Re: Partial "revert"Edit

Hey, As far as I know, you had used ! versus Oblivion, not necessarily "removing" the game from the page. Everywhere I've seen, it's been Oblivion used in the leads, so it was mainly for consistency across pages. However, completely removing the game from the lead has been discussed for character pages, and it's been decided that they should go. For other pages, I'm not sure, really, so I've left them be (where I've seen them). Kroq-gar78 (talk) 05:13, February 1, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I thought you were talking about that, but I included the other stuff in case ;) Anyway, I do see your point, but it's been Oblivion as the common thing to have as long as I've known (not as long as you guys), but maybe we should ask one of the admins on what to do just for clarification ;) If you want, you can leave it as ! for now until we get an answer from an admin (e.g. Jimeee or Tomb). Regardless, I gotta sleep for today :) Kroq-gar78 (talk) 06:02, February 1, 2013 (UTC)
Weapon and armor pages - Recently I have been standardizing the few hundred pages we have on these and every time I have used the full "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" format in the lead. For the sake of consistency we should just stick to that.
Jimeee (talk) 10:48, February 1, 2013 (UTC)

Time to archive Edit

Hey DarthOrc,

Your talk page it getting a little long and you may want to think about archiving it.

All you have to do is create the page: User_talk:DarthOrc/Archive_1. Copy and paste your current message into the new page (You can leave a few recent new messages on your main Talk page) and save it. Then add the archive link to the top of your main Talk page. You can look at my Talk page for an example of how I've fixed my archive.

Happy editing-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 01:17, February 5, 2013 (UTC)

While you feel it may be olf fashioned etc, the fact remains that changing The Elder Scrolls V: Dragonborn to Dragonborn in the lead is against what our guidlines state. While they are both functionally the same, by changing some you are creating inconsistencies. We certainly can't have that. You need to remember that not only skyrim or dragonborn pages use this format - its all games. If something is wrong or broken then there are ways and means to deal with it. You cant go against an agreed upon format without some form of discussion. I have gone through some of your edits and reverted that lead change.

If you feel strongly enough about changing it then I suggest you create a concensus track about it. Would you really be willing to go through hundreds of pages and make this change? Because many of the leads are not controlled by a template. A bot probably cannot do thia job either as the phrase appears under Appearances.

Also, keep in mind text in infoboxes and lists should never be decapped.

Jimeee (talk) 23:22, February 7, 2013 (UTC)

Please never decap a location name such as "Morvayn ancestral tomb" or "Raven Rock mine". That's not how they appear in game. Also the list format on Raven Rock page was correct before. I.e:

US spellingEdit

Hey guys, I saw you left a comment after correcting grammar/spelling you said US spelling please. I just want to let you know that the majority outside the US are taught english in school with english spelling. It is hard to know the american spelling just like that, one can't search on the internet in dictionaries for the correct spelling all the time. I hope you have that in mind when editing spelling :) EbonySkyrim (talk) 08:41, March 2, 2013 (UTC)

Hey, you don't understand what I mean. I know that we use US spelling on the wiki, but you have to understand that I don't know, and others too who are not US citizens, when a spelling is different on a word than the english spelling on a word, and that it's hard for us to know when. For me english spelling comes naturally, not US spelling so instead of continue to say "US spelling please", just correct it and leave it. You don't have to say it everytime. I don't have the time to check every word for US spelling before I edit, that is very timeconsuming. Do you see what I mean? I'm not doing it on purpose, when I know the US spelling I type it. EbonySkyrim (talk) 13:50, March 3, 2013 (UTC)

Edit mode errorEdit

Sorry, i'm not sure why the feature is not there. Wikia is likely responsible so I have no idea how to fix that.

Updated with new information Edit

My name is Kunigonde I am new to the Wiki but not TES and I also find myself drawn towards Alchemy (I found it essential in Oblivion). I hope my edition to your section on the Dragon page was useful. If you are interested maybe we could co-author an Alchemy tactics wiki.

