Nothing we remove is gone forever, it exists elsewhere on this Wiki (or it wouldn't be a duplication). :::::Everyone be cool and nice. The agreed policy we decided on was all tips and tricks absolutely don't belong on the article itself. It's true that some strategies exist on ''some'' talk pages - but this should be '''strongly discouraged''' - especially for future pages in ESO. I admit that I myself in one instance pointed people to post strategies on the talk page on the [[Ebony_Warrior#Strategies|Ebony Warrior page]], but this was the lesser of two evils at the time, because I knew for a fact people would fill up this page with a million strategies if I didn't. Going forward, this should not be the case. Doing so only encourages more people to add more content to these talk pages. Talk pages are supposed to deal with discussions about the article itself - how it can be improved, errors, etc. They should not be a place to dump all the tips and tricks. The forums exist for this very reason - and at the bottom of the article it has a giant "Discussions about Ebony Warrior" section that links directly to the forums - so there is no excuse anymore. Welcome, Ghost Anubis!

Skyrim Logo Large

Hello Ghost Anubis, welcome to the Elder Scrolls Wiki! We're building a collaborative source of information for The Elder Scrolls, and we need your help!

We saw you making some changes to our articles and thank you for it. We hope you choose to further this project, and we hope to see you around in the future. If you choose to stay, here are some links to help you out:

I hope you enjoy editing here! If you have any questions, see the help pages or ask one of our administrators.

Adding to profile

Of couse, ask away! Know now, though, that my profile went through various stages before it became what it is now, although that may just be because I'm extremely indecise... I'll try to answer any of your questions. —Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 22:24, January 25, 2014 (UTC)

You can find all userboxes here. To make them look a different way, select the userbox, then click on the "Edit" button and view the code. Find the text that appears in the userbox (example: "This user is knowledgeable about Skyrim") and change it to the way you want it to look (example: "This user knows a lot about Skyrim"), then copy and paste it on your profile. You can aslo copy the ones in my profile to see what it looks like and test things out. Hope this helps. —Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 22:59, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
Oh, and if you want the userbox to look normal, just write the userbox' name within two curly brackets (or something), like this: {{User-Skyrim}}, so it will flesh out removed infobox. Feel free to remove this userbox when you get the hang of it.—Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 23:08, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
There's really no problem, dude. I should be thanking the wiki for giving me something to do while my computer is broke. —Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 23:37, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
Sorry for my absence, I have the unbelievably inconstant internet to thank for that.... I looked at your profile and there's nothing malfunctioning, so I assume you already fixed it? —Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 02:34, January 26, 2014 (UTC)
OK, good. Feel free to say anything if you have any questions about source mode. —Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 03:04, January 26, 2014 (UTC)

Character images

Hi Ghost Anubis, I have edited your images you uploaded as we have a standard size for character images across all games if possible. I just wanted to let you know if you didn't know this. Also, if you upload more images, please use the png format as this is prefered, if you can that is. :) —EbonySkyrim Message! 22:45, February 8, 2014 (UTC)

Weel, you have to crop the image first, not resize the whole image. What graphics program do you use? —EbonySkyrim Message! 12:12, February 9, 2014 (UTC)
If you don't have a program on your computer (they are pretty costly) you can use Gimp. It's free for download and it also take png files. They also have manuals on how to make it work.. —EbonySkyrim Message! 12:30, February 9, 2014 (UTC)
Well, the character is still very distorted.. he isn't that thin. What you must do first is to crop the image. Here is an image from my graphics program. You see the whole image taken in the game. Now use the crop tool and measure something you think look alright in proportions and crop the image. Then use the resize and set it to 600x1000px, this is how I do it. I'm not sure how it looks like in Gimp but it's probably similar. Don't lock the numbers. You have to test a few times and maybe change as the character must still look like in the game, no distortions at all. Try it out a few times and you'll find it's not that hard. Then, if it's a dark image, adjust the light, sharpness and so on. Hope it helps. —EbonySkyrim Message! 21:52, February 9, 2014 (UTC)
Much better :) Could do with a bit more light.. but it looks good. —EbonySkyrim Message! 13:00, February 10, 2014 (UTC)
I've deleted the previous images and about the colon, it's so much easier to read and it makes it "clean" ;) —EbonySkyrim Message! 07:55, February 11, 2014 (UTC)

