Expanded[edit source]

Know some Latin, eh 'God of the swords'?

Haha yepp, used to take it for a few years. Can't remember much of it now, though. Deus Gladiorum (talk) 05:50, July 3, 2012 (UTC)

Dwarven Crossbow[edit source]

I have fixed the disambig problem.

I understand your motive for changing the term used, but the wiki has typically followed this guideline. Given that this is a table of ingrediants for each item the user can infer from this, and the rest of the article that crafting is involved. Really minor, but didn't want you to take offense to it. Bolts (Dawnguard) Senjai (talk) 16:01, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

lol no problem, it's minor. Deus Gladiorum (talk) 16:17, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

Dragon[edit source]

At a distance it kinda looks like a crossbow. It will do for now unless we find a better image that fits.

Sorry thought the concept art was all I revised. My bad. TheExiledGear (talk) 02:33, July 12, 2012 (UTC)

RE:Daggers[edit source]

I disagree; the article looks much neater and much more organized and uniform with other weapon articles with the infobox template than without. Our standard practice for weapon and armor set articles is to include an infobox template that has general information and a picture. See, for example, Daedric Armor (Skyrim). You are right, none of these other general weapon articles have infobox templates, but none of them are good articles, non? That's why. They don't abide by our style and formatting guidelines for weapons. --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 18:53, July 12, 2012 (UTC)

I'm not saying Crossbow (Dawnguard) and some of those other articles aren't well written or superbly formatted; they just don't quite meet the standard for good article-hood. These articles are in much better shape than most of the articles on the wiki. If you want to see some bad articles, check out our maintenance logs. Atrocious. At any rate, yes, we can start adding the templates to these articles. For the parameters, make sure to add the distances between the highest quality and the lowest quality. For example, min. damage - max damage or 1-46 DamageIcon.png. Like that. If it's an armor set, make sure you added up the cumulative values for armor, value, and weight. And that's it. :) --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 19:12, July 12, 2012 (UTC)
I disagree. The infobox on daggers is largely vague information that ranges wildly. Figures like "4 - 12" are not much use to anyone and are clearly covered better in the table anyway. It makes sense for Armor sets of course, as each piece is part of a set and shares fields, like class and upgrage material. Doing the same for weapon sets is again not much use to anyone.
The good article tag is tenuous at best - I have seem plenty of "good articles" that are simply not. It's not like we have a set standard of what makes an article "good".
Jimeee (talk) 19:24, July 12, 2012 (UTC)
True. No official standard, but we know what constitutes as a "good" article. We are writing a policy on it, but still see the infobox template as useful and sharp. --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 19:27, July 12, 2012 (UTC)
Also the style guide doesn't actually mention that infoboxes are mandatory on general weapon pages such as Daggers. "Each weapon article deserve it's own template." - I take that as single weapons like an Elven Dagger as that is what is provided in the example. At no point have we decided or discussed what the concensus was for general weapon articles such as Daggers (Skyrim) - and we probably should before we make these changes.
Jimeee (talk) 19:33, July 12, 2012 (UTC)
Jimeee, this is established policy. A simple talkpage conversation will not change it. If you do want to propose a change, though, please do so on that policy page's talkpage, and with a forum. I think we all know what is meant by "deserves," too. There's no use being pedantic about it. Elchzard (talk) 19:35, July 12, 2012 (UTC)
Is it weird that I feel honored to have admins arguing on my talk page? Deus Gladiorum (talk) 19:45, July 12, 2012 (UTC)

Videos[edit source]

Please be aware that uploading videos directly violates our media policy. Videos are never permitted in mainspace articles and are strongly discouraged from blogs and the user domain. This is not because the content of the video violates copyright or because the content is any way flawed; we have removed this privileged from users due to massive inter-user problems that stemmed from the uploading of videos. One user, for instance, will upload a video to an article and another user, thinking his video is better, uploads his and replaces it in the article. User one returns, sees the new video reverts the edit. User two comes back and reverts the reversion. This has happened so many many times that we've decided to completely disallow videos altogether.

Please consider this an official warning. Further uploading of videos will result in a ban. --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 04:59, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

Boxes[edit source]

I agree, things like Form ID: SEE TABLE looks sloppy and unecessary as the uppercase is forced via the template - in those cases I usually replace it with a "-".

The other admins would prefer the infoboxes stay, so there is not much that can be done right now :(