A space where Alchemy is explored beyond just a crutch for Enchanting, Smithing and Fortify Restoration Exploits.

Kunigonde (talk) 08:48, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

Perspective Edit

I hate to try and drag you away from the Skyrim wiki, but I was wondering if you might be interested in coming back to Nukapedia to help out periodically. Specifically, over a subject that you appear to have reasonable knowledge over. You can find everything out here and here. Don't feel obligated or anything, I was just wondering if you might be willing to help out since a few of our editors are worrying about those helping not taking these changes seriously. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 00:52, April 17, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Blocked editEdit

It was that dreaded youtube tag that was embedded on the page. You edited the whole page, so it thought you added the youtube tags. Anyway, I made somewhat of a fix for this by uploading the direct link via our own wiki's video upload tool. So, this should fix the problem. If you ever stumble upon another page that is using the youtube tags, just click on the "Video" button, and place the video's direct link into the template. Unfortunately, you'll have to do your edits again, if you didn't save before publishing. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 05:41, May 18, 2013 (UTC)

After looking through the abuse filter, it looks like any page even those that have links with "youtube" in the name will cause the abuse filter to trigger, and it looks like there are more youtube links on the TESO page. I have no idea how to make changes to the abuse filters as it's filled with syntax coding I know nothing about, and since User:Elchzard is not around to make changes, then the next suggestion is to edit the TESO page in sections, instead of the whole page to avoid setting off the filter. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 06:03, May 18, 2013 (UTC)

Hey guys,

I'm not sure if anyone here has ever invited you guys to IRC before, so, if we haven't, here's your invite :P

To join, click here for the web chat, and see TES:IRC for more info (like setting up your own account). If you need help, feel free to ask. Have a good day :) Kroq-gar78 (talk) 06:26, June 16, 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I just want to tell you about some things about links:

Small letters work as well, e.g. stalhrim works just as well as Stalhrim. When using plurals: e.g. lurkers will do fine. It apppears as the same as lurkers.

When linking to a page that has a bracket after the title e.g. Dragonborn (Lore) you can just type Dragonborn (Lore).

Wenny0119 (talk) 06:55, July 1, 2013 (UTC)

Quest names Edit

I saw on Golden Saint (Shivering Isles) that you italicized and de-capitalized (or whatever the word is :P) The Helpless Army. Was there a discussion about doing so? I've always thought that leaving quests the way they are (including retaining capitalization) was what we've decided. Kroq-gar78 (talk) 02:27, July 14, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, the format used on most pages is either: ...during the quest "The Helpless Army" OR ...during "The Helpless Army" quest. Jimeee (talk) 09:08, July 18, 2013 (UTC)

Quests in location articles Edit

Please refer to the quests section: User:TombRaiser/Sandbox3. Regards,
──┤ Eganogard talk ├── 06:08, August 9, 2013 (UTC)

I am aware that it is a sandbox, however as of yet there are no objections to the proposed changes. Perhaps Kroq and I are jumping the gun a little bit, but in the near future it will become the official format used and the article will be edited accordingly. If you object, I suggest you voice that opinion in the consensus board soon. Regards,

Re: Arcadia's CauldronEdit

Hi guys, well I think there sometimes is a sort of "glitch" when editing. Once Kroq-gar78 experienced the same thing but he got a text in another language (I think) after an edit and a few minutes later when he looked it was ok. There are sometimes mysterius things happening ;) I have to once in a while upload new versions of images I have uploaded as they suddenly are gone. EbonySkyrim (talk) 07:15, August 9, 2013 (UTC)

Updates to Dead Crone Rock Edit

Hey - thanks for tightening up my words your the updates to Dead Crone Rock. I can sometimes be too wordy - they are an improvement. One question, though: where did you get the idea that we should not be capitalizing items from the game (e.g. "Soul Gems" vs. "soul gems")? I thought that anything that was a unique item in the game should be capitalized (like Arcane Enchanters) while anythihng that was not unique (like "path", "cave", etc.) should not.