Licensing and category

Hi Ghost, just add in source mode {{GameSubjectImage}} = Game is example: Skyrim and subject: Character, then you get both the category and the licence. Like I did now on the Northwatch Mage image. :) —EbonySkyrim Message! 09:02, February 12, 2014 (UTC)

The reason for that is I'm currently going through uncategorized images and from being almost 2000 I'm now down to about 750 :) —EbonySkyrim Message! 09:39, February 12, 2014 (UTC)
Even though TombRaiser explained it to me I'm still a bit confused. Read here what she said. —EbonySkyrim Message! 11:50, February 12, 2014 (UTC)

Map images

Well, not really but for Oblivion I have this size as it's hard to get any larger image of the map ingames. For Skyrim this map size. If you want the same size, save it to your computer. —EbonySkyrim Message! 17:30, February 14, 2014 (UTC)

Vandalism Reporting

Hey Ghost Anubis, I just wanted to tell you that when you are reporting vandalism, you don't have to write "appears to have been vandalizing..." after the first bit. Just put |(The page's name)}} after the name of the vandalist and it should be good :). > Flugsmith ~ talk // contributions ~ 15:41, February 15, 2014 (UTC)

A farewell?

Hi Ghost, I saw your post on the reevaluation of staff thread and the last part of the message startled me, are you really leaving this wiki? If you do, this is just a farewell I'm advance, I enjoyed talking to you and you were a great chatmod. If I may ask, why are you leaving this wiki? ℳ.Ѻẘεᾔ.ℒℱC Say Hi! stalk edits 10:38, February 16, 2014 (UTC)

Hey Ghost

I saw your message on Tombs talkpage, please do not leave. I was trying to be nice to Ned but he didn't see what he was doing and then it escalated when I wasn't here. I also thought he was stalking but I wanted to be more soft in my approach first. I thought he understood but now in retrospect I realize he didn't. I hope he will restrain himself after the blocking period, otherwise.. —EbonySkyrim Message! 14:19, February 17, 2014 (UTC)

I saw your messages and thought in urging you to stay. What happened with Ned happens very rarely, or doesn't happen at all. When it does, it irrevocably lasts for litte time, as you witnessed with Ned. I hope you reconsider staying. We could always use your additions. —Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 21:03, February 17, 2014 (UTC)
Hey Ghost, I would like to further add to the urge for you to remain on the wiki. Ned has been troublesome ever since he arrived on the wiki, much more so at the beginning than he is now. I would hope when he returns, as he did from his former ban, that he has learnt some lessons and will cease the disruptive activities he has been partaking in. The problem that has been Ned is a fixable one, and I urge you to stay with us. Over the relatively brief period you have been with us, your contributions to the wiki as a whole have been excellent, and I beg you to not let a small problem, like the one you have been having with Ned, drive you away from the wiki. > Flugsmith ~ talk // contributions ~ 21:24, February 17, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Ned1230

Hey Ghost, I know it's frustrating having a user follow every edit you make. Wikihounding comes to mind when thinking about this, and it is a form of harassment. When Ned returns, he is to stop all of his hounding every users recent edits and start making productive edits (productive edits are not mass amounts of minor edits). He will get the chance to prove he has changed. I do hope you will stick around and continue to edit on the wiki.

On another note, there seems to be a little problem with the MorrowindNPCs template with the gender field. In the template itself the field for gender is capitalized, so in order for it to correctly display it needs to be capitalized in the infobox when it's added to an article. This is something that can be quickly fixed by a bot. I may just go ahead and make the change so that every field (minus the RefID and BaseID) are de-capped. That way we all can avoid pointless de-capping and capping of the gender field. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 21:00, February 17, 2014 (UTC)

I hope you don't leave Ghost, you're a cool guy who actually does good for this Wiki. :) I am Sylar (talk) 23:48, February 19, 2014 (UTC)

Sorry you feel that way

Anubis, I saw your message on Tomb's talk page. I'm not trying to stalk you, and I've generally stopped editing the recent activity box for the reasons you stated; everyone seems to think I stalk them more than is comfortable with most. Anyway, most of the edits I fixed on your pages, I believe, was when you said 'a' before words beginning with vowels, which is actually incorrect.  I will try to stop making edits to pages of everyone's, and especially yours, unless it's adding categories, fixing spelling, or any other info I see missing from them. It's nothing personal, and I just meant to review your pages. Ned Tp- Contribs01:27, February 21, 2014 (UTC)

