Regarding your edits[edit source]

Hello! I've noticed your recent edits, and I'd like to thank you for your hard work. However, quite a few of them tend to be speculative or plagued by grammatical errors. Please provide a source for any content you add that may seem rather speculative, and please make sure your spelling and grammar are in top condition. Other than that, good work! I'm always happy to see users contributing to the wiki. Thank you :) Likes-That-Tail (talk) 04:49, August 11, 2014 (UTC)

I'd like to reinforce Tail's suggestion, as you didn't seem to stop the speculation. Any doubtful info without a source will be removed, so please refrain from adding such. If you don't know how to source your claims, feel free to message me. —Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 22:54, August 11, 2014 (UTC)
Sorry about that stuff guys I don't really know how to spell good and not to add speculations without a source if you could help me I would be very grateful. (Dragon Boy 252 (talk) 23:06, August 11, 2014 (UTC)) Dragon Boy 252
If the information you are adding appears in a certain vehicle of information, such as a book, or by dialogue with a certain character, you can add ref tags. For example: "Umaril was the son of an Ayleid mother and a divine father" is an unsourced claim and grounds for removal, however, if one were to write <ref>[[The Song of Pelinal, Book II]]</ref> after the statement in question, it would become sourced. Remember, the wiki does not benefit from anyone adding info out of thin air, and I recommend you read the policy I linked. Hope this help. Remember, ask away any questions ;) —Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 00:17, August 12, 2014 (UTC)
Look, this is getting disruptive. Wheter you stop making up information or I'll report you to an admin. —Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 01:37, August 12, 2014 (UTC)
Hey again, Dragon Boy! The reason that Sky Above,Voice Within has been reverting your edits is due to the speculative nature of them. They often lack feasibility, sourcing, or confirmation. We can't just have editors adding whatever they want, can we? Please listen to Sky and take his advice. He is only trying to help you. He hasn't threatened to block you, as far as I know, as he doesn't even have the power to do so. Thanks! —Likes-That-Tail Message :) 03:48, August 16, 2014 (UTC)
Hi, I'll give you a reply as Timeoin isn't available just now. Sky is trying to help but I suggest you have a look at both the Sourcing and the image policy regarding those images you have uploaded. Are they from Imperial Library? One has to add the source in that case if you are allowed to upload and use these here. Speculation you can add to the talkpage of the article. Otherwise just ask if you are in doubt. —EbonySkyrim Message! 08:18, August 16, 2014 (UTC)

Probationary block[edit source]

Hi Dragon Boy, I have put you on a probationary block for 3 days as you have after several suggestions from other editors and me, still not stopped adding false information into articles and been using images taken from UESP.net, which is not allowed. Please take this time to read through the Policies and guidelines and the Style guide we have, to learn more how to edit and what to add. Here is also our image policy. You can still edit your talkpage during this time. —EbonySkyrim Message! 06:40, August 30, 2014 (UTC)

Dear everybody I am just done with this wiki I tried to add info that was not on the wiki by reading books a bought the elder scrolls and looking on other wikis to find information I could add on to this wiki but no you guy just want everything perfect because if its something you did not hear abought then you guys cant have it and if a picture isn't from the imperial library then I can't add it well you guys are just people who just love to run people down and I am sick of everybody doing this to me I can share information that I have heard a bought from actual elder scrolls books and wikis besides this one.(Dragon Boy 252 (talk) 21:13, August 30, 2014 (UTC)) Dragon Boy 252

And it was me who created the argonian invasion page added the history section on the shivering isles page and added new info abought port telvannis so I don't just add speculations.(Dragon Boy 252 (talk) 21:47, August 30, 2014 (UTC)) Dragon Boy 252

iam not being rude or anything but every one of you guys think you run this wiki you guys think just because you have been on this site for a few years you can tell people what to do whether its telling someone not to add speculations or not to add this photo because its on a certain site. I got all my info from reading elder scrolls books and looking on other sites because I care a bought adding all the info on a page instead of leaving the page empty except for a few words that's why I add my info that I have obtained which you guys call speculations on to the site and I am sorry if I have been adding stuff that is not exactly in the games I am just trying to add more info that the creators of this site failed to include.(Dragon Boy 252 (talk) 00:10, August 31, 2014 (UTC)) Dragon Boy 252

Some editing help[edit source]

