  • So the wiki page for Vampire Armor says that it gets Matching Set with the Shrouded Cowl. While I like this, as it is lore-friendly (yeah it looks like Serana's hood so sue me), I want to ask of any of you if the Worn or Ancient varieties of the Shrouded Cowl work as well. Thanks in advance.

    • just try them all and see if it works

    • Excuse me but I don't exactly see how "see if it works" is done. As far as I know, there is no indication in the game that tells you whether Matching Set is currently in effect.

    • your armor rating will jump more than the value of the armor when you put it on if the matcing set perk activates, it should be pretty noticeable.

    • Sounds simple enough. Can't believe I've never noticed that before. Thanks!

    • Also, when you complete a matching set, your character will get a green glow similar to when you absorb stamina. Easy to notice in third person when you equip a helmet.

    • Ooh whoa, thank you contributor 68.205.70.205!!! I didn´t know that, and have been sometimes wondering what is that glow about (never bothered to find out though), so thanks!! It usually happens to me when I have Savior´s Hide, Forsworn boots and Gauntlets, and a Skaal Hat. Now I don´t know how that makes a matcing set but definitely it gives that green glow when I have that set equipped. Good to know, and keep on eye on that effect for further :)

    • Your set of skaal hat, saviors hide and forsworn boots & gauntlets glow green because the green glow is for the stamina regen perk "wind walker". It has nothing to do with the matching set perk

    • Oh ok, of course, thanks! Now that I think of it, I don´t even have the matching set perk because I use enchanted circlets a lot (and never the actual matching sets), so I figured that particular perk wouldn´t help me much.. wow I feel soooo smart right now, sorry :D

    • So, did somebody try Worn or Ancient varieties? Do they work?

    • I think this thread deserves an actual answer instead of "figure it out."

Confirmed works for Ancient Shrouded Cowl.

    • Also when you equip the vampire armour, the screen will turn red for a few seconds and the character has a pop up saying 'you are experiencing a strange thirst.'

    • I think vampire armour should be more of value considering how far I traveled just to get it also I was expecting better weapons I got an axe a stell sword and an iron dagger

bruh what you mean how far you traveled you can get like twenty sets of the sh*t just by doing the first dawnguard quest lol

    • I don't normally post here, but I felt it worth chiming in to mention that the Shrouded Cowl does not actually infer the benefits of the Matching Set perk. The jump in Armor Rating that you're seeing is from the Custom Fit perk which is a prerequisite for Matching Set. If Matching Set were kicking in, the Armor Rating would be even higher.

If there are any doubts put on a set of vampire armor (normal or royal, it doesn't matter), highlight the cowl without putting it on. Then, calculate the normal armor rating if adding the Cowl, then add 25% to that number. That's the Custom Fit bonus. Finally, calculate an additional 25% for the Matching Set bonus (or even just an additional 50% from the base total) and equip the Cowl. The numbers don't match up for having both bonuses, considering the full set is light armor and therefore benefits from Custom Fit.

    • Do you get matching set for the vampire hood? I would prefer that over the cowl so can use circlets in conjunction.