Re ESO images

Hi Ghost, it's Timeoin that usually upload images to use until better ones are provided. He has done this for e.g. Morrowind. Just upload a new version of the image, Captain Kaleen. There should as with the other games, not be any UI or dialogue in them. —EbonySkyrim Message! 09:28, March 1, 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, don't know the console comands for Online. What I do or did before I knew any for the other games, was to edit the image doing cut outs of parts locking similar and pasting them over until I was satisfied and it looked fine. —EbonySkyrim Message! 09:52, March 1, 2014 (UTC)

Vivec, Foreign Quarter

Hi Ghost... nice to see that you can add to the Morrowind pages. But, there should not be any subpages, Tim created those long before it was decided that this was to be. So please merge the info on the subpages for Vivec, Foreign Quarter to this page. Like Foreign Quarter Lower Waistworks... —EbonySkyrim Message! 11:06, March 8, 2014 (UTC)

Yes, add info from all of the subpages and let me know when you have finished. I know it will be a longer article but one doesn't have to add so much, just in general really. And if there are any significant items.. you can see how I did on the Marandus article. It's not that large and there aren't any items really to find but I added each character to each sublocation. Work on it and I'll have a look now and then. —EbonySkyrim Message! 12:02, March 8, 2014 (UTC)
I think it looks fine, even if the list of quests is long... :). I just uploaded a png image, maybe there was a glitch earlier, I had no trouble. I'm going to add something in the infobox that you can use later, it's a pop up script we add when a list of IDs or characters are long or when the location name is very long so it messes with the box. —EbonySkyrim Message! 09:54, March 9, 2014 (UTC)

Apology

Ghost,

I'm so sorry for unintentionally harassing you and making you want to leave. I never intended to hurt someone like you. You have made very good edits, and I even tried to nominate you for patroller recently. I got a bug up my butt about 'reviewing pages,' and now I regret this for many reasons. Please, don't leave, your absence would create a void. Everyone likes you, and you obviously love the Elder Scrolls. I hope you stay with us, it would be a great loss if you left the wiki forever.

I hope we can be friends from now on :)

Ned Tp- Contribs16:07, March 8, 2014 (UTC)

I also forgot to say, is there any way I can repay you? Whatever it is, I'll do it. Ned Tp- Contribs16:14, March 8, 2014 (UTC)

Italicize content

Ghost, use only <i> and </i> before and after, thats all you need to do. :) oh and I was wondering, do you mind if I try and edit your images you have uploaded on Morrowind. They are still a bit dark and yellow. ;) —EbonySkyrim Message! 13:58, March 10, 2014 (UTC)

You can add it on those, I did here, trial and error before I managed... anyway, this one File:Ulms Drathen.png was the same as yours before I fixed the colors.. :) —EbonySkyrim Message! 14:11, March 10, 2014 (UTC)
No, I'm using my graphics program. Paint Shop Pro or Corel as it's called now. There you can fade the colors and make corrections, you get images just as they where taken with normal light and the colors appear. —EbonySkyrim Message! 14:58, March 10, 2014 (UTC)
Looks much better.. :) But if you are buying, Corel with PsP is much cheaper than Photoshop.. —EbonySkyrim Message! 19:32, March 10, 2014 (UTC)
Oh, you already have Photoshop. I thought you didn't have any program, that's why I suggested gimp... Well, I did just a few more to see how they would look but as you now have a good program you can redo the rest. What i do is I lighten the image first, then do a color fade correction, then another color correction, add vibrancy and then darken a little. And sharpen.. —EbonySkyrim Message! 06:43, March 11, 2014 (UTC)

Excisting Png.files

Hi Ghost, if there is already a png file uploaded you should upload in the same name when doing a new version. Just let me know and I can rename the file later. Today I did the same thing, I usually check if the excisting file is a png but I missed three today. Not that good... but it happens. —EbonySkyrim Message! 22:45, March 13, 2014 (UTC)

It isn't about giving more work to admins.. it's about the credit of uploading the image.. :) If the name is wrong, we will rename it. Right now I'm renaming a lot of previous images that where uploaded over the years. Anyway, if you are promoted to patroller, you will be able to rename images yourself. —EbonySkyrim Message! 23:03, March 13, 2014 (UTC)
The counts for the badge... uploaded images. The jpg files you can replace as we prefer png files. And I'm sure you will get to be patroller with the support you have. I just added my vote as I think you have grown a lot in the past few weeks. —EbonySkyrim Message! 23:17, March 13, 2014 (UTC)
I didn't think you were badgehunting, it's mentioned here in the Media policy, others may think but I don't as I think I "know" you now. :) if you can say that over the internet... That's why I voted support too. —EbonySkyrim Message! 23:34, March 13, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Book images

