Editing practices

Why was what the user TheInfamousLyingHarlot added to the Lieutenant Salvarus page considered irrelevant? She added precise information of the location of Lieutenant Salvarus. It may not be worded perfectly, but that is no reason to deem it irrelevant. We welcome all editors here and no one is going to make a perfect edit. Also, in the future I would ask that you not insult or use vulgar language in the edit summaries to anyone. Edit summaries are meant to let other editors know what you edited, not for issuing petulant comments. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 05:15, May 9, 2013 (UTC)

To be perfectly honest, I can't remember my rationale behind that particular edit. I've reviewed it and simply can't come up with a reasonable answer, with the possible exception that it was meant for another article but, in my haste, seemed to be added to the correct one. I don't normally act like such an ass, but I will certainly use more discretion in the future. - Erik the Mad (talk) 02:59, June 4, 2013 (UTC)

Why have you reverted my recent edit to the Trolls(Skyrim) page? 76.16.108.117 02:26, September 4, 2013 (UTC)

Re:Trivia

Nope, stuff like that is irrelevant. Jimeee (talk) 18:39, June 5, 2013 (UTC)

That's what I thought. Thanks for the help. - Erik the Mad (talk) 18:44, June 5, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Vandalism

Got it. Thanks for reverting it, too ;) Kroq-gar78 (talk) 04:44, June 8, 2013 (UTC)

Why did you remove the "in Skyrim" phrase from Haldir's Cairn? Every article begins with that ("XXX is a YYY in Skyrim"), which I think is a useful way to distinguish these articles from those about other Elder Scrolls games. Also, you left the sentence nbadly formed ("...is a cave located and the final resting..."). Cubears (talk) 03:34, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

That's just the way things are done around here. I'm not entirely sure why, though I think it has something to do with the fact that it always lists the game at the bottom of the page under 'Appearances' and is considered redundant. - Erik the Mad (talk) 05:29, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

Tamriel

Erik you keep putting back up the edit on the Tamriel article in which you say Tamriel is 12 million square kilometers but you have absolutely no evidence to say such a thing. There are no references within the Elder Scrolls that would specifically say the size of Tamriel. I left a discussion on the talk page of the Tamriel which you could rspond to if you have evidence that Tamriel is in fact 12 million square kilometers. If your going to say something and present it as fact then at least back it up with fact. NewYorker1350 (talk)

Is this some sort of feeble attempt at a joke? - Erik the Mad (talk) 22:29, June 16, 2013 (UTC)

Why are you editing all my pages? Did i do something wrong? (Koekie715 (talk) 17:30, June 24, 2013 (UTC))

Removing game from lead

Hi Erik, please stop removing the game from the lead at this point. There has not yet been decided if this should be done. It was removed from the NPC templates and a few other templates but it was never said it was to be done on all articles. We have been talking about this in the forum Thread:286548#14. Please wait for a decision for the time being. :) EbonySkyrim (talk) 19:47, June 27, 2013 (UTC)

Are you sure that Thalmor Agent Sanyon and the cannable named Sanyon are the same person? Does he suggest it during Namira? Could you please let me know what you know about it? Thanks

Emchartreuse (talk) 14:09, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

Sanyon

The Thalmor Agent named Sanyon was linked to Namira's Sanyon and I just wanted to clarify to readers that they are not the same person as far as we know (unless you know something differently). Is there a reason why my statement was not appropriate? It simply clarified that there's another Sanyon in the game.

Emchartreuse (talk) 14:22, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

I don't understand; he's a named NPC with a piece of lore cannon on his body. Why wouldn't he have a page? I'm still learning how things work here so I could use constructive advice. Seriously, why wouldn't this NPC have a page?

Emchartreuse (talk) 17:27, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

There are pages for many dead NPCs, some of them don't even have names. This is for an unmarked location and fans of finding unmarked locations want this sort of information. He has a name, he has written orders from a major character in the game, he's at an important unmarked location, and he has a story that's interesting and funny. Just leave me to it, okay? —This unsigned comment is by Emchartreuse (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Removed category

Crazy131 (talk) 16:35, July 9, 2013 (UTC) hey why do keeping removing my category's

The Liberation of Skyrim Page

The Liberation of Skyrim page is incorrect. The Battle for Fort Sungard has nothing to do with the Rift, and is linked to the point above it that involves the liberation of the Reach. It is redundent to add that the Rift is reclaimed next when it is listed under the numbered points the various forts that can be taken if Season Unending has been completed.

