Re: Advisor program Edit
Hi Isaac, this is an interesting proposal and it's something that I've been working on integrating into our staff here for a while, in spirit if not in name. But before we commit to anything I do have a couple of questions about the program:
- I'm a little confused about who exactly is supposed to be an advisor/mentor. If the goal of the program is to teach people how to edit, I imagine an administrator would be the best person to speak to. But if the goal is to have someone who is "hip with the kids" then I imagine we'd specifically not want administrators serving in this capacity.
- Why is this centered around Discussions? Wiki editors, the only ones receiving welcome messages, will not really go on there in any substantial frequency, and Discussions users don't really have a reason to interact with the staff in this way (there isn't really the same kind of anxiety about posting that there is about editing).
- What would this card on Special:Dashboard look like? Would users be able to reach out to advisors privately?