Hi Ghost, it's images with a transparent background. You cut the image out using the magic wand or the lasso tool. Here is a tutorial for photoshop. Once you have done one image like that you can use it very easy to do others of the same type. Read through it and ask me if you get stuck.. :) —EbonySkyrim Message! 09:18, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

I'm not sure how it looks like in Photoshop but it shouldn't be white when locking at it in the program, it should be transparent. Like this Corel imageEbonySkyrim Message! 11:03, March 15, 2014 (UTC)
Great... it is tricky that magic wand tool and it takes some practise. What do you mean "cutting right down the center". Try using the Freehand selection tool, I usually remove a small part with that, then another until all is removed. Then if I'm not happy I remove pixel by pixel with the eraser tool so it looks perfect. It takes some time but then you can use this over and over again by adding a new image over after first using the magic wand in the areas that you want to remove. —EbonySkyrim Message! 11:20, March 15, 2014 (UTC)
Looks good, now you only have to crop the image to only have the actual page. Is that the largest size you get of the book? Have a look at the version I uploaded. —EbonySkyrim Message! 11:46, March 15, 2014 (UTC)
That's great you learned so quickly. :) No.. don't replace it. I can delete the image now. Btw, in a book slideshow we usually don't have more pages than 5-6 or so.. if the text is more we only have the cover, as you might have seen. All will be explained below, everything from my annoying edits to why I seem like such a jerk.

Frankly, I never even had any sources, I was just assuming. I saw that Orcz and ESOhead sucked, that's why I asked you for sources. I haven't really done any 'armchair editing,' and I certainly wasn't sitting in an armchair :). At this point, I'll just add categories and add the region and province to the heads. Hope I don't cause any more trouble

My explanation

I sent this message to everyone who needs to know, needs to understand:

All will be explained below, everything from my annoying edits to why I seem like such a jerk.

Intro

I've pretty much been yelled at for literally everything but fixing leads and correcting grammar. I have no future, no reputation, and no friends, but at this point, I'm so screwed over and my karma is so low, I don't care  about what people think of me. I think being an overenthusiastic newb for too long has really destroyed my patience and tolerance for the largest spectrum of criticisms anyone has ever gotten on this wiki. I'll follow whatever rules you give me, but don't expect me to go hunting new ones. To make myself more well-liked, I tried butt-kissing, looking at the guidelines, trying to redeem myself via chat, trying to come up with one good idea. Nothing's worked so far.

The annoying "badgehunting" edits

To explain my annoying edits, from December to now, it's pretty simple

Back last September sometime, my parents decided they wanted to prevent me from editing. Then, in December, I rediscovered the wiki and made 200 edits in one day. I went up 116 spaces on the Leaderboard that day. I love editing so much, I was being carried away. It was easy to do this on Wikipedia, where I come from, where everyone is a robot and could care less what you do. I made lots of minor edits in the beginning so the pages would sound better to me, like adding commas and such.

I was badgehunting in the beginning, not knowing it was against the rules, until Ebony told me not to.

As I said, I was an overenthusiastic newb with no real experience. I always wanted to help, and as I wanted to more and more, the more trouble I got in:

I had no idea at the time how people were sensitive about their edits. I was reviewing the pages, I wasn't even changing their edits most of the time. However, many people, including me, sometimes have a panic attack or get pissed when someone edits their page. It was hard to step into peoples' shoes online for the first month and a half or so.

To explain why I never used to respond to your messages, that's because I never checked my talk page. When I was adding intro sentences to books, Jimee and Ebony started raving! However, I didn't see their messages, so I was blocked for not responding to their messages, basically.

The second time around was because everyone was sick and tired of me (duh), I was deleting messages on my talk page, 'harassing' Ghost (he edited a lot, so I 'reviewed' his pages a lot), and people thought I was 'badgehunting' again, even though I was really adding ref ids, creating pages, and adding categories to Morrowind articles. I was blocked again, and then I...well, cried, and wondered what it was I was doing wrong, again.

