  • I was building Lakeview last night and left some of my stuff in the chest outside (you know the one by the crafting tables). When I come back I see two dead bandits on the ground.. and I´m feeling bad alreeady! Thank the divines I had "detect dead" -spell.. hrrr I don´t even want to think about it!

--> I found the third bandit so far from the house, that if I didn´t have that spell, I would have never found him. And why should I care..? Well, as I looted him, he had my Staff of Magnus, that´s why!!!

I totally freaked out, and still can´t get over it. Cause if I didn´t look for him but instead just went inside, he would have disappeared to Oblivion - my Staff of Magnus with him!? I would have noticed days later that "Oh where is my Staff" and never would have found out what really had happened to it.

So my advice? DON´T leave any stuff to that outside chest - I have never before had any problems with it (well, at least as far as I know), yet this time around proved me I´m not taking any chances either, as something may and will happen.

Rayya (for dealing those s.o.a.b. of bandits) just got herself a promotion, change to a better room with the view, and I personally (!!) enchanted for her some bandit-kicking armor. Rayya my Angel ^_^

    • I actually have a load of gear in that chest, including multiple powerful staffs and enchanted item, and I frequently get attacked by bandits and I'm not a thane in Falkreath yet because I got bored helping people.

    • Wow, as much as that is a really cool realistic feature, that's dangerous. I personally never ever store anything in a chest that is not literally within the walls of my home.

    • This is quite an old thread but npc's can take weapons from chests, if they get into combat and notice the weapons are better than their own. Someone a while ago had their Steward take a weapon out from the armories display case too, i think thats pretty rare though. Someone else left a staff lying around the sanctuary and later found Nazir using it.

Oh me neither, especially after when that happened :D Okay I still leave some minor stuff in there, such as alchemy ingredients and things that doesn´t have that much value to my character, but all the valuable, in the safe in the storage room

Yeah.....found that out when the guards in riften thought it would be funny to steal my staff of fireballs when I escaped from my cell (did the pickpocket eploit) I promptly sent them to the Soul Cairn for it. You can take my things but NEVER use my own weapons against me, it will suck for you.