The article should be revised so that The Battle for Fort Sungard is linked to the step that involves The Reach. Any mention of the Rift should be linked to Fort Greenwall, not Sungard. Also, why mention only the Rift? Both the Pale and Winterhold can also be given to the Imperials in Season Unending, thus are also potentially in need of liberating.

In conclusion - that section of the page is potentially confusing and in need of cleaning up. Please edit it yourself or do not change corrections to that page. Cheers. —This unsigned comment is by 2.27.46.153 (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

You sure whine a lot. - Erik the Mad (talk) 22:51, July 16, 2013 (UTC)

The Above

The post about the Liberation of Skyrim page was my only post...so I've whined once. I'm changing the page to something more clear. If you want to change it back it's your choice, but I don't see why you would. Surely this Wiki is about giving people clear and correct information? My edit does that.—This unsigned comment is by 2.27.46.153 (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

You gonna stop crying any time soon? I don't appreciate it when people piss all over my page for no reason. - Erik the Mad (talk) 23:05, July 16, 2013 (UTC)

Yep

Seriously dude? Fine, we're done here.

Tone

Erik, on this wiki we use friendly language. Everyone has a right to edit here and if anyone has a problem with anyones edits, use friendly talk and not condescending remarks. You do a lot of reverts on others edits but you hardly ever explain why. Please do not argue when those editors come and ask why, explain in a friendly matter instead. Thank you.. EbonySkyrim (talk) 07:08, July 17, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not even going to bloody start with what your problem is, Erik. You're just another keyboard warrior. Draven Mephilés of Faerûn (talk) 22:32, July 17, 2013 (UTC)

You have serious issues, dude.  Why don't you explain what YOUR problem is? - Erik the Mad (talk) 23:52, July 17, 2013 (UTC)

Berit's Ashes

Hi Erik, I just saw your edit of 6th of May on the page Berit's Ashes where you removed the part "It is not known why it lies here." with the comment "Yes, because it's just SO weird to find alchemical reagents in alchemy laboratories....". I just wanted to say that it IS weird that it lies there and imho it was normal that the first named sentence was placed there. Since Berit's Ashes is normally a quest item which can only be found during that quest in Falkreath and suddenly it appears in Volkihar Castle. That is weird, right? Skyrim gold skeleton

i did find so way put dealt to my page 2 Gold skeleton skyrim —This unsigned comment is by BR4DD3RS09 (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Could you repeat that in English? - Erik the Mad (talk) 21:28, July 18, 2013 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure he/she means, "I did find, so why did you put delete on my page Gold skeleton skyrim i saw" Also, Erik, there's no need to be so condescending when answering. You could've said "I don't understand. Can you please reword it?" Kroq-gar78 (talk) 21:36, July 18, 2013 (UTC)
I wasn't trying to be condescending - that was a legitimate question. - Erik the Mad (talk) 21:38, July 18, 2013 (UTC)
Regardless, I, personally, don't believe you, BR4DD3RS09, and have deleted the page. I've never heard of a gold skeleton, and, after some searching, I haven't found any other reports either. Kroq-gar78 (talk) 21:43, July 18, 2013 (UTC)

My theory is that he's either a troll or just very confused and thought a normal skeleton was somehow made of gold, as they do have a somewhat yellow tinge to them.... - Erik the Mad (talk) 21:44, July 18, 2013 (UTC)

I'm going with that he's not a troll and is confused. Kroq-gar78 (talk) 21:46, July 18, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Mogrul

It's not relevant but it is trivia since it means that the same name was used twice between two add-ons for one game. If you don't agree with me or have further questioning, please ask and admin about it.

Thank you.

AutoBlood Talk 21:37, July 18, 2013 (UTC)

So why did you undo my edit to Forbidden Legend at 2:32 on July 15th? I was trying to (a) make the headings match the quest goals, and (b) correct the informal tone (second person, etc.) problems. I put a lot of time into those edits. If you don't like what I did, please tell me why, otherwise I'm going to assume that your undo was a mistake. Cubears (talk) 14:46, July 20, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Trivia questions

Hello,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. About the pie, can you give the article so I can have some context? To be honest, I didn't know what a crosata was until you told me, but four links (again, depending on what they are) are probably unnecessary.