The deleting the talk page messages

You know when you delete old email messages in your inbox, that's what I was doing with the messages. I was adding them to my archive, because I didn't know how to add messages to an archive (I admit I still don't). When Zipper sent me the heads-up, I thought he meant deleting my messages on HIS talk page and replacing them with new ones (I did this on one message because I changed my mind). Then, Zipper, who got all angry, reported me to TombRaiser, which inspired others to report me. Then, all those who I had accused of badgehunting because I was angry I had been accused so many times and the people who thought I was stalking them (pretty much everybody), and all them really wanted me gone.

I didn't check my talk page the second time, and Tomb blocked me. That was the time I cried

Why I seem like a dick

I seem like a dick because I felt hostility towards me so much, I radiated hostility in such large amounts, many were alarmed by the rudeness and hatred from my side, and thought 'look, a gigantic a-hole. Wonderful.' Everyone always expects a courteous answer, and I've learned that. It must have spread through the forums like wildfire, because all the forum mods were permanently attached to my ass for around two months, even though I'd never even stepped foot in the forums for well over a month from when I started editing a lot. Even on chat, I've had battles with people, because I really hate teasing. Once, I got SO tired of it at school, I threatened my friends with not being friends anymore if they kept teasing me. It's probably one of my least favorite things in the world.

Ill fated projects

My very lame projects have included adding intro sentences to book pages (was blocked), badgehunting (was in serious trouble), adding refids and such to Morrowind character pages (blocked), reviewing pages (blocked), chat (got them pissed), and Online pages (trouble). I can never settle on anything, because I'm so closely monitored, almost anything I do gets me into trouble. I honestly have no idea what to do. Ive asked multiple users, yet no one can give me an adequate answer.

Please, if you want any further explanation, or you felt I left something out, I'll be sure to answer whatever questions you have. I'm tired of people not understanding what the hell I'm doing all the time Ned Tp- Contribs 20:39, March 17, 2014 (UTC)

Morrowind pages

Do you mind if I help you make Morrowind pages? I know that's your thing, but I was just wondering. Zippertrain85 (talk) 04:59, March 20, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Articles

Hey Ghost,

Strategies should not be in any article. If you find any articles that contain a strategies section (like Mount Anthor) you can safely move it to the talk page, noting it in your edit summary. PS: Nice signature. :) —TombRaiser SPEAK! 05:45, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

Yup, copy (or cut) the entire Strategies section and texts, and just paste it in the talk page. When I move strategies to the talk page, I usually add the template {{rednote|moved from article}} to the bottom of the text, in place of a signature, because you really don't need to sign that chunk of text. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 05:59, March 23, 2014 (UTC)
Looks good to me, glad I could help :) I wasn't aware there were so many articles out there that still had strategies in them, so I"m glad you brought it up. And, sure you can add me on Steam. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 06:22, March 23, 2014 (UTC)

Moving gameplay advice to talk page

Greetings - We do NOT move redundant, poorly worded gameplay advice to talk pages. There is enough of that there already. And yes, we will continue to delete it as we have for the last year or so. Nothing personal - :-) DarthOrc (talk) 04:39, March 24, 2014 (UTC)

Gameplay advice is not supposed to be on regular pages, therefore we have the right to remove it. As there is no community consus saying so, we do not have a duty to move it to the talk page. To place it on the talk page would imply we agree with said advice and that it is not repetitive.  We feel that the only advice moved to the talk page should be specific to the page (such as Alduin's  possible interactions with the word wall), and not generic ("as with all dragons..."). Gameplay advice that is generic to fighting while at low levels or when fighting higher level foes such as deathlords is repetition. That is not a judgement call on our part, it is a fact.DarthOrc (talk) 05:38, March 25, 2014 (UTC)
We disagree (and we don't like your tone, either). We did not say we would never move gameplay advice to a talk page, we said we would be selective. To blindly cut and paste such would be lazy (and everyone knows we are lazy), to use judgement is part of being a good editor. Nothing we remove is gone forever, it exists elsewhere on this Wiki (or it wouldn't be a duplication). That there are questions about gameplay on the chat is part of what chat is supposed to be there for, the same is true of the forums. Again, not a valid reason to put the same information on talk pages. Have a nice day.DarthOrc (talk) 06:19, March 25, 2014 (UTC)
Everyone be cool and nice. The agreed policy we decided on was all tips and tricks absolutely don't belong on the article itself. It's true that some strategies exist on some talk pages - but this should be strongly discouraged - especially for future pages in ESO. I admit that I myself in one instance pointed people to post strategies on the talk page on the Ebony Warrior page, but this was the lesser of two evils at the time, because I knew for a fact people would fill up this page with a million strategies if I didn't.