Hey Brian! I saw that message you left on my talk page, and I'm more than happy to help you. First and foremost: Do not add speculation. If you can't observe something happen in a game (a game without mods!), in an in-game book, or in an official TES novel, you probably shouldn't add it. Also, don't for get to always use spellcheck. We can't ha e pages filled with misspellings, can we? If a word has a red line under it while editing in sourcemode, it is probably misspelled. Although, some words that are made up by the developers, Altmer, for example, will have a red line under it despite being spelled correctly. I also brought this up in the first point, but do not add information that is based off of mods. If it isn't made by Bethesda, Zenimax, or MK, it isn't canon, and therefore, shouldn't be on an article. And one last thing, under no circumstances should second person POV be used in articles. The word "you" should be avoided at all costs, unless it is used in a quote. If you need more help, message me on my talk page! Good luck :) —Likes-That-Tail Need me? :) 14:23, September 7, 2014 (UTC)

Re: edits[edit source]

Hi Dragon Boy, I've just looked at a few of the reverts and it is as Erik is saying in the comment when reverting. You need to have a source if you are adding the stuff I saw he removed. Where have you found out about Dreyla Alors mother, that she died in the invasion? —EbonySkyrim Message! 05:33, September 8, 2014 (UTC)

Aha, then you can add someting like this: During interation with Dreyla, the Dragonborn will learn the faith of her mother, who died... and so on. Then it's fine. —EbonySkyrim Message! 08:56, September 8, 2014 (UTC)
I have reworded it as you said you founf this out while talking to her. No extra source is needed for this. —EbonySkyrim Message! 20:28, September 8, 2014 (UTC)

How to source[edit source]

As you requested, I am putting this tutorial on your talk page.

  1. Source your statement with <ref>your source</ref>
  2. Once it is done, add the "References" section right under the "Appearances" section by simply writing ==References== under it.
  3. Once the "References" section is added, write <references/> in the newly made section.

That's it. Serve Akatosh or serve no one. (talk) 18:52, September 8, 2014 (UTC)

Re: just wanted to let you know and other stuff[edit source]

Hi Dragon Boy, thanks for the update. It's great if you can link to the pages if you want me to have a look at it. Lore pages are on the go as Ghost and some others knows about this which is great as we have lacked many so far. EbonySkyrim Message! 10:26, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

Alright Dragon Boy, I know you want to help by adding stuff to the lore pages. But what you are adding is unsourced so I have reverted them all. Ghost have told you how to source information when you add it. Where do you get this information from? You have to add a source to the article and you have been told several times now and if it continues there will be block coming. EbonySkyrim Message! 21:35, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

Re: I am sorry[edit source]

Dragonboy, it isn't anything personal but you keep un sourcing your edits here, & whenever I try to find the source myself I find out that it is either nearly identical to something on UESP or The Imperial Library. You have already been told this multiple times, & have been blocked for it once already. The person who made those edits on UESP put their own effort & time into making them & they don't deserve to have their work copied & pasted & only slightly changed for it to be completely unattributed & presented as if you did the work yourself. If I find another identical edit like it again, & you keep un sourcing your edits, then I will have to block you again like Ebony has already said. Re: Suggestions[edit source]

Hi Dragon Boy, yes I am aware as many others that we lack in articles in the department you are pointing out, we don't however go to the UESP net to look what they have. Thank you for the suggestions and I know that you want to help, but bare in mind, anything added to lore pages must be sourced, not taken from the UESP and other websides. You have to put some work into it as Ghost have told you in previous posts. EbonySkyrim Message! 14:09, December 6, 2014 (UTC)

Map images[edit source]

Hi, I've deleted those mapimages you uploaded and added to the articles. This is someone's interpretation of the continets so it's not an official map and it has been uploaded and deleted before. Just taking images of the net and using them is something you have to think really hard about when you do. You got the image of Almalexia too when you looked for images? Using google? EbonySkyrim Message! 11:38, December 10, 2014 (UTC)

Alright, but if you are going to upload an image, please rename it before doing so. I had a look and that image of Almalexia was on several different websites so it's fine. But remember that we do prefer you take your own images from your own games. If you have them. The last image you uploaded, the one of a Silt Strider I see you also found on the net, it has UI in it and we don't like that. Remember that there are copyright laws to follow and not all images are up for grabs just because they are available on the internet. EbonySkyrim Message! 08:19, December 13, 2014 (UTC)

Images added on Sheogorath article[edit source]

Hello. I had to remove the images that you added to Sheogorath as it broke the formatting. The links to the respective artifacts is enough in this case, as there is not enough room on the article to add all of the images to that section. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 03:40, December 18, 2014 (UTC)

I have also deleted the images you uploaded, which all have been uploaded before. EbonySkyrim Message! 07:17, December 18, 2014 (UTC)

Please I've told you to look at the preview before submitting regarding the article. And you are not doing the sourcing right. It's explained to you in one of the messages above how to add a source. I have edited the article but can't add the correct source as I don't know what you are referring to in your "sources". EbonySkyrim Message! 11:30, December 22, 2014 (UTC)

Liches[edit source]

I'll answer this one for her :) Yes, there should probably be a lore page for it. Like you said - they're in pretty much every game. There are more than enough named or varied types of liches from the various games, as well as a few in-game books that talk about them, to warrant a page for it. RE:Nerevarine[edit source]

I do know know much about Nerevarine or the Morrowind game, so I would be unable to help it much. If it needs work, then you, or somebody who can help, needs to expand the article.

