    Two Handed Axe/Hammer/Sword

    One Handed Axe/Mace/Sword

    Magika

    Scolls

    Staffs

I am an archer. I am dead accurate with the bow and stealth around during quests.

    • It's dual swords for me. Occasionally bow. I like to fight swiftly yet deadly.

Only once in a while if I want to smash people I'm pissed off by I'll use greatsword or warhammer.

        Loading editor
    • Magic has always been my preferred choice. Although it can get a bit frustrating to use on the higher difficulties. When I run out of magicka, I usually switch to a greatsword.

        Loading editor
    • For melee dual swords/axes, most of the time I use a bow.

        Loading editor
    • Dual swords for me; I'm yet to conduct proper research (excluding magic here) on it but I think dual wielding one-handed weapons gives a greater amount of damage in less amount of time. With the right perks and enough Stamina for a Power Attack, I can get around 5 swings in 1-2 seconds. And when each swing comes from a Legendary Daedric Sword, it chops down enemies fast >:D

        Loading editor
    • I will not lie, huge part of why I started using dual swords was due to Thranduil, for those who have watched The Hobbit: Battle Of The Five Armies. However of course its effectiveness made me keep using it.

I also think that wielding a Daedric Sword on one hand and a Bound Sword(which is basically a Daedric Sword in ethereal form) on the other looks really cool and badass.

    • I actually go everywhere with the weapons I use. Over all my games, I've found no definate favorite. I prefer stealth, taking out large groups of enemies 1 by 1 with a bow, or taking a small group out with a dagger and the appropriate stealth perks. I've also found that a sword/axe/mace can work well with the right spell, but every way has it's pros and cons. A heavily armored barbarian with a 2 handed sword is very vulnerable to archers and frost magic. Light armor, you're more vulnerable to 2 handed attacks. Heavy armor and a shield and one handed weapon, frost magic, and so on so forth. Every individual combintion has a weakness, but mastering a few, like the bow, stealth, and 1 handed weapons and shields helps a lot.

    • Dual swords, if youv'e never used Elemental Fury along with the Dual-wielding perks, it allows unenchanted weapons to actually stand up to enchanted ones. and I used to be a big time mage.

        Loading editor
    • Sometimes I pkay using a sword, but I generally use magic only because at higher levels, dragonskin breaks the gane defensively.

        Loading editor
    • I usually mainly use a one-handed sword and shield for melee and bow for more ranged attacks/stealth. Sometimes I also dual wield destruction magic. I used to use warhammers, but then I tried out one-handed and saw how much faster it was and never looked back. I've never really used staffs, scrolls, daggers, axes or maces.

        Loading editor
    • I'm both a stealth oriented and battle-oriented player. I usually try to take out my enemies by using a bow, but if that fails, you really can't beat frying your foes while cutting them into pieces with a sword that sucks out health.

    • I am mainly an archer and I like having fun trying to hit targets from the farthest away from me but when the enemies get close or there are more than one, I like using fireballs to throw them all over the place and lightning storm to melt their knees off before they can stand back up... XD When they getclose and overwhelm me, I like using dual wielded swords but only as a last resort.

    • Depends on the character I think. I have a Nord that I mainly use greatswords with but I started a dark elf and found the same swords to be too clumsy to use. The bow is always a fave for long distance shos and swords for up close, with my Dark Elf I like Dawnbreaker and he Nightingale Blades. Sometimes destruction magic too.

Just yesterday playing on pc for the first time with a Nord I noticed an odd glyph in the upper left corner of the weapon screen when I had a greatsword chosen. Anyone else see anything like that? It was a first for me.

    • Poison of some kind from a potion maybe (it's shown by a green icon with a snake coiled around a arrow)?

Edit - Oh and my usual weapon of choice for my main character is the sword (both types).

        Loading editor
    • With the last sneak perk I use daggers because they are fast enough to hit and get a sneak attack

Yes, that was it.  Thanks! I worried when it disappeared.

    • Longsword all the way :D

        Loading editor
    • Either sword and shield, or bow. Magic (dual cast) for the mage character. Also, werewolf claws :3

        Loading editor
    • One of my favorite swords is Harkan Blade. I also like Dragonbane. For bow its Aurials Bow. Don't use shields.

        Loading editor
    • For me, my favorites to use are a sword paired with a shield/strong restoration spell. Also, for some odd reason I love the Orcish Warhammer. Never really use two handers at all, since they've always felt in-the-way and bulky, but that was one I always liked for some reason, along with the Nordic Warhammer.

Atleast they have some really interesting killcams. :D

    • I like using windshear and a restoration spell,or dual wield soul render and bloodscythe, other while I just use areuls bow or zephyr, btw winds gear has a broken enchantment and staggers the opponent with every hit even if their blocking.

        Loading editor
    • I meant WindShear dang auto correct

        Loading editor
    • Same here, I don't use the two though. I have assasin's blade but don't want to carry 6 ambiguous weight units of enchanted daedric dagger. Also the bound bow, command daedra, wrathmen, wall spells, unrelenting force, blood magic, VL claws, unarmed and most of all, grand healing

        Loading editor
    • Weapon(s) of Choice, you ask?

