Hello everyone, tis I Mad-okay, I've written a lot of blogs these recent weeks, and most of the popular blog post spots belong to me most of the time. If you don't know who I am by now, you need to. If you havn't seen my other Theory blog, you should check it out, not hard to find. Speaking of knowing, I just had a very interesting conversation involving Jyygalag and the extent of his power. In these next two theories, I will explain what I think is a very valid and epiphany-causing. Without guilding the lily, and no more ado, (That's a Knight's Tale reference), let's dive right in.
The Jyggalag Power Theory[]
Alright, so we first start off with the discussion on who is the most powerful of the Daedric Princes. Well, not exactly. I was actually stating that the Daedra might have been weaker than we supposed, due to a speach option with Clavicus Vile that states that since he is at half power, the dragonborn and he are equals. Then, the others explained that Facots of the game engine can change the way the story works. I also noted that the Daedra had to be weak, since a mere mortal defeated Jyggalag. Well then, the discussion turned towards who was the most clever. I explained before in my previous Theory Blog with the Deadric Home Theory that it does not come down to brawn, but brains. Who can outwit who? That's when the discussion over who was the smartest really kicked in. Some said Sheogorath, some said Boethia, some said Herma Mora, but I said Jyggalag, at one point anyway. Anyone who has played the Shivering Isles knows that Jyggalag is a big deal in the Daedric World. At one point, he became so powerful, the others started to fear him, and cursed him into that ever nutty madman, Sheogorath, my personal favorite, besides Ole Uncle Sanguine.
But my decision of Jyggalag was open to much disagreement. People have said that Jyggalag has lost his power when he turned into Sheogorath, and he won't get it back for a long time. The other Daedric Princes feared he woul one day fight, as he had the most powerful army of all the Daedric Princes. This is where I started to realize something. I started to associate Mora with Jyggalag. Mora is the Daedric Prince of Fate, but as said by Dyus in the quest "Symbols of Office" for the Shivering Isles, these are his exact words.
"Your predecessor cursed me with immortality and placed me in this remote location in order to "protect His Realm from my knowledge." In truth, I was Jyggalag's trusted chamberlain and the keeper of the great library. He could not bring himself to destroy the knowledge that I represent, which is to say, precise predictions of all that is, has been, and will be." He explains that Knifepoint Hollow was once the great library of Jyggalag: "The great library was the height of logic and deduction. Contained within its walls were the formulaic predictions of every action ever taken by any creature, mortal or Daedric. Every birth. Every death. The rise of Tiber Septim. The Numidium. Everything. All predicted with the formulae found within Jyggalag's library. When Sheogorath discovered the library, He had it burned, insisting that it was an abomination and that personal choice defied logical prediction. I am all that remains of the knowledge contained within the great library of Jyggalag." Go into Sheogoraths throne room and on the right on a pedastal, you can see a prophetic deduction in the form of a book.
Jyggalag recorded everything there was to know about the world. Someone then asked that it would be possible that Mora would retain Jyggalag's form of deduction. Not only do I think it possible, but likely. In fact, this is the reason he was probably cursed in the first place! Anyone, even Sheogorath, would be on their knees, trying to find a way to beat him. Jeez, imagine playing chess with this guy. Two moves, your out. This is why I think Herma Mora is a bit of a tool, cool as he is. While he isn't keen on keeping absolute order, he is that mastermind who uses others against themselves, taking knowledge gained from Jyygalag in some unknown form, and useing it to bend others to his will. It has been shown that Mora is not endowed with all knowledge on his own. He has to learn it, as when he took some from the skaal in the Dragonborn DLC. So therefore, he had to get all of his knowledge from somwhere. One doesn't have to look to far to point fingers at Jyygalag. Herma Mora is a copy cat, through and through. As I said before, he studies his enemies, studies his friends, if any, and tries to get every detail he can. You could say he is trying to pick up where Jyggalag left off, scheming to become the most powerful of all Daedric Princes. We could be seeing him as a main antagonist real soon. With Jyggalag at little strength, Mora could very well try to usurp Jyggalag from his throne, and secure his sphere once and for all, and gain the one thing he has probably been after since he began to learn. Knowledge of Fate itself. Mora is the Prince of fate, that does not mean he knows it. To know Fate would be to know everything, and he could not resist such a tempting power. So the theory is officially: The Daedric Prines grew fearful of Jyggalag's knowledge of everything and decided to curse him. Mora, being who he is, would stop at nothing at gaining all knowledge of Mundus and beyond. Mora is the Daedric Prince of knowledge, but he does not know everything. Take note of the knowledge he has tried to get knowledge from the Skaal for hundreds of years. As knowledgable as Mora is, Jyygalag beats him to the punch. I am confident in saying that this is why Jyggalag was so feared by his peers. He new everything about them, everything that they can do, and everything that they can't. At least, at one time. Sadly, or probably thankfully, the other Daedric Princes cursed him to his Sheogorathing form, something he probably expected but was not powerful ENOUGH to stop. He was just one agains, like sixteen, though I am sure he put up one heck of a fight. So that is it for this theory, on to the next.
The Elder Scrolls and Jyggalag[]
I am sure this one might have crossed your minds before, but I would like to mak it official. Let's start with Jyggalag himself. All knowing, all powerful, until the day he was cursed. He is unique among his bretheren. Why? Because there is a certain fact stated by Sheogorath himself. Jyygalag is more along the lines of Aedra, created by Anu's and Padomay's blood, with the Daedra with only Padomay's blood. Thus, he is special. While the Daedra only know dark things, with the exception of a rare few, with Anu's blood, Jyggalag is a Daedra of Stasis, not Change, like the rest of his bretheren. So therefore, he can be considered Aedra as well. Given his Aedric origin, an arument could be made that this gives him certain special attributes and advantages. However, something that is good in moderation, such as order, given by his Aedric side, is twisted into dicatation and tyranny with his Padomay side. Now that's all well and good. But then comes these mysterious things that are not really that significant to the overall progression of the series: The Elder Scrolls. I'll rant about that in one of my rant blogs later. But these things are said to contain prophecies, something Jyggalag is good with. In fact, he knows everything...Wait a sec. The Elder Scrolls are prophecies. Everything that is written in them becomes locked, tied to Fate itself. Jyggalag wrote about everything there is to know about the universe.
OMG.
Could Jyggalag have written the Elder Scrolls? From the mainstream player view, the Elder Scrolls are simply there, just magical scrolls and such. But they have to had come in from somwhere! And my money's on Jyggalag. Some people have put forth Herma Mora's name, but as I said before, total copy cat. It all makes sense! Jyggalag has deduced everything that has been and ever will be, and with this, he copied all down into some scrolls. That much knowledge for one person is enough to make them blind. Knowledge of everything in the universe would be enough to melt your brain before you got to .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 percent!
Another reason it could make people go blind is that Jyggalag would not want people to know things. Knowledge is power everyone, and the more you know, the more powerful you shall become, but with the increased chance of loss of innocence. Jyggalag understood this, and took advantage of all this knowledge. Given his Aedra side, who can choose to do either good or evil due to the mixture of their primordial blood, and Jyggalag could have chosen to send these scrolls as a way of combating evil. Perhaps Jyggalag is more caring than he seems. He did not believe in the concept of individuality, and his means of sending the Elder Scrolls are for the whole world, not just one person.
