What's the right way to edit wkils

How do I edit the skill pages right are there rules Skyrim9000 (talk) 05:28, May 22, 2014 (UTC)

I am absolutely positive that Skyrim9000 and Skyrim90000 are the same person. The same poor language skills and editing styles are present in both, not to mention the fact that they have the same avatar and, of course, almost identical names. - Erik the Mad (talk) 03:50, May 27, 2014 (UTC)

Unmarked Locations

Are there any significant unmarked locations in the game? From mind, I can't think of any. I mean, yeah, there's a few places that have, say, a lorebook in them, near a random shack somewhere. BUT ... I don't think they should have their own page. (Rather, a map image of where they appear in the game, instead). The reason I think we shouldn't - purely an ease-of-admin thing. We open the floodgates with it, and it will become virtually impossible to keep it useful. I'd rather have them on the region pages instead, if possible. (I.e. under a subheading of other notable locations or some such thing). TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 11:58, May 27, 2014 (UTC)

Ah, okay. Well - in that case - go for it :) TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 13:08, May 27, 2014 (UTC)

Removing the game from leads

So, is that still being done for character articles, or has something changed? Last I heard, it was still standard procedure. - Erik the Mad (talk) 01:14, May 28, 2014 (UTC)

Books, too, eh? Well, in that case, should the entire lead be removed? Because saying "so-and-so is a book" sounds a little blunt and clumsy, not to mention that the vast majority of book articles seem to lack them entirely. - Erik the Mad (talk) 15:36, May 28, 2014 (UTC)
Good to know. Thanks for all the help. - Erik the Mad (talk) 15:52, May 28, 2014 (UTC)

Cannot Edit My Own Profile Page

I've made several Edits to my Profile ( this past several hours and none are updated. I can view my updated Page only when I'm logged in, when I log out, or view from another PC, the very old version is shown. What is going on?
Fycan [fahy-kan] @ 07:19, May 29, 2014 (UTC)

It is more clear if you look at my History Page (; when logged off or on other pc, I will only see the 2013-03 version.. and never the 2014-05 edited versions that were made recently =/
Fycan [fahy-kan] @ 07:37, May 29, 2014 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but it appears there's even more problem. I asked for help from 3 Administrators, and I just realized this page is the only page that shows my texts when I log off. My other 2 messages posted to other 2 Admins also will not show, you can look at the History here ( &; their Talk Page will not have my messages, but they appear in their History Page.
Fycan [fahy-kan] @ 08:07, May 29, 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for the quick reply. Are you seeing the new Location Section on my Profile Page & my messages on the Talk Page of other 2 Admins?
I use many different PC at home and don't normally like to stay logged on. Sometimes I access the website through Desktop Browser, sometimes Steam Overlay, sometimes iPad, etc. Is there someone with technical knowledge that I could ask regarding this matter?
As I looked further into this it seems when I'm logged out, the latest Version shown is this (, but when I'm logged in the latest & current version ( is shown - note the different of the last 2 digits.
Fycan [fahy-kan] @ 11:15, May 29, 2014 (UTC)
I can see my latest version now. I didn't check every hour, but after 12 hours I could see the latest version. So there is some time lag problem that I've never experienced before. Thank you.

So, I hear you're up for a promotion. Awesome! I support this, because, well, you're ready and you more than deserve it. So, when it passes, ill promote you. On a different note  ... Should we have pages for things like crafting ingredients? (like, individual ones?). Once they're done properly, I think ot would be really great to have, as you'd be able to see what recipes you can use for, say, Thin Broth. And for the ones like armor, woodworking and clothing, it would be good in terms of search enging optimisation, and we could have a list of their known locations. (i.e. there's a deposit of iron ore near the dolmen outside Mathiisen. TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 23:36, May 29, 2014 (UTC)

side note again: were really close to 30,000 pages on the statistics page. TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 23:36, May 29, 2014 (UTC)
One more for good measure. Knightmare - do you think we should have those gallery pictures with the stats on them? Personally, I think they can be useful with the rarer items such as those. (At the very least, it would help ensure that the stats are kept accurate). I'm working on little bits of everything atm when I get online - I don't get very long online, and have to listen out for Ethan waking up, as I'm on Ethan duty at night. So I do small things every night. And usually different things, as theres such a large amount to do with such a massive, massive game. TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 23:47, May 29, 2014 (UTC)
I know. Part of the secret telepathy with bureaucrats you get automatically when you become one. :P and no, I'm spending time with her still. In fact, during the day, when I'm editing, shes asleep in my arms. And okay - Im working on other things anyway. (since I can't play, I'm finally going through all the screenshots. There's ... A heck of a lot of them :P TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 10:04, May 30, 2014 (UTC)

Oblivion Clothing Page Update

I'm adding on more and more each day, and I finished Table of Robes, and Table of Outfits. I'm just about finished with Table of Shirts, but I have run into a problem with finding information and images for the Tattered Shirt. I've also began Table of Pants and Table of Shoes.

