Why do you keep undoing my edits

Why do you keep undoing me editsis something wrong with themSkyrim9000 (talk) 03:23, May 27, 2014 (UTC)

I've looked at your edits, and they seemed to be quite redundant and unconstructive. It goes without saying using the console commands can mess up the game, they doesn't need to be stated on every article that brings it up, also don't say "you" or "I" when you're writing things, use second &/or thrid person nouns like The Player &/or The Dragonborn. Re: Removing the game from leads

Hi, yes Erik. It's still on and also on books. —EbonySkyrim Message! 06:09, May 28, 2014 (UTC)

Yes, there is no default lead on books either, it has been removed, and just above is a link to all books in each game. The only thing one might add if you feel like it, is a known location or if there is something special, like if it's involved in a quest or in a book series. No nead to add anything else. —EbonySkyrim Message! 15:48, May 28, 2014 (UTC)

I just added some locations to a couple book pages and you immediately edited them. Im not mad or anything, I'm just wondering what I did wrong so I won't make the same mistakes again. Thanks, DeltaFerret 02:28, May 31, 2014 (UTC)

Ok, just wondering. I have a small question though. For books, it seems that book locations that count as "stealing" aren't listed. Is there a reason for that, or is it just proper to have non-steal locations listed? Thanks, DeltaFerret 02:45, May 31, 2014 (UTC)

Enchanting xp and item values

I'm definitely getting the same amount of experience from enchants regardless of the item's value. The following image is my original xp level, my xp level after enchanting an iron dagger with Paralyze using a grand soul, and my xp after reloading and enchanting a legendary daedric warhammer with the same enchant and soul: q9h2n6I.png I do have the unofficial skyrim patch installed, could that be causing it...? --Big Bouffant (talk) 04:05, June 15, 2014 (UTC)

I uninstalled all of my mods, and after further testing, I've found that enchanting any item gives exactly 1 experience point, regardless of item value, enchant applied, or soul gem used. The console command "AdvSkill enchanting 1" can be used as reference. This can be easily confirmed in-game, and matches the information shown here. --Big Bouffant (talk) 15:25, June 15, 2014 (UTC)

De-capitalizing everything

Erik, I believe that your edits de-capitalizing everything are unproductive, because those things can be capitalized, as it doesn't matter much, and they fill up the edit box and are hard to check by administrators and patrollers. This type of thing is what got me falsely convicted of badgehunting a few months back. Just some constructive criticism, that's all. Sincerely (talk) 16:39, June 21, 2014 (UTC) (Ned1230)

Falsely? As I recall, the evidence against you was overwhelming. Besides, I've been told by an administrator that those things don't need to be capitalised, so I'm going with that. - Erik the Mad (talk) 16:42, June 21, 2014 (UTC)
User talk:Ned1230/Archive 2#Multiple edits Also they don't NEED to be capitalized. Means it doesn't matter. Sincerely (talk) 16:47, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, I got that. But I tend to ignore hypocrites. - Erik the Mad (talk) 16:55, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

Does that make what he is saying incorrect though? Zippertrain85 (talk) 16:57, June 21, 2014 (UTC)
Not necessarily. But when he goes on a category-adding spree in the space of about ten minutes then accuses someone else of doing the same, it's more than a little annoying, among other things. Besides, as I said, I'm going with advice from an administrator over a serial abuser of the wiki. - Erik the Mad (talk) 17:00, June 21, 2014 (UTC)
I guess you have a point, Ned does binge-edit more often than he should. :P If an Admin told you to do that, than it's different. I thought they thought it was acceptable either way. Zippertrain85 (talk) 17:04, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

Hey, sorry 'bout the last message I replaced this with. Just a friendly tip. However, I won't give you any tips again, just to let you know. Sincerely (talk) 18:46, June 22, 2014 (UTC)
You never gave me any tips in the first place. You just projected your own problems onto someone else, as usual. - Erik the Mad (talk) 19:53, June 22, 2014 (UTC)

