  • I looked on some wiki pages , and i couldn't seem to find any details about this : what criteria does the Night Mother take into account when chosing her Listener ? She obviously doesn't take into account how skillful in the art of assassination the person is , as , in Skyrim , you only kill a small amount of people for the Brotherhood after being chosen, and you can be caught and thrown in jail afterwards , and the quest is still marked as succesful , while someone like Nazir , Veezara or Cicero seem to have killed many more and are way more skilled . Speaking of Cicero , the Nigh Mother doesn't really seem to care about people who worship or look after her corpse , as Cicero tends to her and also transported her to Skyrim all the way form Cyrodiil . The only real explanation that i keep turning to is that the Listener is chosen at their birth , and thus the whole thing is random . Which would be kind of ironic , seeing how the Listener is also ... you know ...

    • I think it all has to do with you being the Dragon born...Astrid did mention all 3 of us...Cicero, Nightmother, and the Dragon born

It fits the story. The PC character is dragonborn if he/ she follows the main quest far enough. He/ she will become arch-mage of the college of winterhold, leader of the thieves guild, harbinger of the companions, and thane of all holds if all of those quests and questlines are followed. Since the Listener is basically the leader of the DB and has been the leader for the past few millenia, Bethesda softworks had no trouble with making the PC character Listener, if you follow the questline of the Dark Brotherhood far enough.

Also, I can say that I have slaughtered about 2500 bandits, 5000 draugr, 1000 dragons, 100 daedra, 1500 vampires, 10 werewolves, (Including that farmer that's added in dawnguard and sinding) 3000 mammoths, 2000 giants, 1000 skeletons, and 10,000 animals (Including wolves, sabercats, bears, etc. Hostile and friendly.) Not counting the people who try to assist me in battle. So, that would make about 28,610 creatures killed by me. This was before I joined the Dark Brotherhood.

Also, I've been playing on the same character since I bought Skyrim near it's release, so i've had time to complete that utterly magnificent feat of torturing and killing the people of Skyrim.

    • The Night Mother is not the one who chooses a Listener, I'm afraid. I am pretty sure that Sithis is the one who takes care of that job.

This cannot be possible because the dragonborn can choose to destroy the dark brotherhood.