As of the moment, I'm not editing to tables or descriptions for outfits and robes unless I find more locations as I'm doing my house to house sweep of Oblivion.

The overall description for shirts, pants, and shoes are definitely NOT final as I like to add onto and revise them after I'm completely happy with the corresponding table.

There's only couple problems I need help with: 1. How should I get images for shoes? Should I crop already existing pictures from the wiki, put an NPC picture that is wearing the shoes, or get new ones altogether? 2. Do you have any information on Tattered Shirt and Tattered Pants or know where to find such information?

Thanks, DeltaFerret 21:54, May 30, 2014 (UTC)

ps here's the link if you want to check on it real quick, feedback is helpful User:DeltaFerret/Sandbox1

Alright, I'll try moving the image notes to the previous column maybe. Thanks for the link, but I kinda verify and do everything with the console version, that's why I have issues with the Tattered Shirt and Pants. I'll keep looking around on the internet for some leads. I have a small question about books- is it not proper to list a book's location if it's marked as stealing, even if it is put on the book's page and not the table?
Thanks again, DeltaFerret 14:24, May 31, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip! After these tables, I was thinking about unique clothing tables to be on a separate page (just because I like things organized and those would create a very cluttered clothing page), if that's cool with you. Also, like you said with the shoes, I'm just going to take the image column out since I'd need over 10 more images and it's not do-able right now and I could always add it back in later if needed. I'll just stick to non-stealing books for now
Thanks, DeltaFerret 00:35, June 1, 2014 (UTC)

Silly Question

How the heck is it possible to work out whether someone is an Altmer or a Bosmer? My overly tired brain is unable to work it out :\ TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 12:58, May 31, 2014 (UTC)

Well, yeah, there's the height thing, but that doesn't really help when you're looking at screenshots lol. Oh, and shouldnt it be possible to tell the difference between Nords and Bretons based on where they are? Like - Bretons are the ones in the Daggerfall Covenant :P And Nords are in the Ebonheart one? Idk, Ive been getting confused with the two elven races though - some I'd swear were Altmer, but they talk about "The Green", so I know they're Bosmer. Then theres all the bloody characters that dont have ANY dialogue ... AT ALL. *sighs*. Oh well - I think I've finally gotten Vulkhel Guard screenshots finished - or very nearly finished. :) TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 09:36, June 1, 2014 (UTC)
Ah. Sweet. Yeah, I see it now. File:Calenethel.png is of an Altmer, and File: Belane.png is of a Bosmer. Sweet. That will make life a lot easier. :) As for the Redguards and Bretons one - well, if they're light-skinned, unless they specifically say Redguard-culture things (talk about Ansei, Hunding, any of the Yokudan Deities like Ruptga, then I'd put them as Bretons. Redguards are supposed to be "hard to disguise" (In Haven I heard a Redguard make that comment lol). TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 09:48, June 1, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the message regarding quests.

Since I have been only working on the Ebonheart Pact quests, I copied the quest template info from the quest tab button on the create form a while ago to be able to save some time updating and standardizing the quest articles by quickly cutting and pasting from a file.

I'll use the button from now on to ensure the latest version is being used. I'm on my 2nd pass of the Ebonheart Pact Stonefalls quests and nearly done. I'll update the remaining ones to the new template as I go.

