    • Dunmer if you're going to go for a sneaky fire mage, Breton for a, possibly slightly sneaky, conjurer and mage

    • Dunmer a more interesting character Breton for the statistical advantage of magic resitance

    • A Dunmeri Dragonborn is more suited towards those who want to fill a more sneaky role while still having access to magic. A Dunmer's natural fire resistance can also be invaluable against Dragons and other mages, who very often use fire spells. Ancestor's wrath can be very helpful in early levels, especially against those weak to fire, but it becomes virtually worthless in later levels or higher difficulties due to its low damage per second. An excellent advantage wielding by Dunmer, however, is their incredible use as Vampires more than practically any other race.

A Breton is built more for a tank and excellent starting mage than anything else. They have a very unique resistance to shock, the only race to posess that ability, as well as a 25% resistance to fire and frost. Not only that, their Dragonskin power makes them virtually invulnerable to both Dragon and magic attacks, while at the same time regenerating their Magicka due to this power absorbing spells, rather than just resisting them. This means a Breton can be a fantastic tank while still pummeling down their enemies with strong Destruction spells, and constantly heal themselves with Resotration as well as protecting themselves with Alteration. Even if you do not have access to the Dragonskin ability, having already used it up, investing enough in the Alteration skill tree allows you to obtain both a 30% resistance to magic and 30% spell absorption, meaning that a Breton will resist 55% of all magic, and absorb 30% of all spells, 80% if combined with Dragonskin, and 130% if one is using the Atronach stone.