Also, FYI, I made a further change to your change to the sentence about backtracking. Changing it to say, "Backtrack to..." makes it imply the second person. The choices are either to use the "-ing" version (which makes the action a noun), or else explicitly saying, "The Dragonborn should" (which is clear, but seems a bit clunky if it gets used too many times). Let me know if you have any issues with it.Cubears (talk) 19:41, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

Gameplay advice Edit

Thanks for the tip about avoiding gameplay advice. You're right, "should" implies that we are giving advice to people. I like how you reworded that sentence - reduce the number of words and make it a simple statement of fact. I will try to remember that in the future - phrases like "The Dragonborn should go..." are easy to slip in place of "Go..." (which is implied second person), but it lever felt quite right to me. Cubears (talk) 22:34, October 27, 2013 (UTC)

Pronoun usage Edit

Hey - I saw your changes to Unbound where you undid my pronoun changes. Rather than get into an edit war, I created a blog post to explain what I was doing:

and then created a Consensus Track Board discussion:

I'd like to hear what you think. Cubears (talk) 06:30, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Fate of the Skaal Edit

I understand that you may not have to do the Fate of the Skaal quest, but if you free them before startiong the quest, what happens when you finish the previous quest? Does Storn just skip you to the next quests? I figured it was required since I didn't see any explanation about this.Cubears (talk) 05:46, December 7, 2013 (UTC)

Anvil RecommendationEdit

Hello there! Thank you for improving my recent edits to Anvil Recommendation. Some of your additions, however, have been reverted since they do not comply with our editing standards. For example, all quest names, when written about in the article body, needs quotation marks around them. Plus, when using a pipe link, make sure to capitalize the destination name. This is the correct formatting: horse. As far as when to use lowercase and when to capitalize words in-line, always capitalize when the direct name of item is used. For example: This mage excels at frost spells and Wearing this amulet adds 10 points of Frost Damage. Hope this helps. --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 07:03, December 10, 2013 (UTC)

I'm curious to know who said formatting links that way was proper. It has always been standard editing convention to format them that way. As for the inclusion of quotation marks around a quest name, if it's not in the style guide, it was overlooked on accident. Most of those pages are incomplete and written solely by me as a documentation of observed editing trends on the wiki. The use of quotation marks around quest names has been used as an editing standard here since I can remember. --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 07:11, December 11, 2013 (UTC)

Abuse filterEdit

I can deactivate the abuse filter for YouTube videos temporarily so that the article can be cleaned up. Do you have your revision saved to a notepad, or are you planning to do the editing in-window? I would recommend doing the edits then saving them to a notepad first. That way, we can remove the filter and re-activate it once the editing is complete. I recommend while editing the article that we swap out the sourced YouTube videos for more reliable sources or text-based alternatives to avoid the filter altogether. --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 07:51, December 11, 2013 (UTC)

I looked over the edits that were getting hit by the filter, and I noticed some things that really did not need to be changed. Namely, the use of the pipe link trick. Did you know that omitting the part beyond the pipe only causes it to reappear when you press the publish button, creating a zero character change (or blank edit if only that is changed). Also, I noticed that you were still lower-casing the first word in links, which is not the correct formatting style. And I warned you about this before. Wenny0119 is not a reliable source on the matter, I'm afraid. Otherwise, the only changes were small. I could copy and paste the revisions I find acceptable for you, so it's added to the article if you prefer. --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 08:02, December 11, 2013 (UTC)

RE:Style guidelinesEdit

As the primary author of the style guide, I give you permission to reuse it. Remember that information added to the wiki is available for use under copyleft, meaning you can copy it word-for-word, so long as you link to (or attribute) the original authors. When you create the pages, link to same page on this wiki. :) --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 08:35, December 14, 2013 (UTC)