I'm talking to TombRaiser right now about Mogrul, so I'll get back to you on that. Kroq-gar78 (talk) 01:08, July 24, 2013 (UTC)

Ok, it looks like we've decided to not have it in the trivia of Mogrul (Dawnguard). We're going to put it in the For template and word the template as such: For the character in Dragonborn, see Mogrul (Dragonborn).
If there are more than two characters with the same name, then we instead link it to the disambig page: For other characters with the same name, see Mogrul. I used Mogrul again here since I don't know of any cases of this...
Anyway, hope that cleared it up. Kroq-gar78 (talk) 01:32, July 24, 2013 (UTC)
I see. I removed all of the Wikipedia links on those three pages except the link to crostata. Is that a little better, or do you see a problem in the trivia being the same in all three articles? Kroq-gar78 (talk) 18:29, July 24, 2013 (UTC)
No problem seen.  It wasn't really a problem in the first place, actually.  I just thought it was very odd and maybe a little irrelevant, and was curious as to what, if anything, should be done with all those links.  I probably should have just removed them myself, now that I think of it.... - Erik the Mad (talk) 18:31, July 24, 2013 (UTC)
Heh, it's fine. Personally, I see the crostata link as being useful, but that's the only one. Kroq-gar78 (talk) 18:35, July 24, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Appearances

Hello Erik,

Currently, we have no "firm" decision on what to do with the template. Eganogard has already raised this question, and I think it's about time we get a definite answer. I'll talk it over today with Tomb. In the meantime, can you tell me which user it is so I may tell them to stop? Kroq-gar78 (talk) 16:29, August 2, 2013 (UTC)

Nevermind, I wasn't sure earlier, but now I think you're talking about Crazy131. I'll send him a message. Kroq-gar78 (talk) 16:48, August 2, 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I was referring to him.  He seems to make a lot of.... interesting edits.  I've had to remove more than a few pointless links added by him, like the one to the page for Chief Yamarz on the page for Chief Yamarz. - Erik the Mad (talk) 16:59, August 2, 2013 (UTC)

Please let me know why you undid my post on the dwemer metal.

Thank you.

Consensus about "1st" template

Hello Erik, I saw your discussion between a few members about this, if you're interested in leaving your feedback, I have set up a consensus on phasing out the use of the template. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 00:15, August 3, 2013 (UTC)

Roggvir

Hello, I believe that Roggvir actually is a member of the Stormcloaks, because, even though he not officially a member of that faction in the Skyrim Creation Kit, though from his background I would say he's a member of the Stormcloaks, because he helped them out so much during the Torygg incident.

Sincerely, Ned1230 (talk) 16:17, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

That's nice, but you can believe that all you want - it still doesn't make him a member. - Erik the Mad (talk) 16:20, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

Alright, I see your point, this wiki is completely official, and all sources must have sources from the CK, not from your own head.  Also, it's true I shouldn't inflict my own opinions on others on a public wiki, unless it's my own.

Thanks, Ned1230 (talk) 16:24, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

Oh yeah I hope I didn't sound stuck up.

Vigilance

Thanks for correcting my edit on the beast stone, but why did you have to completely undo the edit i had made for vigilance? I deleted a certain section as i thought it was no longer necessary after patch 1.6

Ahappydragon (talk) 17:24, August 24, 2013 (UTC)

Not everyone has the patch - therefore, it's still useful to some people. - Erik the Mad (talk) 17:51, August 24, 2013 (UTC)

Durn in Blackreach

Hello there Eric. I wasn't signed in when I reverted the edit. But as I said, I don't think it's worth while mentioning Durn when he can be summoned in some indoor areas. Try calling him in Palace of the Kings. just as long as he has enough room to be called, he will appear. I still think it isn't worth mentioning LeeVEGETA talk 19:57, August 27, 2013 (UTC)

Edit war

Stop the edit war with MistBreaker. Both of you are wrong about the correct base value. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 20:49, August 27, 2013 (UTC)

That's funny, seeing as how that's what it is when I look at the stats in the game. - Erik the Mad (talk) 20:50, August 27, 2013 (UTC)

Without any perks? This can easily be cleared up with a look in the data files. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 20:51, August 27, 2013 (UTC)

No perks, no items, no other buffs.  Those are the base costs as presented in my game. - Erik the Mad (talk) 20:52, August 27, 2013 (UTC)

Either way, I'm going to double check. The base stats are what the CK will reveal. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 20:53, August 27, 2013 (UTC)

Are you following what I do on Wikia?

