Template help[edit source]

Hey Balagog, I was wondering if you could help me with the creation of a certain type of template. I tried creating one based off of the {{rednote}} template, but instead of having the text color be red, I was wondering how I can create a template that will have the link color changed instead?

So instead of rednote, I wanted to create something like this: {{purplelink|The page's link is purple}}.

Let me know if that is doable and if you can help with the creation of it. Thanks. :) —TombRaiser SPEAK! 22:39, February 21, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for, the purple is okay for now, I'll experiment with different shades and see what works, and yeah, I'd like it to be bold like rednote. It's something I had in mind to use on another wiki that uses colors to distinguish the rarity and uniqueness of armor and weapons. Thanks again. :) —TombRaiser SPEAK! 23:42, February 21, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Edits[edit source]

If this is mostly about badge hunting, could it be possible that you (or a SysOp) disable my badges and ranking? And is WikiGnoming/WikiFairing on an article really forbidden now? EDIT: I'm also trying to make the articles like this more similar to this, are you really sure this is considered as an illegitimate edit? And I apologize if I question your authority. >< Chuunibyou (talk) 07:36, February 22, 2014 (UTC)

Consensus track votes tally[edit source]

Done! If you need anymore changes in the next few hours, you might be waiting a while (or you can ask to another admin). Time for sleep. :) —TombRaiser SPEAK! 07:07, February 24, 2014 (UTC)

Promotion[edit source]

I know how to do it - There was ONE time I couldnt find it due to lack of sleep, when trying to demote a chat mod. (I was looking on the wrong page, which was why I couldn't find it). TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 04:23, February 26, 2014 (UTC)

How do you do it?[edit source]

Something I've been wondering for a long time, and I think the recent Vote Tally tool you made means you're probably one I can ask. How do you do it? How do you make tools or templates or anything of the like for the wikia page? I'm not asking to try and do so myself (especially not when I am likely unauthorized to do so). But I am a web developer, and this fascinates me. I had always thought wikia users, even the administrators, had very limited power as far as making new tools or templates. Is there a backend that staff are allowed into? Do you have any experience in development yourself?

Re:Game in lead[edit source]

This is weird, because I find this on almost every article, staff members make it, and don't undo it when seen. Tell you what I'm going to do, I'm going to look through the editing policies, and see if anything like that comes up, then I'll get back to you about this. Zippertrain85 (talk) 06:24, March 9, 2014 (UTC)

Alright, I looked through some of the editing policies and couldn't find anything that says you can't say the game that something is in, within the article, but I did find this, "Do not be afraid to repeat information found elsewhere in the article. That is the intention of the lead: to take all aspects of the article and combine them into one, coherent and condensed unit of writing." Meaning that despite game information being brought up in let's say the appearance section, it can still be brought up in the article's intro, as it's suppose to emcompass everything on the topic. I hope I cleared this up. Zippertrain85 (talk) 06:36, March 9, 2014 (UTC)

Wait a second - I thought the article template took care of game references (e.g. OblivionArmor vs. SkyrimArmor. So, adding an explicit reference to the game is redundant, isn't it? Cubears (talk) 07:04, March 9, 2014 (UTC)

Sometimes the templete is used, other times users just write it out. Zippertrain85 (talk) 07:24, March 9, 2014 (UTC)

After thinking about it a bit, I've come to the conclusion that this rule most likely is no longer active. As almost every single page on the Wiki doesn't follow it, the Forum you linked me might be greater proof of that. Zippertrain85 (talk) 07:37, March 9, 2014 (UTC)

That might've just been a mess up on my part, I had a conversation with User:Ikabite, who also just returned from a long break, who told me about the rule. I made the Forum after this conversation, but this was before I realized that it is most likely outdated. Thank you for being understanding about all of this. :) Zippertrain85 (talk) 16:00, March 9, 2014 (UTC)

Hey, I just thought I should tell you, that I did end up finding this in the policies:

"Out-of-Universe refers to the perspective in which an article is written; it is the opposite of in-universe. Something written from an out-of-universe (OOU) perspective is written from a real life point of view. It will refer, for example, to real life publications, actors, authors, events, and so on, acknowledging that its subject is fictional. In contrast, an in-universe perspective will strive for verisimilitude; that is, it will be written as though the author existed within the Elder Scrolls universe. Articles about any in-universe things, such as characters, creatures, terminology, or species, should always be written from an in-universe perspective. If a section in the article is not, such as the listing for a character's published appearances or trivia details, it should be tagged as such. In contrast, articles about the games, books or other real-life Elder Scrolls material should obviously be written from an out-of-universe perspective, but should still be noted as such. Basically, in-universe articles should never refer to the Elder Scrolls series, or any other real life things such as books, developers, or the like."

Meaning, that it is technically written, despitenot being used often. Just thought you would like to know. :) Zippertrain85 (talk) 05:30, March 10, 2014 (UTC)

New pages[edit source]

Calling all patrollers to please remember to scout the Special:Newpages. Right now there are several hundred pages needing to be patrolled as many new pages are created these days. I have myself done a lot in the last couple of days but if you have the time, please help. Thanks... —EbonySkyrim Message! 13:30, March 13, 2014 (UTC)

Assistance[edit source]

Hey Balagog, Hows it going.

I hate to come of as just coming here because I need help on one of my wiki's, but I need help.

I am attempting to adjust the layout of our front page on the Black sails wiki, the problem is when ever I the new front, it affects the rest of the content on the mainpage. I don't know how else to describe it other then putting everything into overlapping columns. I have been trying to copy code from Spartacus's main page, but they have things our wiki doesn't, and I don't want to just copy and paste another sites content. As far as you know, do you think you could fix this?

Hope everything is going ok, good luck and happy editing.-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 21:35, March 17, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, After three failed attempts I figured it was time to ask for help. When I adopted Black Sails I learned the hard way about all the things wiki's need to set up to run smoothly, like a clean and clear main page. If you ever need a new challenge, I was three wiki's that could always use an extra hand.
I owe you one. Thanks and happy editing.-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 08:22, March 18, 2014 (UTC)

New job request-again :([edit source]

Hey, I really hate to return just to bug you again, but if you are up for it, we have some problem you could fix on Black sails.

We seem to be unable to hide unused sections of the infobox's.  We added "gallery" to them, but not every character needs their own gallery.  If we can hide it, we would need to create a new infobox for minor characters, and that would be alittle more work then just having sections hide themselves.

I also wanted to know if you new how to align our quote boxes with the episode infobox. They are half an inch off and it shows.

I know you are busy on dark souls, but if you ever get a free moment, we would owe you a favor (well, another favor).

If you need anything, just let me know.-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 19:22, May 6, 2014 (UTC)

Your the best, We owe you yet again-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 06:28, May 7, 2014 (UTC)

VotesTally[edit source]

Hey there, I like the VotesTally script, but it currently seems to be focused on just TES wiki. Can you modify the script somewhat and put it up on the Developers Wiki so that others can use it? Thanks! --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 18:23, July 4, 2014 (UTC)

Patroller vote[edit source]

Hi Balagog, I don't know if you have seen much of what's been going on lately. It has been a tough couple of months. There has been complains about the inactivity of both admins and patrollers. So I have decided to do a re start of the wiki and do a re evaluation of all staff exept Tim and me as we are the only active admins and crats. As you can see here in the patrollers vote, the community have voted oppose for you as you have been inactive. There are 2 more that have been opposed. This means I'm going to remove the rights of all three of you as this has been decided. I can understand that you will have an opinion about this decision but as it is now, the wiki has suffered with less active admins leaving just me and Tim, and patrollers that haven't done their duties as agreed when becoming one. I know you have done a lot in the past but it's now for the future and the wiki needs active patrollers. If you decide to be more active you can be nominated again. —EbonySkyrim Message! 11:17, September 13, 2014 (UTC)

In the dragonborn DLC there is a wizard with a note called "Journal of a mad man."  whats this wizard for. 21:03, February 27, 2015 (UTC)
