When I was lvl 15 I glitched the wall of the wispering door to get the ebony blade but now am doing the quest and can't complete it, I tried to drop it on a weapon rack at my house but I can't complete it no matter what ps: am on xbox 360
The blade is probably marked as a quest item and can't be dropped, as the blades bugs list says using the glitch to get it early will make the quest uncompletable. Avoid quest items if you don't have the quest as it will often break the quest.
As the bugs list says "doing so may render the quest uncompletable" it's not really a fix but just a way to get the basic blade, sometimes a weapon rack will take a quest weapon you could try that to get the blade out of your inventory but sometimes it won't work.
At Level 20, I've been using the blade since Level 1 and have enjoyed using it. Sad to say that using a weapon rack DOES not affect the weapon ability to drop at all. And no, if you kill someone whose friendly towards you BEFORE the quest, Mephala doesn't know you've killed anyone so I'd refrain from trying to grab it until Level 20. .-. Even sadder to hear that I now have to reset my 25 hour game and go all the way to the beginning and try without the Ebony Blade :(
There is a way to fix this, if you go to the Breezehome in Whiterun when u walk in on the Right there is a weapon rack just equip the blade and place it on the weapon rack, and then retrieve it again this will allow you to complete the Quest! ;)
I have a POSSIBLE solution...why not put the ebony blade on a plaque, and when it drops have your follower pick it up, then get into a fight, if they equip it, go to dragons reach and kill them, when the blade drops from their hands, MAYBE then you'll be able to???
The quest can not be completed after using the glitch to get the blade early. Unfortunately this was my last daedric artifact for the 'Oblivion Walking' trophy and now i have to start from the beginning on a different save because I stupidly decided to get the blade before doing the quest.

Me too, I wonder if the thing with the weapon rack works. I freaked out when I got the mission.
No, weapon racks don't work. I've tested with the Dawnstar Dark Brotherhood Hideout and getting the Ebony Blade attached to it then getting the blade doesn't fix it, there is no solution to this and if you have picked up the weapon using the glitch, you've just bugged the Quest to be uncompletable.
The rack does function, you just have to put it on the rack leave it there, go get the quest do it and exactly where you put it in the rack, when you go there the weapon will be on the floor and you will unlock the power of the enchantment. I did it myself and it works.
It is possible to obtain the blade WITHOUT meeting any requirements to start it (before level 20). Using a wooden bowl and Whirlwind Sprint glitch, the room can be entered to get the blade. However, once inside, there is a dresser hidden behind the door that prevents exit through it. If the Dragonborn goes on the left side of the dresser and places the wooden bowl so that it is resting at an angle on the door hinge, they can glitch back out, though it may take more than one try. Doing so may render the quest uncompletable, however. Alternatively, the console command, TCL, can be used to pass through the door.
An alternative to the above is to get a guard's attention by committing a crime. While guards are pursuing, the Dragonborn should quickly glitch through the door and get the blade, then step back near the Whispering Door so the guard activates the dialogue to arrest the Dragonborn, and agree to go to jail.