Edit

"It was referring to the fact that this is the first game in which they have a use"

Then that is what it needs to state. It does not state that, however, it says "they are the first appearance of butterflies in the Elder Scrolls series." which is factually incorrect. If it said "this is the first game in which they have a use" then I would have not edited the wiki. --107.133.100.96 20:17, June 25, 2014 (UTC)

RE

If you really think reporting will change anything, go right ahead. You're irrelevant to this wiki, anyway. I've heard many complaints about you already. Your favourite article did, by definition, contain a proper noun. Go back to school, kid. The Admins won't do a thing. They'll just send some ballant warning like they'd do with anyone else in my situation. Go learn the definition of "vandalism", kid. I'ma go on living like you never existed. --\m/O1s£@u±D£±N£1g£\m/ ( Awaken the somneling demon)

If I didn't have a reason to report you before, I certainly do, now.  Just don't forget that I tried to help you by posting links on your talk page that would have cleared things up had you not committed further vandalism by removing them without, I imagine, even trying to read them.  You don't get to remove stuff from your talk page, especially when it was intended to prevent a problem such as this - Erik the Mad (talk) 02:17, June 26, 2014 (UTC)

Vandalism in progress

Erik, hello. How are you? Long time, no see! What is going on here? I can tell by the reports you posted on the TES:VIP page that you seem quite upset by two separate users. I have done some investigating, but I find it unclear what the problem is. Since I am not fully certain a block is necessary for either user, I would greatly appreciate if you could explain for me exactly what happened, which users were involved which articles were involved, and what you expect me to do as an administrator to resolve it. I would love to part of the solution for you. Please get to me when you are available. :) --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 12:26, June 26, 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your detailed response. I decided to investigate this matter as I believed that many of our staff members were too personally involved to resolve the issue fairly. I believe that Skyrim deserves a mild, probationary block with links to our policy pages. This will prevent all editing from the user, until they have had a chance to severely inspect and practice what is written in our policy pages. I will leave their talk page unlocked, so that they might reach out for aid if they have serious questions. I do not think blocking Snowbird will resolve anything, as you also stated. I believe where we, as members of this community, failed with Snowbird is that we were not aware when we were interacting with them how our words might affect him. It is is difficult to remain diplomatic. Emotions are messy things. Trust me, I know all too well. I am a manager in the customer service field. It upsets me a great deal to see members of this community rivaling each other and even wanting to leave because they feel alienated or offended. I found refuge here when I was going through a very difficult part in my life, and I wanted to build this community up even stronger and leave a solid foundation upon which it could rest when I took my inevitable leave of absence. I feel like I have not fully achieved that, though I have to some extent. Thank you, again, for caring about this wiki enough to even report troublesome users, and I think it says much to your character to admit when and where you went wrong when it came to both scenarios. --—Deyvid Petteys (bother \ stalk) 22:00, June 26, 2014 (UTC)

Eye of Melka

On the edit of Eye of Melka I changed the weapon damage to 50... well simply because it's listed as 50 on my game and someone on the talk part of the page said it was 50 as well. I know you changed it back and am not sure if it shows up for 40 for you or is if there is a leveling system on this staff. If so this information needs to be included on that page, but as far as I know it shows 50 damage for me and others. Please let me know what you find out. Sincerly, Hades Executioner (talk) 06:03, July 2, 2014 (UTC)Hades Executioner

Perks

Do you think that perk information should be added to that page as well as additional information and to keep from further inquiring? I suspect I'm probably not the first or near the last to notice this change in damage due to this perk; I'm sorry for making the edit to the page without knowing all of the information. I'm new to this site and when I looked up the staff to see if it had any more special value then sitting in my chest I noticed the damage change and made the edit without further information. Best regards, Hades Executioner (talk) 06:18, July 2, 2014 (UTC)Hades Executioner

Amulet of Talos

You said Roggvir was a 'trader' instead of a 'traitor.'  That's not really correct.  That, and I already explained why I removed it: it was redundant. - Erik the Mad (talk) 05:13, July 4, 2014 (UTC)

What was wrong with my edit?