If you go to guilds, there is a team of editors who are wants to help Morrowind. I would talk to them and see what it would take for you guys to help with that area of the wiki.

Thanks and happy editing.-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 23:32, February 23, 2015 (UTC)

RE: nerevarine page[edit source]

There are a few problems with that, actually. Because the player of the game can customize the Nerevarine however they wish, no specific images of him, or her, can be added - neither none nor all of them are canon. As the player can do as they wish in the game, not much information about the accomplishments of the Nerevarine can be given - while it may be canon for some people's games, it is not for others. Not much more information can be added about the Nerevarine, I'm afraid. Some, but not much at all. Herobrinetrollin herobrinetrollin's talk page 00:46, February 27, 2015 (UTC)

Duplicate Images[edit source]

I'd like to inform you that Th5CNWHIR7.jpg, ThHFO9JP07.jpg, and Th1JCEM9L4.jpg are downsized duplicates of Dagoth Ur Character.png, Vivec God.png, and TESIII Jiub.png respectively. As such, they have been marked for deletion as duplicates are not allowed by the guidelines. You don't need to add these photos, if you wanted to downsize them and post them on the Nerevarine page you should have added the existing ones to the page and adjusted their dimensions in the options. As for future uploading of images, I highly advise you to post them in .png form, name them accordingly (i.e. "Ash Yam (Morrowind).png" instead of "Screenshot2830183048.jpg") and add the appropriate image liscense (i.e. Template:Bethimage/Template:Zenimage). I hope you follow my advice in the future, thank you. ☞ Rim < Chat with Me | Updates | Edits > 07:15, February 28, 2015 (UTC)

RE:Just asking[edit source]

The problem is that the two where separate people prior to the gray march. The Hero has his own history, and it ends with him becoming the Mad God, who has his own history. It would cause to much confusion to merge the two, and it would be better to keep it the way it is.-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 04:00, March 2, 2015 (UTC)

Re: Giant lore page[edit source]

Yeah, I suppose you could make a lore page for giants. Well, if you want, it might be easier to just add the lore information to the disambig page instead of making a whole new one; that way, it's a lore page and a disambig at the same time. I can come on and spell check it for you after you've written it, and maybe add some info. —Atvelonis (talk) 03:38, March 13, 2015 (UTC)

Lore Pages[edit source]

Hey, just wanted to give you some thanks for all the Lore pages you've made. For Mannimarco, the Oblivion page for him documents all the lore. I think you could just move the info to the lore page. Also, if you want, you can put the Template:User-Canadian on your user page. I know this is sort of off topic but what province do you live in? Templates[edit source]

Hey Dragon Boy, I've seen your recent edits and I figured I'd point something out about your template usage. For appearances, instead of linking the games you can use the templates, but example The Elder Scrolls Online would be used at the Template:Online. All you'd have to do is put the word "Online" between two sets of curly braces, as seen here {{ }}. You can also do this for Template:For which is displays "For ______, see _____". ☞ Rim < Chat with Me | Updates | Edits > 04:39, March 16, 2015 (UTC)

  2. Pages do not belong to you, they belong to the community. Anyone has any right to go to pages and fix mistakes, or even move them to better titles.

Page renaming[edit source]

Hey Brian! Thought I'd mention that I'm going to be renaming some of the lore pages you created. For example, I'll be renaming Spriggan (Lore) to just Spriggan. This is so that finding and linking to the pages is easier for readers and editors. So if you see that pages you made ending with (Lore) aren't there anymore, don't be alarmed; they haven't been deleted, just renamed. Thanks, and have fun editing! —Atvelonis (talk) 01:51, March 25, 2015 (UTC)

Re: High ordinator page[edit source]

Well, High Ordinators have a section on Ordinators, but yes, it would be good if they had their own page. And infoboxes are actually pretty simple to make; for a Morrowind character article, this is what you would put at the top of the page. To the right of the = is where you would put the character's image, race, gender, etc.

|image =
|race =
|gender =
|level =
|location =
|health =
|magicka =
|fatigue =
|armor =
|class =
|faction =
|rank =
|quests =
|services =
|essential =
|RefID =

Atvelonis (talk) 14:27, April 4, 2015 (UTC)