Excuse me, but at this point, I think you might be having an edit war with me for no reason whatsoever.  Why? What did I do? Look in Vesuius' book on the owners of the shards of the razor.  On Drascua's it said she was the daughter of somebody named Cairine.  I didn't say she WAS the daughter of Cairine (probably not), I said she was the daughter of A Cairine.  I have also noticed you reverting other edits of mine.

I know I'm paranoid.  Ned1230 (talk) 22:48, August 27, 2013 (UTC)

Yep, you're paranoid. - Erik the Mad (talk) 22:49, August 27, 2013 (UTC)

umadbro Draven Mephilés of Faerûn (talk) 06:34, August 31, 2013 (UTC)

Both of you, stop. The lack of communication between the two of you isn't helping much. Erik, Draven has split the article. Though it's not perfect, why do you keep restoring the information? Kroq-gar78 (talk) 06:35, August 31, 2013 (UTC)
Because it still seems like valid information. - Erik the Mad (talk) 06:37, August 31, 2013 (UTC)
Maybe. Currently, we don't have pages for creatures that are cumulative of all of the games, so that page really shouldn't exist. I've temporarily locked the page; it should unlock within a day. Leave the information on Mudcrab for now, but Mudcrab (Skyrim) should be the focus for improvement. Thanks. Kroq-gar78 (talk) 06:41, August 31, 2013 (UTC)
I'm keeping an eye on it for that very reason, like most pages. - Erik the Mad (talk) 06:42, August 31, 2013 (UTC)

Way of the voice

Was it really necessary to undo my edit on the way of the voice? you didn't even try to replace it. Ahappydragon (talk) 17:56, September 3, 2013 (UTC)

It is obvious that the Greybeards would try to adhere to the Way of the Voice as closely as possible, while it is pure speculation that the Dragonborn would do the same, as the very purpose of a role-playing game is to do whatever you damn well please.  Also, there's not really too much clear information on Ulfric following those traditions and, given his behaviour, one would tend to get the impression that he cares very little, if at all, for them. - Erik the Mad (talk) 18:02, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
Some parts of Ahappydragon's edit was relevant, it just needed reworded. Please consider this next time rather than doing a straight undo. Jimeee (talk) 18:45, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
I did consider it.  Apparently, I was just wrong about those parts.  I don't just completely revert something unless I think there's nothing that can be saved and/or changed. - Erik the Mad (talk) 19:01, September 3, 2013 (UTC)

Edit war

You need to stop edit warring with other users. If you are unsure about the accuracy of an edit, rather than remove the contribution how about asking the editor or bring it up on the talk page? The whole thing on Illusion Ritual Spell could have been easily avoided if you just asked the editor or left a comment in your revisions. And what's worse is it turns out that user is actually correct - you can get any tome.

You did the same thing on The Way of the Voice page, and it turned out the info the editor added was valid. Use the talkpages.

Jimeee (talk) 16:39, September 6, 2013 (UTC)

How is it possible that you can get any tome completing the quest but that is the only one he doesn't sell afterwards? - Erik the Mad (talk) 16:42, September 6, 2013 (UTC)
Well if there is any uncertainty, a "confirmation needed" template should be added to the page - I will admit I am also going by memory and I cannot check ingame myself right now. I'm confident another user will be able to clear it up quickly. Assume good faith. Jimeee (talk) 16:51, September 6, 2013 (UTC)
So, once again, you're telling me that I just happen to have a copy of the game that's different from every other one on the planet. - Erik the Mad (talk) 16:52, September 6, 2013 (UTC)
Once again? No idea what you mean by that. Jimeee (talk) 17:06, September 6, 2013 (UTC)
I'm just getting a little tired of my game giving me messed-up info for no discernable reason. - Erik the Mad (talk) 17:10, September 6, 2013 (UTC)
If you're talking about giving different base values for items and spells, that's because it can't be measured using a console version of the games. Kroq-gar78 (talk) 22:26, September 6, 2013 (UTC)
Well, that explains a lot. - Erik the Mad (talk) 22:31, September 6, 2013 (UTC)