I made an edit on the "Madwoman" page with reference to a character from the borderlands series, Face Mcshooty. It was in the trivia section, and I'm betting it's relevant enough (Having played both games myself). In the same fashion that the Madwoman wishes to be hit with the wabbajack, he wants to be shot in the head. If it was a spelling mistake or grammar mistake, or I violated any wiki rules, it would be much appreciated if you would tell me first so that I could make the appropriate edits while keeping the information I added. --Java55555Obeseman (talk) 18:17, July 4, 2014 (UTC)

I understand that you think that my information is "ridiculous", however, it is not "obviously false". Assuming you haven't played the borderlands series, that is a reasonable claim. However, it is not false, and you can check on the borderlands wiki. I hope to resolve any dispute. Also, sorry for the edit. --Java55555Obeseman (talk) 22:03, July 7, 2014 (UTC)
Yes, it's obviously false.  Don't add baseless nonsense to the wiki for no reason. - Erik the Mad (talk) 06:26, July 8, 2014 (UTC)
Yes, it's likely not a reference for several reasons (I've played borderlands 2) - however, Eric, don't be so harsh when explaining things like this. It's not the first time someone has complained about your edit summaries. Please see the Etiquette policy. Jimeee (talk) 10:13, July 8, 2014 (UTC)

Why do you keep undoing edits?

Why did you change my edit to Illusion Destruction Ritual?  The data was wrong demonstrably wrong and I corrected it.  Yet you undid the change without explanation.  It looks like you have a history of doing this.  Why?  TheRealJoeWiki (talk) 09:10, July 6, 2014 (UTC)

I did explain it, so don't try to pretend otherwise. - Erik the Mad (talk) 15:19, July 6, 2014 (UTC)

There's no need to send me any more messages.

Hello. I saw you left a message on my talk page, and I'm confused, here. I already told you that I have stopped adding the links, in one of my edit summaries. You win. And also, I'm not the one with the large abuse log dating back to March 27, 2013. Editing links isn't a crime, so I don't know why you care so much. But, oh well. You can do or say whatever you want. Have a good day/night/whatever! :) --SweetskyTone (talk) 05:47, July 7, 2014 (UTC)

Quotations

I'm sorry I screwed up on the quotations on Sigurds page. What I was trying to do was add a quotation on the top of the page like a lot of the pages for NPCs do on Elder Scrolls wiki, but as you could see it didn't go so well. I'm new to editing pages so I will probably get the hang of it. Thank you though for cleaning up my mess. --Greeno200 (talk) 05:36, July 13, 2014 (UTC) Greeno200

Regarding Vilkas Edit

I've done extensive testing on both the sections I removed from Trivia and can prove he does NOT attack you if you attack innocent civilians or transforming into a werewolf. If you had seen the comment I left after editing, I suspect that one of the official patches at some point fixed or changed these issues. I don't know which one, and I encouraged others who may know to contribute to this. Likewise, at some point, Vilkas' essential tag IS removed and I've done testing on this too! Again, I don't know at what point it gets removed but it does, and again I invited others in my comment to contribute if they knew more about it. Please don't automatically jump to the conclusion that people make uninformed edits; I didn't appreciate the edit comment you left me considering the comment I left when I made the edit stating I had done testing on the things I removed. --Bluesonic1 (talk) 06:52, July 23, 2014 (UTC)

PLEASE stop removing my information!! I saw you removed my trivia addition to the Soul Gems page. That is LEGITIMATE information I am providing as a crystal enthusiast; if you wish to see photos of my aura quartz which I see the resemblance of Soul Gems in, I will be happy to provide! Note that I also wrote that inspiration MAY have come from these types of quartz; it's an interesting piece of information I feel people can take value from, particularly those artists who seek to re-create Skyrim scenes in real life. --Bluesonic1 (talk) 08:43, July 23, 2014 (UTC)

