Killing Thonar and Madinach is satisfying, but... not satisfying enough.
And though I know it's futile, I always end up putting up a fight. The guards are no threat to my character, she just incinerates all of them with ease, and ends up in a massive battle against the entire city. XD
Incidentally... What happens if the Legate is set as non essential and killed? I hate ending up in battles with immortal opponents... I've no intention of persuing the civil war questline, or even the main quest. My character is level 29 and has not step foot in Dragonsreach or even once approached a word wall. Thanks to Live another life, she's never even stepped foot in Helgen or seen a dragon- she started out as a warlock's thrall.
The first time I found out about Essential Characters was when I was refusing arrest during the Cidhna Mine quest. I was in Markarth and killing anyone who tried to arrest me, three people there just won't die. I leveled up maybe 5 levels just having fun with them Lol.
What are you supposed to do in the game when you don't touch word walls and do main quests?
There are plenty of other quests I've been having fun with, and I've got a lot of quest mods on this one. :) My current character has no moral compass, and very short temper. She's a necromancer, with mods that make being a necromancer awesome.
I am not sure who you are quoting but I will just respond to that anyway. XD
I never used mods that changed/added to the story/lore etc. Most of my mods are just for immersion. I had a map marker mod that adds a marker for all possible locations to find in the game, even the very minor landmarks. I enjoyed visiting all of those, especially doing the mountain climbing challenge on Solstheim.
I don't post here very often, things got a little wonky I guess. That was meant to just be a reply, but it came out as a quote for some reason. But yeah, as quests go, Undeath Remastered, which lets you become a (lore friendly) lich, plus the Apocalypse spells and the Aurora Perk Tree. Hell of a ride ^_^