Colovian Brandy/brandy

I'm curious, on the Colovian Brandy page, why did you change half the instance of "Brandy" to "brandy", but left the other half unchanged? DRAEVAN13 22:37, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

It's not always easy trying to edit six pages at once.  I gues I just missed it. - Erik the Mad (talk) 22:42, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

Also, why change the "B" to miniscule? In both Oblivion and Skyrim, it's capitalised. DRAEVAN13 22:47, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

Fox and rabbit are often capitalized, too, but that doesn't make it right. - Erik the Mad (talk) 22:49, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

I meant that the item is capitalised in-game. DRAEVAN13 22:53, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

It doesn't necessarily need to be on the wiki, though. - Erik the Mad (talk) 22:58, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

Huh. Well, I guess we're going to have to change every single beverage article, since they all use that format. DRAEVAN13 23:19, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

Just on this point - my understanding is that 'Colovian Brandy' is the actual brand name for the beverage, and therefore both words should be capitalised (like it is in-game). That's opposed to it being 'brandy FROM Colovia' which would justify a small 'b'. Doesn't bother me either way, as both arguments could be made and justified. It just seems like a lot of work for something we're unsure of - Slightly Amazing (talk) 20:42, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

I'll ask one of the Admins for verification. DRAEVAN13 20:54, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

So for future reference, according to the Admins, you spell items as they appear in game, i.e Colivian Brandy, not Colovian brandy. DRAEVAN13 18:28, September 11, 2013 (UTC)

Uh.... That's nice? - Erik the Mad (talk) 18:29, September 11, 2013 (UTC)

No need to get snarky, I was just pointing out something you stated about editing was false. That's all. DRAEVAN13 18:41, September 11, 2013 (UTC)

Would have been nice if you could have done that without trying to start an argument.  One quick question to an admin and a message about the answer is all it takes.  Erik the Mad (talk) 18:44, September 11, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not trying to start an argument. I asked an Admin, he/she responded, I'm informing you of the response. That's it. DRAEVAN13 18:51, September 11, 2013 (UTC)

Deleting info as speculation

Hi Erik,

Why did you remove my trivia edit to the sword, Eduj?

I know you're saying it's speculation, but so is every Easter Egg in this game.

The 'Notched pick axe' page has two pieces of 'speculation' (by your standards) with less concrete points than my edit. (Sorry about the double post, I'm still getting used to the wiki) Slightly Amazing (talk) 23:27, September 9, 2013 (UTC)Slightly Amazing

Every Easter egg is most certainly not speculation.  Your edit, however, clearly was. - Erik the Mad (talk) 23:40, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

That's simply your opinion, friend. I provided two solid reference points in my argument, and you're simply saying I'm wrong with no evidence of your own. I'm going to re add my edit until you can come back to me with an argument that isn't 'you're wrong' or until a higher authority decides my edit is pure speculation - Slightly Amazing (talk) 23:50, September 9, 2013 (UTC)Slightly Amazing

And that's your opinion.  It's still speculation  - Erik the Mad (talk) 00:10, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

Nevermind, TombRaiser explained to me why it was wrong. Sorry for the inconvenience. Fobarimperius (talk) 03:25, November 17, 2013 (UTC)

Not a problem, dude. - Erik the Mad (talk) 18:15, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

Edit reasons

I'm pretty sure you have been told about this before, but:

 1. Stop starting revert wars with every editor when they make a bad edit. Let them know on their talkpage and contact an admin.
 2. When reverting, you need to give a reason. Just clicking the "Undo" button and providing no reason whatsoever as to why the edit is being reverted is both annoying and unhelpful to other editors.

I don't think this needs to be said any more times and you need to start assuming good faith in other people's edits, rather than clicking the Undo button every single time. What happened to using talkpages ? --Speysider Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 19:02, December 18, 2013 (UTC)

I'll ignore your unwarranted hostility, but all I'll say on this matter is that I sometimes forget to do so.  Nobody's perfect, buddy. - Erik the Mad (talk) 20:16, December 18, 2013 (UTC)
While you have a point Speyside, as I mentioned in chat, we need to interact civilly with each other. Arguing and flinging personal attacks resolves nothing. Let's swallow our pride and say what needs to be said in a polite and diplomatic manner. Butterflies and rainbows aside, Spey is right, Erik. Whenever an edit is reverted, please mention why in the edit summary window. If you suspect the editor will not see the reasoning behind the reversion, or if you have the roll back tool, we ask that the revert template be left on the offending editor's talk page, with the article name being the header. Ensure that you link to it as well. If you have any questions about this, Erik, or if a user is resisting multiple attempts at communication and continuing an edit war, please report that to an admin either on their talk page, in the fora, or on the chat. We would be glad to handle any escalated issues. Happy editing. Talos guide you, shadow hide you. --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 20:57, December 18, 2013 (UTC)

