Game mechanicsEdit

Awesome job with the categorizing; we certainly need some organization around there. I noticed that you categorized some articles as "Category:Game Concepts". I wasn't exactly sure what the difference was between that and some of the articles in "Category:Game Info" (except the actual TES games). I was thinking that some of those articles would fit better under Category:Game Mechanics, such as Health, Fatigue, Skill, Attribute, Encumbrance, Level, Persuasion, etc. Journal, Hotkey, and some others might fit there too. Thank you. "Category:Game Concepts" is meant to encompass all in-game mechanics and ideas and "Category: Game Info" any else about the game. I had intended for Concepts to include what you describe (except possibly Hotkey which could be Info because it is arguably past the fourth wall) but if you feel a separation is needed I can support that but, what would Concepts be then? --Avfanatic 23:15, 6 February 2007 (CST)
I mentioned "game mechanics" only because that's what that section on the Main Page is called, with some of those articles. "Mechanics" sounds more like the inner workings/values/moving parts of the game (e.g. Level). However, "Concepts" would work just as well, as the term sounds broader and can certainly encompass more than just how the game works. Either term works with me, though I think we should change the term on the main page to fit the decision.
Mechanics or Concepts, either is fine with me.
EDIT: Game Mechanics could be the idea of Concepts and Info combined, much like the main page combines game ideas with technical info. --Avfanatic
On a different topic, I was looking through the category and I think major skill and minor skill should be moved and redirect to skill, as there really isn't much else to add to those. What do you think? --theSpectator talk 01:01, 8 February 2007 (CST)

Hey Avfanatic, thanks for doing the rivers. I've been trying to put the rivers in all the region articles, and it's really great to have less red links. I'd love to be taking pictures, but I'm on a 360 and so cannot contribute those. But it's good to have the articles begun!

Are you having problem playing your game on Xbox 360? Edit

I'm having a lot of problems with my game due to glitches,Freezing and Bugs. I'm on my third time through the game and some of the main quest gave me the hardest time like the Great Gate quest that I was so lost and slow.--ShakenMike 14:41, 27 February 2007 (CST)

I have minor problems. It gives me a "disc unreadable" message when the XBOX gets too hot. I put a fan blowing across the back to disperese the heat generated as quickly as possible. That solved almost all of my problems. --Avfanatic 21:50, 28 February 2007 (CST)

Categories Edit

Great job with the organizing and categories avfanatic. Just a little note, categories are generally pluralized (e.g. "Category:Helm" --> "Category:Helms"), since they usually list multiple of those kinds of articles. Keep up the good work! --theSpectator talk 04:17, 18 March 2007 (CDT)

I try to keep it consistent but, I'm used to singular categories. A category implies many members, whereas each page is generally a singular member of that group (Martin Septim is an NPC not an NPCs, and an NPC category implies multiple entries as much as an NPCs category). Semantics I know but, at least you'll know why I continue to make some of the same mistakes.

Before this comes up, is there supposed to be a standard for capitalization in category names? I saw you wanted to move Category:Fort ruins to Category:Fort Ruins, so I assumed there wasn't - should there be? You know, that's a good point because generally the capitalization policy is that if it's capitalized in the game, then we capitalize it here (at least for article names). However we don't have to capitalize every time the word "sword" is used and such. For some time "Ayleid Ruin" (or back when it was "Elven Ruin") wasn't capitalized, but eventually was changed. So keeping in line with that, as well as with Oblivion Gate and Daedric Shrine, I think we should also capitalize Fort Ruin (and adjust the category subsequently). Categories like Category:Enchanted Armor don't need to be capitalized since it's not really an in-game capitalization. I'm sure there are exceptions here and there, however, or articles that don't really follow the policy. I'm not sure how strict it should be. --theSpectator talk 17:10, 18 March 2007 (CDT)
Throwing my two cents in here, I've always expected links and such to be capitalized, since they are titles of pages. Same goes for headings, and I suppose that would also include categories. I don't think it really matters that much, but I do find it confusing and occasionally frustrating to have to search for the right link when it is / isn't capitalized when I expect it to be. \*\ Hellhound43 14:25, 19 March 2007 (CDT)

Ingredient infobox Edit

I saw that you mentioned that it would be easier to check the redirect page. For what purpose would we need to check the redirect page? --theSpectator talk 23:42, 24 March 2007 (CDT)

The ingredient redirect page has the categories for the ingredient, so that it lists in those categories correctly - the redirect isn't an empty page in this case. The link is small and most people won't notice it, and it saved me the hassle of putting the ingredient name in the article (as I did with Aloe Vera) to allow easy changes/corrections. Shievering Isles ready, RIGHT NOW, for 360 Edit

Maybe because so many people complained maybe it was a mistake, either way Shivering Isles can now be downladed for Xbox 360. Start the game, go to options, check for updates, and download. Template Plant and IngredientEdit

Heya Avfanatic, I think Infobox Ingredient should be moved to Template:Infobox Plant (or simply Template:Plant; just overwrite the old one that's there) since the former template specifically deals with plants and their ingredients. That way, Template:Infobox Ingredient can truly be an infobox for just ingredients that have no source (e.g. apple, beef). I did notice that you created Template:Source/Ingredient, which is good, as you stated, ingredients that come from non-plant sources. I know it's a lot of work to go to each plant page and rename the template, but I'd be willing to help. --theSpectator talk 00:44, 26 April 2007 (CDT)

Alright cool. First thing is that, I'll be able to change 'em all after this Tuesday since I have a rotation at the psych hospital tomorrow and then an exam on Tuesday.
Second thing, since we'll be editing those articles anyway, for the "Effects" section, do you think it'd be better to change how the word "Category" shows up? It already is small, which is good, but to better distinguish it from the rest of the effects, we could:
a) Have it in lower case: Category:Restore Fatigue|category
b) Shorten it to: Category:Restore Fatigue|Cat/ :Category:Restore Fatigue|cat
c) Have "Category"/"category" in parantheses: (:Category:Restore Fatigue|category) or (:Category:Restore Fatigue|Category)
