  • OK, so I asked my dad to buy Hearthfire for me on Xbox 360, and of course, he did. The FIRST time we tried to download it, it had a problem for some reason. But, when we retried, it downloaded without a problem. There was a "play now" option above the re download option that was unselectable, but I ignored it and loaded one of my games. I saw no changes and it had no Heartfire features, so I created a new game. I saw no changes in this one either. Does anybody know how to fix this? If so, please tell me! I also have a question. If you install Hearthfire, are you able to get it on a save file you already have or do you have to create a new game?

    • Also, is anybody else having this problem or is it only me? Id like to add I had recently gotten XBOX updates in order for Xbox live to work, would this affect Hearthfire?

    • Hearthfire should work with a past save. You can check if the game recognizes Hearthfire with the add ons section in the main menu (i think thats whats is called) and by going to a merchant to see if they now sell Hearthfire items like straw, goat horns, glass childrens clothes etc. If so then just go and try purchasing a home, if not the only thing to do is probably reinstall.

I use the PS3 and PC though not 360 so i have no idea about the market place and live.

    • Umm, I may be wrong here, but I had the same issue on ps3 a loooong ago. And that happened after I had uninstalled skyrim and all it´s features (including the dlcs). After re-installing Skyrim and the dlcs, the dlcs didn´t work. Quite fast I figured out though, that the dlcs won´t work, of course, without the updates for the main game (or at least that was the issue in my case). I hope that that would be your problem as well, meaning it wouldn´t be something much more complicated :D

And if you already have the updates and it´s not working, sorry, I hope you´ll find the solution :(

    • Dang it, you already mentioned the updates, sorry (and I should learn to read) :(

    • Good to mention it though if they have to re-install (and they said 360 not Skyrim updates), if you ever remove the game data start the game up so the patch is downloaded (but don't play the game) then quit and install any DLC. Also epending on how you download the DLC it may auto install or leave installer in your consoles menu (at least on the PS3).

    • I have the hearthfire dlc installed on my save folder (xbox 360), but when I look it up in the game on the add-on section, I have the other dlc's, but not Hearthfire. I don't know what else to do. The console is already updated to this date.

    • I had a similar issue, I downloaded and installed all three DLCs, but could get none of them to be recognised by the game.  The issue ended up being with the configuration of the XBox itself.  I can't remember the step-by-step method of what I did, but I had to access a menu in settings, and reset an option on the XBox.  The issue was caused, in my case, by the fact that my system was used, and, very probably, a display console at a Game Stop (or Walmart or somewhere else) somewhere.

    • I have that problem with my ps3..... I downloaded it.... and installed, but it wont be recognized. WHY WONT IT WORK!? What setting do I change?

    • You should probably just redownload it, though make sure your game settings "recognize downloadable content."