      Spells, mainly.

Also:  A Stalhrim Sword dual-enchanted with Frost Damage & Chaos Damage.  (Pretty much the ultimate custom-enchanted weapon in Skyrim)

    • Magicka, Lightning spells are my favorite.

        Loading editor
    • Depends on what I feel like doing, but in general I use Ignite, conjured creatures or a dagger.

Ignite can become pretty overpowered with the right build, atm it does 22 damage per second for me for 15 seconds per cast, doubled with using it in both hands (though it takes a fair amount of effort to make it this strong).

Magic isn't under powered, it's just less overpowered than physical.

        Loading editor
    • Depends on my build

Pure Warrior: Mace+Shield or greatsword. Swords are a bit too light and fast for me, warhammers are too heavy and slow, and the axes dont provide the best wep specific perk (minor bleed dmg) in my opinion (I will make an exception for Wuuthraad though)

Cleric/Battlemage: Mace+Lvl Restoration (See pure mage/warrior for reasoning)

Pure Mage: Destruction+Restoration+Conjuration. Pref destruction is fire unless figthing flame resistant enemies (e.g. Flame Atronachs) or other mages, in that case Lightning. Pref restoration is a Leveled healing spell (ex. my current mage has restoration 29 and I'm using fast healing. not a fan of wards though. Pref Conjuration, basically anything that stands a chance against what I'm fighting. All in all I usually single cast spells, much better effect/magicka ratio.

Sneak: Elven Bow+Dagger. I also carry a mace for when I cant hide in battle

        Loading editor
    • Spells pretty much exclusivly. Occassionally I'll go Gandalf style, and wield a Staff and Sword. (Nahkriin's Dragon Priest Staff and Chillrend) But primarily I try to stick with just spells, and I try to stick with lightning spells and the Stormcall Shout.

Even tho at higher levels spells don't do as much damage as a legendary dragonbone sword double enchanted, it will never have the same satisfaction I get when I literally turn my enemies into piles of ash.

        Loading editor
    • Nightengale blade and Spellbreaker. With Spellbreaker, the right perks, and the Otar mask (the best one for heavy armor users), I become damn nie impervious to magic. Plus w/ the nightenagle blade, I can regen some of my health, and do much more damage over time (though the thing eats up soul gems faster than Charlie Sheen goes through booze).

        Loading editor
    • I've never seen the use of magic resist when using one hand weapons, just get critical charge and forward power attack and it incapacitates them long enough to kill them

        Loading editor
    • I use dual daggers with the shadow warrior and assasins blade perk, with ancient shrouded gloves. All together I deal 60x dagger damage. This doesn't work on dragons or when I have quest related companions, so I use windshear and spellbreaker and dead thrall with Orchilior and Chief Yamaraz.

        Loading editor
    • Just got new Daedric sword w/ life drain. More damage than Nightengale blade, but no stamina absorption.

        Loading editor
    • I like playing as either a mage or a spellsword. In that case, my weapons of choice are scrolls, staves, magic, and one-handed weapons.

        Loading editor
    • I dabble in both spellswords and sometimes twohanded and I've been known to use archery a lot in certain situations, but i prefer a legendary Dragonbone Sword with chaos and health absorb enchantments with another legendary Dragonbone sword with chaos and stamina absorb enchantments. I also have a legendary Dragonbone shield that I enchanted specifically to deal with the fire and frost breath of dragons that I use with my main health absorb sword, but I can switch between them with ease.

        Loading editor
    • I like auriels bow for what it can do with blood arrow. For swords I like dawnbreaker and any sword that has great power when used by a vampire. For mace I like the mace you receive after the abandoned house quest. Staff the Magus staff.

        Loading editor
    • I use both a bow and duel swords. It depends on the situation or if I have a follower that completely blows my hiding spot.

    • Two-Handed!!!!!!!, Volendrung always be my favourite. True nord uses two handed

        Loading editor
    • bow + magic for me

        Loading editor
    • Bloodskal Blade for my 2 handed warrior. At least for earlier times. 30 damage is actually double to triple the damage you can get on enchantments early in the game. And the extra damage saved my life on an few occasions. Now? Soulblaze, Daedric longsowrd that deals insane fire damage and health absorb damage.

    • Depends on what i feel like using.  Currently i am using 2H to level it up. Before, i used Soul Trap with an enchanted sword.

    • No love for Sword and Board?

Well, I love the Block Perks, especially Power Bash, which for me is like having two weapons. 😈

I particularly love combining Spellbreaker with the Mace of Molag Bal (damages health and stamina AND fills a soul gem). Spellbreaker blocks those pesky Ice spells, which lets me charge those magi and to club them like a Baby Horker.

Oh, and with Kiadony's help, I'm starting to love my Werewolf claws too. 😉

    • Due to my perk mods and modded weapons, still like my 1 handed sword the most. It's a modded sword called "Lilith's Harbinger" which looks great and pretty much has dragonbone stats. Lost longswords (one hand version) is another great mod.