Excuse me could you give me a valid reason for reverting my post ,Durnehviir may have been around in the Merethic Era & before but he did get trapped in the Soul Carin during the early First Era , therefore would be more informative to that as his time period on Durnehviir page than pointless infomation about the Dragon War & the Merethic Era Halo 2 Legend (talk) 22:05, December 18, 2013 (UTC)

I mean no offense, but I can't make any sense out of your comment.  - Erik the Mad (talk) 22:29, December 18, 2013 (UTC)
Halo, you said: "Durnehviir may have been around in the Merethic Era & before..." to me, this suggests the reverted edit is speculation. If we cannot prove this claim with an in-game book, in-game dialogue, or another third-party reliable sources such as an article written at The Imperial Library, the edit cannot be put into the article. Here, we strive to only offer information that is verifiable. Speculation and conjecture are not permitted in the mainspace. Save that for blogs. Silver Sword in Castle Volkihar

I know I've found one inside the castle, because I've never done the companions questline before.  I can't exactly remember where, but the wiki section "Silver Weapons" mentions that a sword IS in Castle Volkihar (which I already knew), and that it's possibly next to the Vampire Royal Armor (although it could just be saying that one can find a sword AND the armor, not necessarily right next to each other; the sentence structure is a bit iffy).  Do you have the Dawnguard DLC? PC or console?  I know it exists in Castle Volkihar, but I'd really rather not have to go through the entire questline again just to prove it.  If you have it on PC, could you port yourself into the castle through the path on that quest and look around? Foxi Hooves (talk) 23:42, December 18, 2013 (UTC)

I have the DLC on the Xbox.  I once tossed the whole castle in search of a weaponised fork that turned out to be a lie (at the time, at least - it may have been confirmed since then) and do not recall finding a silver sword (which would have been fairly notable).  I'm not saying you're wrong - I'm saying that evidence is needed to back up such claims, though the burden of proof tends to bear your claims.  Give me a location and I'll whip up a new file to seek it out.  Otherwise, it's a baseless claim as far as I'm concerned.  - Erik the Mad (talk) 03:40, December 19, 2013 (UTC)
After cross referencing other wikia pages and sifting through "Let's Play" videos (not an incredibly reliable source, I know), I've since added the information back to the page, seeing how all of those players saw the sword sitting on the shelf above the Vampire Royal Aarmor.  I did so because it would seem incredibly silly and pointless to create a mod that simply puts a silver sword there, of all places.  Should I wait on your playthrough, or is this good evidence?Foxi Hooves (talk) 05:49, December 19, 2013 (UTC)
Iirc, I also remember seeing a silver sword there. It makes sense too, given Harkon hate for werewolves. In this situation, rather than remove the location in the castle, add the "Verification Needed" template if you really are unsure.  Jimeee (talk) 06:08, December 19, 2013 (UTC)

Gold question

How did you make the gold symobl in the edit page. Batrada (talk) 01:50, December 22, 2013 (UTC)Batrada

Just type , except with a G in the middle. - Erik the Mad (talk) 01:51, December 22, 2013 (UTC)
Still learning how to edit but i think i may nominate you for a patroller once you get the 500 edits as you've been helpful to me. Batrada (talk) 01:54, December 22, 2013 (UTC)Batrada
I appreciate the thought, but I think it may be a little early for that.  Feel free to ask for help any time, though. - Erik the Mad (talk) 01:58, December 22, 2013 (UTC)
Ok glad to know that i have someone helping. Batrada (talk) 02:01, December 22, 2013 (UTC)Batrada
How do you nominate a page for deletion, just wondering how incase i stumble upon a irrelvant or unnescasary article. Batrada (talk) 22:03, December 23, 2013 (UTC)Batrada
There is actually a panel for templates on the right side of the editing screen, which may be used to add any template you need.  Also, try to refrain from adding words like 'you' and 'player' to articles and instead simply say 'Dragonborn' or 'they' or 'one.'  I've noticed you've been doing that a lot, lately. - Erik the Mad (talk) 22:07, December 23, 2013 (UTC)

thalmor dispute

what the hell is your problem? why are you editting my work? I've provided in-game citation and the people I added are classified in the game files as being members notable or not

Reasons

Hello...

