Hello, The Elder Scrolls wiki community. I have been voted in charge of rewriting several policies during the last moot. I have decided to start with the chat and discussions, as they are the places that need it the most. You can expect several other site policies, along with a new set of rules for the forums, to be coming in the near future.

I have taken the privilege of uploading the changes to the pages (if supported) to pastebin. You can see that for the Grounds for Blocking, I have not just included new rules, but also merged some rules that were already too similar (example: Personal Attacks and Bullying).

    Grounds for Blocking/Punishment Changes http://pastebin.com/Aub1kE7k

    Discussions/Wiki Application Full Policy http://pastebin.com/jn57QVxA

Please vote in either approval or opposition of these new policies, and feel free to voice what changes you wish to see, or your concerns, below.

I read a bit through both of the links and I think everything is pretty well done and don't have any issues with it.

    • ShawnCognitionCP said in the Grounds for Blocking Pastebin page:
"Our old three-strike rule has proven to be a mess, as unjustified blocking and over-zealous punishment has shown."

I feel like that line could be taken out, as it seems more of a reflection then something that should be posted on an official set of rules. Other than that, the new rules for Blocking/Punishment look good.

Shawn posted in the discussions Pastebin:
*There is an exception to this rule. As neither bold nor italics are an option on the application as of now, overuse of capitals will be allowed to signify character yelling during roleplay.

Really minor note here: I feel like you should use ** and not * for that piece, as it is directly a note of the part about it. Other than that, everything looks good.

      Edit: Forgots a little something

This should be taken more seriously than "reading a bit" through the links.

The three strikes rule was posted in the original copy of the rules. I simply removed it and replaced it with that line, citing that it is no longer to be followed, and spoke of the way we should treat punishment.

My bad, I didn't mean to word that in such a way xD but yea I get that this stuff's serious. I read through both of them a few times or else I wouldn't have voted.

It all looks good to me... Maybe it just needs a few fixes.
#Violation of personal privacy. This includes revealing personal information about users (e.g. real name, location, age, gender, etc.) and violating confidentiality on particular issues (such as issues asked to be kept confidential by other users or administrators). We do not tolerate invasion of privacy regardless of meaning or context. It is unacceptable in every case, and will be punished as such.

^ Maybe it should be mentioned that it's only not allowed without permission? I know several people on chat call each other by their real names.

#Excessive roleplay in main chat is prohibited, and will be treated as both spam and disruption of chat. Roleplay is defined as pretending to be a character from some form of media, a made of identity, or typing out all of your actions. Roleplay is "excessive" at the judgement of a moderator, or the majority of chat.

      I think it's a typo, shouldn't it be "a made up identity"?

If it's done with consent, it's not a reveal of personal information. The information is already out there.

Read them through, though have a few things:

"#Do not abuse the use of "!mods". It is there to alert the moderators when a rule is being broken, if they are not paying attention to the chat. Wasting their time is not an acceptable use of the feature"

I would suggest adding excessive pings for anyone, just to clarify.

"*There is an exception to this rule. As neither bold nor italics are an option on the application as of now, overuse of capitals will be allowed to signify character yelling during roleplay"

I would suggest making it a little clearer to say caps can also be used to represent italics and/or bold

Also, I suggest you correct that in the "So, You've Been Blocked. Now What?" section so that it says multiple rule breaks, since they are blocked it it happens several times, not just once (unless the offense happens multiple times.

I have read through them all and as far as the actual rules go, everything looks ship-shape. Excellent work. But as Otto, Renz, Bron, and Crusader have pointed out, there are some things that could be reworded. That is extremely minor though. It's just polishing.

Shawn knows this needs formalising, so I have nothing to say other than support.

Might also want to outlaw kik groups. Their popping up all over, and in addition to being like advertising, it is off topic and completely pointless.

I'm undecided about this. I do agree that they're annoying, however the people on Discussions have no way to contact each other directly so they have to do that.

Until the implementation of some sort of direct messaging feature, I am in complete opposition to this. They should be allowed to contact each other, and if we can not provide that service, let them find their own methods.
