... he tells me to come back later
could the problem be that i murdered that guy i dont know his name for the black brotherhood before i start this?
I found a glitch were I went to jail in Windhelm for who knows what. First I decided to try and escape. So I tried to pick the lock and my lock pick broke. So then bored and completely helpless I punched the wall and it said that I had helped a person of falkreath. I did it again and it happened again. I then went to a past save and did it again and it worked. For some reasons whenever I committed a crime then attacked it counted for my quest!
Dont know why but I have done all quests for Falkreath, O even have a bottle of black-briar mead and I still cant get him to talk to me to be able to buy land. What do I do I want to build my house.
Did you do the Dark Brotherhood questline yet? One of the quests have you kill his housecarl, and a bug occurs that makes him know that you did it, causing him not to offer to make you a thane or to purchase land. You have to do all that before you kill Helvard, or else you cannot do it.
I was having the same problem of not getting the Falkreath Jarl to make me a Thane. I had completed all the possible quests that were there. Then suddenly upon reaching level 41 there was the note in the Miscellaneous quests to see the jarl. When I went to him the "I've helped your people." dialog was there, and wonder of wonders I am a Thane and have a Housecarl.
i am level 10, i've done bounties for the innkeeper in falkreath, i've become a bard at the college, and i've gotten a letter, asking me to become Thane...and....there's only the two dialog options.
I've not done any Dark Brotherhood things, or killed anyone in the town, nothing.