Summit of Apocrypha changes Edit

Thanks for cleaning up my edits. Absolutely agree that I shouldn't have used "contain" for loot on tables. I admit that the capitalization issue is something I don't think much about because it comes in automatically when I link to another article, and from them on I try to be consistent. I was thinking that "Font of Magicka" should be capitalized because they are specific features that cause a specific effect when activated. There aren't different kinds of magicka fonts that have different levels of effects when activated - they are all exactly the same. That is the separation I had in my mind. However, reading the definition of "proper noun," I now see where you are coming from. It's just annoying that, every time we add a link, we have to also change the text displayed to be lower case. I wish there was something that could automatically be done to make that work (for example, if an article has a "unique" tag, then the link is automatically capitalized, otherwise it is automatically de-capped).Cubears (talk) 19:41, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

Links, caps and plurals Edit

Thanks. I thought sure that the appended characters were not incorporated into the links, but I see now that they are. Was that a recent change? Cubears (talk) 23:17, December 23, 2013 (UTC)

Re:Gameolay advice Edit

Just like to point out that I was trying to clean up the combat section of the Rahgot page, it wasn't actuslly me who wrote the combat section and that me and a 2 patrollers were talking in the chat of we in fact should've just removed the combat page as it wasn't in a neutral point of view. Gameplay adviceEdit

Next time you remove a chunk of information like that from an article. Please move it to the talk page. Thanks. Ȼǿᵰᵮẽᵲ ₲ħǿśᵵ Ⱥᵰᵾᵬĭᵴ Đẽẽᵭᵴ 04:31, March 24, 2014 (UTC)

That's a matter of opinion, & I don't think it's up to you to decide what's worthy & what isn't. You can always improve it yourself, I removed the first person & second person viewpoint, from it before adding it. That information might help other users in the future. Ȼǿᵰᵮẽᵲ ₲ħǿśᵵ Ⱥᵰᵾᵬĭᵴ Đẽẽᵭᵴ 04:42, March 24, 2014 (UTC)
Yes I'm well aware of that, this isn't about removing it from the page. It's about erasing it out of existence, because it doesn't personally help you. Which is in fact selfish. You have absolutely no way whatsoever of knowing, if any of that information has ever helped anybody, so you you're being the judge, jury, & executioner & erasing it. It's really not that difficult, to copy & paste something to a talk page you know, it takes maybe two minutes tops. People come into chat all the time & ask these sort of questions, if it's so repetitive how come they don't know it? Alternatively you wouldn't know that because you're not on chat. People ask these types of questions on the forums even. It's simply just laziness & a judgement call on your part that is a fact. Ȼǿᵰᵮẽᵲ ₲ħǿśᵵ Ⱥᵰᵾᵬĭᵴ Đẽẽᵭᵴ 05:47, March 25, 2014 (UTC)
Then maybe you shouldn't be so condescending eh? It's not blindly copy & pasting, it only is in your eyes, because you're judge, jury, & executioner. Don't worry though, I'll pick up your mess for you. Sorry, for asking you to have some decency for somebody other then yourself. Peace. Ȼǿᵰᵮẽᵲ ₲ħǿśᵵ Ⱥᵰᵾᵬĭᵴ Đẽẽᵭᵴ 06:27, March 25, 2014 (UTC)

Re: ItalicsEdit

Hello DarthOrc, as far as I know there is nothing wrong with removing them, I don't see them on locations pages so I would assume they're not supposed to be there. :) Happy editing! Ȼǿᵰᵮẽᵲ ₲ħǿśᵵ Ⱥᵰᵾᵬĭᵴ Đẽẽᵭᵴ 06:53, March 27, 2014 (UTC)

The italics on the sublocations on Shivering Isles was like that in italics when I did all those pages a long time ago, during the time I played the DLC. I thought then (as a regular editor) that it should be like that as it was so before I saw it on many of the locations on SI so I left it like that then. I also thought afterwards I would go back and write a little on each sublocation as we do on other sublocations and then do headers instead but I haven't done this yet.. —EbonySkyrim Message! 15:31, March 28, 2014 (UTC)
Hi.. I'm saying I thought it should be like that then, so I left it as I didn't want to change anything. Now when I know, almost 1,5 years later I should have changed it. No italics for sublocations.. —EbonySkyrim Message! 08:52, March 29, 2014 (UTC)