The reason why I undid your undo was because it could have been a legitimate claim, which is why I don't understand why you rolled it back the first time.

If you disagree with my decision, and you have a legit reason to undo it please use this or my talk page. Hero by day, devious-psychopath by night, (talk) 03:27, December 27, 2013 (UTC)RougeHero

I reverted it because I knew what that editor was referring to, and it's not a bug - it's a part of the quest. - Erik the Mad (talk) 03:30, December 27, 2013 (UTC)

Durnehviir quote

Does he say "dov"? Have you confirmed it? These are the moments in which my memory betrays me. —Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 01:47, December 29, 2013 (UTC)

I'm checking righ t now.  I still have a backup save from a little before I entered the Soul Cairn for the frst time.  I'm fairly certain it was dov, as I seem to recall he said something that stood out as unusual. - Erik the Mad (talk) 01:49, December 29, 2013 (UTC)

Well, crap.  It was a save from just after starting Scroll Scouting.  This could take a while, but I'm working on it, since every video of Durnehviir's dialogue I can find is from after completing Dragon Rising. - Erik the Mad (talk) 01:58, December 29, 2013 (UTC)

Alright. I'll leave the article as it is now until we have a confirmation. —Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 02:00, December 29, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry I took so long to get back to you on this.  I only get so many opportuinities for a vacation in my job, and I like to take full advantage of them.  Anyway, it turns out he does say 'dovah.'  I remember why I thought he said something weird, though (reminded of an in-joke at work).  I guess I'll go correct that, now, assuming it hasn't already been done. - Erik the Mad (talk) 22:50, February 2, 2014 (UTC)

Help with my Wiki

I could use some help getting users on my wiki and i could also use help editing a devloping it. Click on my website on my talk page. Rude edit summary

I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't be RUDE to me in your edit summary. Say why you revered it, and move on. I only removed it because it wasn't confirmed, which I'm pretty sure is stated in the Bugs template that all bugs should be confirmed before adding them to the page first. —KruziikrelSummon 23:31, February 2, 2014 (UTC)

Excuse me?  I was by no means rude. - Erik the Mad (talk) 23:32, February 2, 2014 (UTC)

Yes you were. And from the looks of your talk page, it's nothing new. —KruziikrelSummon 23:34, February 2, 2014 (UTC)

It's clear you're the only one being rude, here, so I'm going to ignore you until you have something meaningful to say. - Erik the Mad (talk) 23:35, February 2, 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, whatever, have it your own way. Anyway, you made no mention to what I said about the reason I removed it, which was because if it's not confirmed it shouldn't be added. —KruziikrelSummon 23:41, February 2, 2014 (UTC)

That's better.  And by the way, I did mention why I reverted it.  Who's to say it was never confirmed?  As I said before, just because you have not experienced it personally does not exclude its occurence for other players. - Erik the Mad (talk) 23:45, February 2, 2014 (UTC)

"That's better?" Come on now. That little confirmation needed next to that line of text is what makes it not confirmed. —KruziikrelSummon 23:50, February 2, 2014 (UTC)

I've explained this twice, now.  I'm starting to think you're just trying to start a fight. - Erik the Mad (talk) 23:54, February 2, 2014 (UTC)

The standard method to deal with bugs is to put them on the talk page first. Only if they are confirmed should they be added to the page. Jimeee (talk) 00:40, February 3, 2014 (UTC)
That's usually what I do, but when someone claims a bug is 'untrue' simply because they've never seen it occur is another matter.  All he needed to do was add the citation rather than remove information that could very well be valid. - Erik the Mad (talk) 00:47, February 3, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Shor's Stone

Writing The Rift is misuse of proper wiki syntax. In future, simply use The Rift, as the pipe character is only meant to be used to display different text (eg starts the appropriate quest), not to bypass the linking system. --Speysider Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 18:37, February 5, 2014 (UTC)

