King Torug gro-Igron was an Orsimer chieftain who is credited with founding the city of Orsinium in the Wrothgarian Mountains of High Rock,[1] after Warlord Thulgeg led the orcs into the province.[2] Torug gro-Ignron may have been responsible for some of the raids that happened along the Bjoulsae River at this time.[1]

"I am Kurog, king of the Orsimer. We will rebuild Orsinium, make it stronger. Whoever dares oppose the uniting clans will feel my wrath. Welcome to my war."
―Kurog gro-Orsinium[1]

King Kurog gro-Orsinium, also known as Kurog gro-Bagrakh,[2] is the Orcish King of Orsinium in The Elder Scrolls Online.[3] Southern Wrothgar is under the control of King Kurog,[3] who emphasizes that the Orcs of Orsinium worship Trinimac instead of Malacath, out of the belief that the ways of Malacath are outdated, and that reinstating Trinimac as the Orcish deity is the path to unity and progression.[4][5] Kurog is a member of the Daggerfall Covenant and represents the Orcs. However, his duties to uniting the Orcish clans and rebuilding Orsinium keep him occupied from the politics of the Three Banners War.[4]

HistoryEdit

As a child, Kurog grew up in an Orcish clan in Wrothgar, and was unsatisfied with his life. He had ambitions to explore the world and prove himself in battle. He rallied his companions and founded the Gaspard's Stalkers mercenary company. After winning skirmishes in Hammerfell and Cyrodiil, the company made its way to Elsweyr. Kurog went a tavern in the city of Orcrest and met with a Breton woman named Zephrine Frey. He had spoken to her about his past, and said that he would return to his clan and replace his chief by killing him, then taking command of his clan.[6]

King of Orsinium
Kurog gro-Bagrakh 2E 582 - 2E ??? Gortwog gro-Nagorm

Gortwog is the king of Orsinium and leader of the Orsimer. Since his ascension to the throne, he has worked hard to make his people be accepted as citizens of the Empire. He is also strongly against Necromancy.[3]

BiographyEdit

In 3E 399, he managed to win the Orsinium Area after a duel with Lord Bowyn.[4] After he gained the area,[5] slowly but surely he learned how to play the game of politics cleverly. He managed to retrieve a copy of the Real Barenziah, a book that was critical of the royal family of Wayrest and the Septim bloodline.

During the War for Betony, through his spies, he found out that Wayrest was sending assassins to assassinate King Lysandus of Daggerfall. He thought that by preventing this he could gain the friendship of the most powerful kingdom in the Iliac Bay region and also the Direnni Clan on the Isle of Balfiera. Unfortunately, his warriors could not stop the assassins and King Lysandus was slain.

He also gained the letter that Uriel Septim VII sent to the Queen of Daggerfall. The letter was critical, as it stated the resurfacing of the Numidium, a Dwemeri construct. The letter was finally retrieved from Gortwog by an agent of Uriel Septim VII in the depths of the dungeon of Orsinium, but the contents of the letter had already been spreading among the rulers of the Iliac Bay region and the underground factions as well. It was obvious that Gortwog had traded this information.[6]

NumidiumEdit

Gortwog is one of the wielders of the Numidium. He is one of the seven retrievers of the Totem of Tiber Septim, a tool for controlling the Dwemeri construct. Originally there was only one Totem, but a strange time warping effect known as the Warp in the West made all seven parties of the Iliac Bay receive the Totem.

Through the use of the Totem, Gortwog eventually got the Empire to accept the Orcs as equally as other races. Because of Gortwog, Orcs now enjoy all the privileges of normal Imperial citizens, and some have been accepted as guards in the City Watches and soldiers in the Imperial Legion.[7]
