  • I recently grabbed the ebony blade on my new character and immediately killed Nazeem. Guards didn't mind, I used the ol' "I'm the thane!" on them. A day later the courier runs to me in Winterhold and hands me a letter from Skulvar Sable-Hilt, the stablemaster in Whiterun. The letter mentions my assault on Nazeem and implies Skulvar would like to make use of my strength. When I came to talk to him there were no special dialogue options, and I can't find anything about the letter on the wiki. Anyone know about this?

    • Most npc's have a chance for some kind of world interaction to trigger, some of them are a bit glitchy though. For this one try dropping the letter picking it up and reading it, the quest might get stuck in the journal though and might be to beat up a child (it's a messed up quest).

    • One time I had that same dailogue from killing the warmaidens blacksmith. I don't remember if I talked to him afterwards or not. But it would be interesting if skyrim had a bunch of secret interactions people still didn't know about.

    • Click on the blue world interactions text in my comment, theres a page for things like this.

Dropping the note did it. I got the quest but I also got a text box reading "WIAssault 02: When books are implemented, quest objectives should come after reading the letter." I wonder what that means, something left over from development?

    • It's a debug message, it seems like they forgot to completely finish and tidy up the the quest (so yes probably).

    • I got the letter after killing a stormcloak prisioner on the road. I talked to Skulvar, but no interaction related to the letter appeared, so I dropped it, picked it back (read) and this message came up ""WIAssault 02: When books are implemented, quest objectives should come after reading the letter.", i said "ok" and tried another conversation with Skulvar. Finally he said something about the letter and aparently he will pay you to throw a few punches on his son, Jervar.

What a caring and lovely father.

    • I went on a killing spree through Whiterun. Immediately upon killing Jervar, a courier approached me with a Letter from Skulvar. It basically said "I know you killed my son. Don't worry, I won't tell. He won't be missed." It was (of course) signed Skulvar Sable-Hilt.

The funny thing is, he was dead when the courier appeared. XD

    • It's also possible to receive a letter from Jervar asking you to beat up Skulvar and the same bug may happen (with the same resolution)

    • This just happened to me. Funny thing is After I hit his sone once and then backed off it was fine. BUT I got paid 50 gold and had a bounty of 40 lol. It cost more to use the thieves guild option lol.