Dark Brotherhood Armour

You edited my image on the Dark Brotherhood Armor (Tribunal) page, and it says that you removed the white lines. However, when I look at the image, I can still see the white lines. I don't understand why they were there in the first place (they weren't anywhere in the screenshot), and I can't see a difference after your edit on them. Any idea about why the lines are there and how to remove them? Also, I'm very sorry about all of the other images that I uploaded that you had to delete, but I haven't really uploaded images much before, and I was being incompetent. Emperor Maximus (talk) 19:35, June 6, 2014 (UTC)

Update: When I look at the image as a thumbnail, I can't see any white lines. But when I click on the image to see it full-size, I can see the weird white line things. Does this happen to you? Anyone else reading this, does it happen to you, too? Emperor Maximus (talk) 18:17, June 10, 2014 (UTC)

Hey Ebony I wanted to ask you a question about the Rumors page. Should every Rumor in the games be mentioned or should only notable ones be mentioned *Example the rumors that lead you to quests. Another question is should the DLC of the two games Dragonborn Knights of the nine have their own section for rumors? If so what should and shouldn't be mentioned there. Dragon disintegrating bug

Ebony, Thanks for putting that bug up on the Dragon's page. Unfortunately, the Bethesda link is no good anymore. Can you please change it to Cubears (talk) 15:59, June 7, 2014 (UTC)

Hey EbonySkyrim, my name is Ben. I was editing a while ago, and I started thinking about some of the things that this wiki needs to look better and to improve the TESWikis reputation as a reliable source. I messaged Timeoin a bit back, but honestly, the message I sent to him was about cleaning up the wiki and adding new things, and I just couldn't wait. So I messaged you to inform you about these ideas, which include some policy and guidelines additions, new templates and even new badges! For the policy and guidelines additions, there is already a guideline for Provinces, but no template. For templates, there is already one for governments, but no policy and guideline for it. Similar to the governments, there is a template for Battles, but no policy and guideline. The wiki should have templates and policies and guidelines for races, titles/ranks/occupations, languages, rituals/prophecies, organizations/factions, wars and events. Another thing that needs cleaning up is the consensus on main articles, lore articles and game articles. I understand why we split articles based on games, but I do not understand why some articles are together as one while some are completely divided by the game they appear in. For example, the Factions article is a "lore article," which acts as a lore page for many of the organizations/factions mentioned within the universe, as well as a portal for factions articles in games. On the other side, the Thieves Guild articles are split based on which game they appear in, and a separate disambiguation page lists all of the Thieves Guild pages in games. However there is no main page or lore page for the Thieves Guild. On a separate note, one another thing that could be different is the idea that articles are put into an in-universe style. I have noticed that many articles on the wiki possess sections that say which game they appear in. For example, a location, Alftand, contains a lead paragraph that says: "Alftand is an ancient Dwemer Ruin located in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I believe that this is not only unnecessary and useless, but is also unprofessional for a wiki. These are just a number of changes that I hope can be added to the wiki. When you have the time, I'd like to discuss this with the other admins and the TESWiki community. Thanks.Chairmanprescott6179 (talk) 19:01, June 7, 2014 (UTC)

The Year 2920

Here's a question for you - these books - they already exist in-universe. (for example: 2920,_vol_02_-_Sun's_Dawn). I think that we probably need separate pages for the Only versions of these books. The reason being - to avoid people correcting any redirect links to "correct" ones. By that - I mean the fact that that book (the one for the SECOND month of the year, mind you) - thats "The Year 2920, Vol. 4" in ESO. Sufficient enough reason for separate content? TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 13:15, June 9, 2014 (UTC)

As in - is there a difference between The Year 2920, Vol. 2 and 2920, vol 02 - Sun's Dawn? Yes, yes there is. NO content is the same :P TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 03:08, June 10, 2014 (UTC)

Interface section

Hello EbonySkyrim! I chose to remove the Interface section because some of the information was inaccurate and the section would be more suited to a tutorial page rather than an overview of Quests. Also, I capitalized the second word because it looked aesthically pleasing as Main Quests rather than Main quests. (I hope I'm doing this messaging thing correctly. I haven't tried to message on the site before) The people that say women shouldn't be gamers probably lost to me. (talk) 21:31, June 9, 2014 (UTC)Heart's Masquerade

I was curious about it earlier, but would it be wrong to create individual Navboxes, based on individual variants of certain things? E.g, things like this, but create them for things like individual arrow types. I was just bringing this up, as I found navigation between the aforementioned pretty clunky without a Navbox. Since some of your archives are locked to editing, could you possibly add {{ArchivePage}} to the top of User talk:EbonySkyrim/Archive 1 to User talk:EbonySkyrim/Archive 5? This should hopefully update the ArchiveList template on this page so people can see the archives as needed. --Speysider Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 18:31, June 13, 2014 (UTC)

Well, if you use the Archive option, then ArchiveList will be persistently added anyway. You are better off just adding that template and using it, since the other template is being phased out in favour of the newer system. --Speysider Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 17:13, June 15, 2014 (UTC)

Commander Maro page & Vandalism

I'm sorry for bothering you but I wasn't sure how to report this issue. Today I have had to revert 5 edits to the page Commander Maro by the user Richie.talley.3 which were, in effect, vandalism and unnecessary. Is there any chance the page could be temporarily locked as the user is constantly vandalising it and I am getting bored of rolling back the vandalism.