Then it was an honest mistake.  I edit in visual mode, but I'll keep that in mind for the future.  Just sounds a little harsh when you put it like that. - Erik the Mad (talk) 18:40, February 5, 2014 (UTC)
The visual editor is crap, always edit in source mode so that your using the proper markup syntax. I can come across as blunt but it's meant to help in improving edits and it's not meant to sound harsh. Also, when someone leaves a message on your talkpage, it's better to respond on their talkpage so they'll get a notification, rather than responding on your own talkpage which they may or may not notice. :) --Speysider Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel

Undo Spamming

Hey I've noticed that you've been spamming the Undo button when you edit the mainspace pages. Please stop, the undo button is there to quickly revert a vandalized page, not to undo every single edit that you may not instantly see the value in. All this does is get people angry and start edit wars, in addition to removing information that could make the page better. For example, Harold's edit on the Paarthurnax page was fine, yet you still undid it because it was "redundant". Just please stop doing that. I am Sylar (talk) 16:58, February 7, 2014 (UTC)
Erik, you are using it way too frequently. Just because it was mentioned once in another paragraph doesn't mean it's worthless on the page, the edit Harold made worked with the sentence well. This isn't the first time that I've seen you do this, when I edited the Asbjorn Fire-Tamer page, you undid my edit that was meant to clarify what he was good at. We need to make sure the pages are as clear as possible, yet you undid it. So please just cut it down with that, you only need to use it when someone makes a completely irrelevant edit, or vandalizes the page. Thanks. I am Sylar (talk) 18:25, February 7, 2014 (UTC)

Reverting and edit summaries

Just to let you know, when you undo someones edit, it's important that you use the edit summary to address the reason it was reverted, and not the editor that made the edit. Everyone makes mistakes, so point them to the editing guidelines in a talk page message instead of calling them out in an edit summary. You should always assume good faith before jumping to conclusions. If you don't agree on something that was added, then you discuss it in the talk page of that article, or on the user's talk page, instead of taking it upon yourself that it is not needed.

Of course there are times that an edit is an obvious sign of vandalism. In those cases, you undo the edit, and in the edit summary, you simply write "Vandalism" or "Reverted Vandalism". There's no need to address anyone, even if it was vandalism. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 21:43, February 7, 2014 (UTC)

That is precicelsy what I did.  I clearly stated the reason for the revision.  I made no assumptions regarding good faith, though such assumptions were directed against myself.  I never made a claim of vandalism.  I gave a clear statement for my actions. - Erik the Mad (talk) 22:14, February 7, 2014 (UTC)
I'm not talking about just today. That goes for the edit summaries you left just a few days ago, and undoing edits without leaving an edit summary at all, such as this one. You could have written in the edit summary "Removed advice", instead of giving no explanation at all. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 22:50, February 7, 2014 (UTC)

Uncapping

Hey, can you please stop uncapping stuff in the articles. Most of the capitalization is there for a reason, like on the Daedric Sword page, since Daedric Sword is a specific thing, both words get capitalized, that also applies for other specific names on the Mainspace pages. So please don't do that anymore. Thanks. I am Sylar (talk) 22:34, February 9, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Badge Hunting

My apologies.

I have no idea what badge hunting is, I was just updating the page & kept finding goofs (made by myself) after I would post a change.

I will endeavor to only make a single post at a time by triple checking for mistakes prior to posting.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Really? I apologize then. I thought unbearingly was valid because the connotation in most instances where "bearing" appears can be associated with "tolerate". Apologies. —Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 23:31, February 18, 2014 (UTC)

VIP reports

Hey Erik, just came to say that you don't have to write "vandalised this page and this page" after the template bit. Just make it so CVU|Username|Pagename with on the sides and it'll work, no need for [[]] around the Pagename either :). Happy Editing! > Flugsmith ~ talk // contributions ~ 22:26, February 19, 2014 (UTC)

Well, if that actually worked, I would do it, but every time I try to write it like that, it shows up as a pile of crazy, incomprehensible code. - Erik the Mad (talk) 22:29, February 19, 2014 (UTC)
Oh right, well I don't know what to do in that situation. I guess you'll just have to continue the way you've been doing it. > Flugsmith ~ talk // contributions ~ 12:07, February 20, 2014 (UTC)
Erik, you add it like this 96.247.85.200 —EbonySkyrim Message! 12:58, February 20, 2014 (UTC)
I think I know what the problem is, now. I tried to add multiple pages, and that messed it all up. - Erik the Mad (talk) 16:42, February 23, 2014 (UTC)