One-handed daggers

Hey Erik - all daggers are one-handed, so it's not necessary to add the "One-handed" qualifier for the Blade of Woe (Skyrim). I thought I would mention it here, rather than just revert it, in case you disagree. Cubears (talk) 04:10, July 24, 2014 (UTC)

What have I done this time? - Erik the Mad (talk) 20:20, July 30, 2014 (UTC)
You act incredibly hostile to just about everyone when they make any edits here. You don't seem to assume any kind of good faith in the editors here and assume that edits are somehow bad, despite the fact that assuming good faith is the point of a wiki. Plus, you also act arrogant, like the message above just displays: you have to understand that you are not always right and that other editors are helping to improve the wiki, instead of treating every edit as wrong, vandalism or an insult against you. Please try to calm down and stop taking everything like they're insults. --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 20:26, July 30, 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, I won't Erik. You can't stop people from messaging you on your talkpage. I felt it appropriate to reply, telling people to stay out of discussions is completely counter productive to the wiki and does not help to make editors want to confront you. --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | Tabber Code | Channel 20:30, July 30, 2014 (UTC)

Alchemy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_99A6qdi8Y Farengar's dialogue hints at some of it being part of magical studies. Not to mention it's one of the three skills that are located in the spaces between the signs.--Gobi-Aoi 18:43, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

Between signs

When you stop and look at the signs, you'll notice some skills are located exactly in the spaces between the signs. That also seems to bring some ambiguity, as the archery, for example, located between warrior and thief, benefits from the thief stone. I'm not sure if it benefits from warrior too, but in order and appearance in the menu (at least), the skills Alchemy, Archery and Enchanting stand between the nebulae.--Gobi-Aoi 19:04, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

How is Archery explained, then? Also, is there an official source that explains those skills? It'd be very clarifying. Gobi-Aoi 19:15, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

It still benefits from the thief stone though..Gobi-Aoi 19:26, October 24, 2014 (UTC)
It's a very convenient one though, since the bow is really good as a stealth weapon, even having a perk in Sneak. --Gobi-Aoi 20:08, October 24, 2014 (UTC)
Also true, although one could argue it's mostly focused on the practicality of a dagger. I mean, a good backstab with a dagger with some Sneak perks can work wonders. I like the fact that, in the order they're organized, all skills pass from one to the other smoothly, which I suppose is part of the design of the Skills screen, and the reason some end up looking ambiguous. They seem to avoid reminding the player of the older games' class system. --Gobi-Aoi 23:57, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Hevnoraak

  1. Because pagename is not a template, it is a MediaWiki magic word which should be confined to templates and there is zero reason to assume that the names of anything in a game released 3 years ago is suddenly going to be changed. And jfyi, I am using Subst: to substitute the magic word into the proper text.
  2. The information about Hevnoraak meaning brutality was given by an anon IP as a proper Dovahzul translation, I am simply standardising the dragon priest articles as some use full translation and others do not. --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | Tabber Code | My Contribs | Channel 18:23, October 26, 2014 (UTC)
No there is a reason: it doesn't belong there, magic words are meant primarily for use in templates, not placing everywhere. Plus, these names aren't changing so why have a magic word there that makes people assume that the article name will be changed? I'd understand if the game had just been released days ago and things might change, but Skyrim ain't changing any further from the latest update, so subst'ing the pagename magic word makes all sorts of sense for formatting. --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | Tabber Code | My Contribs | Channel 18:28, October 26, 2014 (UTC)

You keep undoing things that don't have to be undone!

Hey man, I know you want to keep this page clean, but do you have to correct everything I edited? I mean to edit the way of me describing something isn't something you'd have to correct! I find it really annoying of you thinking just to correct everything though I just explained things in a way they are easier to understand. And things like Draugr Scourge are usually capped (in my  Honed Ancient Nord Greatsword article I capped the enemies wielding this weapon). OK you corrected "This is" with "Tis" and that's ok I accept that I made a mistake just IF articles have been edited and have been "fine before" it's not a reason to undo it. So yeah now there will be: "This page is to edit serious mistakes, not little mistakes or explaining things different.", but give the beginners a chance please.