Three Questions

Hey Ebony! I'm LTT, a user here at the wiki. I have three things that I'd like to ask you about.

1. This has been really bugging me, but the Wikia photo bugs, do you know when they'll be fixed? There have been a couple forum posts and several users coming on chat to ask about them, do you know when Wikia will fix the problem?

2. I've mostly been a forum/chat kind of person, mostly because my computer has been glitching lately, I play on xbox so I can't access files, and I only own Skyrim and Oblivion. I've been wanting to be more active in the mainspace, but most my edits are spelling/grammar corrections, fixing recent edits that didn't follow guidelines (e.g. writing in second person, etc) and fixing edits that weren't necessary. Do you have any pages/sections/projects that I could start building/editing on?

3. I've been nominated for chat mod recently, and my nomination had several supports that were lacking a profound basis, I understand that you gave permission yo EmperorJohnson to remove the edits. I understand that you're busy running this wiki (you guys are doing great, btw!) but I would prefer if somebody else would be the judge of what votes were valid and what votes weren't. Giving EJ the right to edit my nomination has caused controversy, because what gives EJ the right to decide what is and isn't valid? There are plenty of other users on the wiki that are more qualified than him. I would much rather have a staff member have looked it over, not someone who 1. Has shown aggression towards me. 2. Is running for the same position as me. 3. Is neutral on the matter at hand. Although I do respect your judgment, I believe allowing EJ to edit my votes was a mistake. I mean, if he has the right to edit votes on other people's nominations, why don't I? Why not let everyone dismiss whatever votes they think are invalid? Please choose a staff member who is neutral in the situation to decide what's okay and what isn't, don't just give the right to anyone.

Sorry if that came off as angry/rude, I don't like sounding mean. So, I'll throw in some compliments :D I like your character, she looks cool. You're doing an awesome job running the wiki, it'd be great if the other admins were so active and helpful to new users, have a good day/night! Likes-That-Tail (talk) 07:19, June 16, 2014 (UTC)

[1] [2]

EmporerJohnson, In private messaging, after ebing released from his ban, trying to ge tme to ban someone to make it "even",  attempting to corrupt a mod, and insults, making his argument in that topic invalid. By giving him the power to remove votes (Without you even looking over them, to busy with ESO, eh?) that was an EXTREME misuse of power on your behalf, and it has caused more trouble than any single user on chat is worth. I expect to talk to you fairly soon, EbonySkyrim Solitude Guard (talk) 19:51, June 16, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Re: Three Questions

1. The pictures sometimes show pictures that have nothing to do with TES (e.g. A picture of Finn the Dog I saw a couple days ago.) The glitch seems to be fixed if you just refresh a couple of times, but other users that visit the page will still have the problem.

2. Thanks! I'll look into those pages.

3. It's a little bit late to declare that there can't be anymore mods, considering that I had already practically won the consensus when it was closed and declared void. If you thought there were enough mods, then the page should have been closed before I was nominated. However, since the page wasn't closed, and I was nominated, and I did get enough support, I believe I should be given the promotion. I agree that there are way too many chat mods (especially ones that don't moderate well) however, the consensus was passed, and the users have voted. Not giving my rights makes the consensus system look like a joke.

I'm really sorry that this has been so much more difficult than it needed to be. You're right, people do blow this way out of proportion. They're building mountains out of molehills, you know? But it has angered many users that you just blatantly disregarded a consensus. If you think there are too many moderators, shouldn't we be removing the ones that we don't need, instead of just ignoring consensuses? Likes-That-Tail (talk) 21:22, June 16, 2014 (UTC)

Thank you! I actually has the support of every chat mod but three (excluding Pink Slim/Jett Cyber) and it bothered me that EJ thought that mod votes were invalid. Thanks for giving me my rights, and thanks for looking into the situation deeper. You should drop by in chat and check on the mods too, I mean, having an admin there would cut down on confusion of what mods are and aren't active. Once again, I'm sorry this was so confusing and difficult, but thank you for sorting it out. Likes-That-Tail (talk) 21:33, June 16, 2014 (UTC)