I play as a spellsword, and due to the perk overhauls I have, Magic is highly viable for Legendary. So yeah, sword and spell's my way to go. I do not even use a single non sword weapon for my playthroughs. Was never much of an archer or two hander.

Might use the ebony blade for luls because I have katana animations, but that's pretty much it.

        Loading editor
    • On my current character I use an Ebony Mace or bound sword

        Loading editor
    • Usually a mace (or sword) with healing on the other hand

        Loading editor
    • My preferred weapons are: Daedric bow/ Daedric one handed weapon be it a sword or a war axe.

I only use one sword/war axe at a time so I can wield restoration magic in one hand while dealing damage with the other.

I suck at stealth so I normally go full blown warrior with Daedric armour for the defense and Daedric sword/war axe for the offense.

I know dragon weapons are stronger but Daedric weapons are lighter and better looking and they match my Daedric armour perfectly.

        Loading editor
    • Early on I found tanking the easiest way to stay alive, just gotta pick your battles, use the terrain, and optimize for offense, not defense.  Stealth always sucks at first but it takes very little magic/perks/training to get BA. Now I like switching back and forth between tank and sneaky archer so terrain is less of a factor.  ATM 2 hand Deadric axe and dwarven crossbow.  Both smithed to Legendary, then dual enchants Chaos Dmg and Fiery ST.  Up to 5 magic effects/hit makes a fun little 4th of July during combat.  :)  Also helps to have two sets of rings and necklaces to maximize each style, and of course the right perks support each style.  Toss in Fortify potions and it's OP.

    • I really wish that Auriel's Bow was stronger, maybe on par with the Daedric bow, its hyped up as the strongest bow in the world but is not even close to the daedric bow in strength.

        Loading editor
    • Auriels Bow and fullblown Ebony Blade

      Best combo ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        Loading editor
    • Stalhrim bow with chaos damage. Frost enchantments are 25% stronger when placed on stalhrim items, that includes chaos damage. If your enchanting is all the way up and you have every perk you can make a stalhrim bow that's better than daedric bows. Plus they're nice and skinny, easy to see the screen whereas daedric bow takes up half the damn screen

        Loading editor
    • It all depends on the character. RP FTW.

I have a save for a Nord Barbarian that's only ever used a Greataxe and disregards any spell books he comes across, and a file for a Breton Mage who will only wield daggers & staves, or very, very, rarely Dawnbreaker or a silver sword.

        Loading editor
    • I use every type of weapon (including magic and staves), but my favorites are swords and magic (the two with the largest amount of diversity), greatswords, and daggers.

        Loading editor
    • I summon 2 dremora lords and just wait till battle ends...

        Loading editor
    • When fighting vampires, I dual-wield the Mace of Molag Bal, for the irony of using their creator's weapon to destroy them, and the Dawnbreaker because it makes them explode.

        Loading editor
    • An Ebony Bow I got at level 20-25 and a Glass Dagger of Burning I found in Nightingale Hall.

        Loading editor
    • Honestly, I normally will attempt to fight the enemy myself with destruction spells, if that fails, I will then use illusion spells (hush and invis) to easily do repeat sneak attacks. if I don't feel like doing that, or if it's not possible, my level 100 summoner skill that I got in 2 hours comes in real handy when a few summons can put down just about any enemy with ease, but what's the fun in that?

        Loading editor
    • One Handed + whatever spell I need (usually healing or candlelight), or when I'm feeling like a real manly Nord, a shield. It really depends on the character though, I'll almost always have a sword+magic combo on Bretons and oftentimes on Dunmer too, but my Nords rarely use any magic besides perhaps basic restoration, and that's when I'm only lightly RPing.

        Loading editor
    • Regardless of the race I play as (Generally a Khajiit, but there were a few Nords and Dunmer in there somewhere), I always end up slipping into a sneaky, Light Armor character with very high Illusion skills and One-handed/Marksman skills. I like to use the Nightingale Blade or the Ghostblade (Both of which all but require me to spend so much time boosting Smithing, Enchanting, and Alchemy when I could be doing actually useful stuff just to make the damn things useful, simply because I like how they look). For ranged abilities, I generally find myself sticking to Crossbows as opposed to any other Bow, because I spend so much time making Bolts instead of Arrows (7000+ Bolts when I last checked), and I just feel more confident with a Crossbow compared to anything else.

        Loading editor
    • I hear ya on the crossbow.  Flat trajectory is easier to manage, heavy impact staggers opponents.  Best part is the kill cam in melee range where ya use it as a bludgeon!  Can't imagine crafting bolts tho, when you can buy the sweet bolts that go boom at Fort Dawguard.

        Loading editor
    • I prefer one-handed swords over most weopons as they still allow you to use magic. My favorite sword is a deadric sword or Harkon sword.

        Loading editor
    • my Orchish warhammer has 43 damage and its unenchanted, why are here no weapons with more than 40 damage unenchanted

        Loading editor
    • sword with an occasional shield( auriels shield or spell breaker) and bow with random dual cast magic in between

when I use a sword i will do a 50/50 of just a sword and a sword and shield

        Loading editor
    • Mace & Shield. I usually play as an Orc, so that's my preferred weapon combo.