LuminHeavy (talk) 18:56, October 26, 2014 (UTC)

Reading over several of the comments on your talk page, I notice that there exists a pattern of you repeatedly making unconstructive and unnecessary reversions of other people's contributions to this Wikia. This falls in line with my own experiences with you thus far. As a friendly reminder, your behavior is wholly consistent with what the classical Wikipedia guidelines define as Wikihounding. I invite you to carefully read its definition.

Addendum: From this point forward, you will provide a clearly articulated rationale for every edit you revert, rather than throwing in expletives and rants in the edit summary as you've previously been doing. If such a rationale isn't forthcoming, your edit will be treated as purely disruptive in nature and be reverted immediately. If you attempt to instigate an edit war, you will be reported on the spot. Are we clear? 84.196.186.69 21:58, December 25, 2014 (UTC)
Why do you believe you actually deserve a response with that kind of attitude?  Stop harassing me for no reason. - Erik the Mad (talk) 22:02, December 25, 2014 (UTC)
Hey Erik, I have spoken with the anon about this as well, giving summaries like "WTF" or along those lines really aren't valid reversion summaries, & I would advise avoid doing this in the future to prevent further incidents like this from occurring. Please give more reasoning in your summaries, when making these types of edits or reversions from this point forward. Thank you. Ȼǿᵰᵮẽᵲ ₲ħǿśᵵ Ⱥᵰᵾᵬĭᵴ Đẽẽᵭᵴ 20:53, December 27, 2014 (UTC)
My bad, dude.  I was just a little confused as to why none of the changes I made went through on the first edit.  I'll keep that in mind for the future. - Erik the Mad (talk) 21:58, December 27, 2014 (UTC)

I don't know why it's considered Daedric, but it is.

You undid an edit of mine on auriel's bow which stated that it did count as a daedric artifact. The truth is I recieved the achivement for oblivion walker on steam right after recieving the bow, I still needed to get Oghama infinium for the achievement (if I cared about it, I was just playing the game for the lore which I have been into recently). I made the edit because I did get the oblivion walker achievement from the bow, either it was a glitch or the game is suppose to consider it a daedric item (which would be weird since Auriel is an aedra). Most likely it was unintended by Bethesda, but should still be added into the trivia page, or at least mentioned as a glitch.

Is there an easy way we can test this to see if it's considered a daedric weapon? I know Auriel is Aedra, and I know it could very well have been a glitch, but it still happened none the less.

Re: Bug confirmation

Hey Erik, you're correct that we don't take information from there. I think in regards to bug confirmations that bugs generally appear online other then just UESP, although that may not always be the case. Are there any other places online that confirm this bug, or just UESP? Ȼǿᵰᵮẽᵲ ₲ħǿśᵵ Ⱥᵰᵾᵬĭᵴ Đẽẽᵭᵴ 00:56, December 29, 2014 (UTC)

Re:Curalmil

Yeah ok, you're right, I just hate when people connect characters' names to something random. I had noticed my mistake after I published the edit, actually. It won't happen again.Ned Tp- Contribs  12:38, January 1, 2015 (UTC)

re: garlic

I haven't played Skyrim in a while so I wasn't aware. In future, I'd recommend you to actually make the effort to write summaries instead of using default ones for every revert that you make, it really isn't that difficult to write "Garlic's are sold by several vendors in the game" instead of just clicking "Removing false information": writing your own summary makes it more clear to other editors why you are removing it, instead of generalising with a default summary. --SuperSajuuk Talk Page | Tabber Code | My Contribs | Channel 17:34, January 2, 2015 (UTC)

My mistake

I actually didn't see you'd just removed that template, I clicked on it and saw the terrible image quality, I thought you'd reverted a grammar mistake or something. DRAEVAN13 18:23, January 7, 2015 (UTC)