The upload page looks harder than it actually is. It's possible to upload images from other sites, but it's best if you take the image yourself. First, copy all the code in that box and paste it in the "Summary" area below. You really only have to pay attention to Description, Source, Filespecs, and Licensing. For Description just write what the picture is of. For Source, write the game the image is from (if you took it); if you got it from another site, include a link to it. If you made any other changes to the image such as cropping, put that in Filespecs. And for Licensing, write what you selected in the tab just below the Summary box. —Atvelonis (talk) 14:59, April 4, 2015 (UTC)
You forgot to add the .png to the end of the image name, that's why it wasn't appearing. I've fixed it now. Have fun editing! —Atvelonis (talk) 17:07, April 4, 2015 (UTC)

UESP info[edit source]

Hi. Please don't copy+paste information from the UESP to our wiki like you did on Mournhold Temple (Lore), that is considered plagiarism and is not something we allow. So keep this in mind when editing in the future. Thanks. —Atvelonis (talk) 22:08, April 4, 2015 (UTC)

RE: Help please[edit source]

Hi, the reason that when you try to upload a file and it says it already exists means either two things:

  1. There is an image with the same name and format (.png, .jpg, .gif)
  2. The same exact file already exists on the wiki

Whatever the case, go the search bar and type in this: File:Example

For "Example", just replace it with the name of the image you are trying to upload. Click whatever comes up after you type the full name and if there are multiple formats (i.e. .png and .jpg) then click the image that matches your file's format.

I hope this help. Also, I should remind you that putting brackets around your signature is not necessary, the only thing it does is make it harder to read. Thank you. ☞ Rim < Talk | Updates | Edits > 08:51, April 8, 2015 (UTC)

It turns out you added the image to a reference, so it added the image to the list. That is why you couldnt just remove it because the link was on another part of the article.

Re:Image Help[edit source]

I suppose I'll answer this to the best of my ability. Here's a step-by-step guide on adding images.
  1. Go to Special:Upload or Special:Newimages. The Upload page is more "professional" per say, but only suggested if you're adding an image that would need a description. The Newimages page is a lot simpler and quicker.
  2. Once you're there, click "Add a Photo" and the top-left corner.
  3. Select your the image from your computer by clicking "Choose a file". Browse your computer to find the image and select it once you do. I suggest organizing the images into folders.
  4. Once that is done, click "More Options" at the bottom of the pop-up box.
  5. Select the "Licensing" drop-down menu. For the Royal Guard image, select the "From an Elder Scrolls series game" option.
  6. Optionally, add a caption and/or select the check boxes. The caption should briefly describe the image. I'd suggest checking the "Watch this file" box, but leaving the "Ignore any warnings" box unchecked.
  7. Click "Upload photo" and wait for it to finish loading.
  8. Go to the page (in this case Royal Guard) and click the "edit" button.
  9. Go into either source or visual mode.
    • If using source mode, select/enter in the "image =" and enter the image name 1 space ahead of the = sign. Do this by entering the file name, and make sure to add the kind of image (.png, .jpg, .gif) to the end. I
    • If using visual mode, hover over the puzzle piece. Go to the one that show the infobox (stats, general info of the page) and click the and click "edit" in the bottom-right side. Enter in the image name, again including the kind of image.
  10. Click "Preview" to see if it looks as intended. Click "OK" to save the template.
  11. Click "Publish" on the right side to save your changes. The image should now be on the page.
Hope this helps. ☞ Rim < Talk | Updates | Edits > 05:13, May 13, 2015 (UTC)

REHow to link info from the imperial library[edit source]

To add a reference, you need the link to the exact item you are getting your source, and you need to add the reference codes to the article. You add < ref > (no spaces) then add the link to the source then add </ ref >.

You also need to make sure the template Reflist is on the bottom of the article so it can so the references.-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 04:14, May 23, 2015 (UTC)

Alright, I've formatted it as well as I could at this hour, it should be fixed now. —Atvelonis (talk) 04:45, May 24, 2015 (UTC)

Re: Just a Question[edit source]

Here is an example of out-of-game referencing on Sload:

"...the plague was responsible for the deaths of more than half of Tamriel's population at the time, as well as large amounts of livestock."<ref name=example|ref group="UL">

At the bottom of the article you would also have to write the following (under the normal references):

<references group="UL"/>

UESP plagiarism[edit source]

Hello Dragon Boy, I must ask you to stop copying or even paraphrasing from UESP when writing articles. In Neloth for example, you copied entire paragraphs. While we appreciate your interest in editing, we cannot allow you to plagiarize from other sources: this goes against both our policies and UESP's. We've had a LOT of problems with them in the past about plagiarism, and I would very much like it if those problems are never repeated. If you want the article to be kept, you rewrite it fully so that none of it is like UESP's, however if that is not done in a reasonable amount of time it will be deleted. In the future, it is best if you completely ignore UESP when writing articles. Thank you. —Atvelonis (talk) 21:39, June 7, 2015 (UTC)
