Re: Templates needs editing[edit source]

Hey, thanks for the message. This is due to some old CSS that I haven't gotten around to cleaning up yet. I'll give it a look when I have a moment. —Atvelonis (talk) 01:56, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I've updated the padding property for .pi-data-value (MediaWiki:Common.css/infobox.css), which used to only have padding on the top and bottom, not on the sides. It should look better now: before and after. —Atvelonis (talk) 16:49, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

Re: Winners are not participants?[edit source]

Hello, you are right, I just noticed that too, I believed that these cards were only to winners. Also I have the template for this from that earlier time, so I never noticed. If you encounter these mistakes you can correct them. Thanks. --Rupuzioks (talk) 23:20, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

Re: Perfect formatting[edit source]

Hello, the patrollers are no different from any other editors, we just have the additional responsibility to check and maintain all the edits and make sure that every article is formatted according this wiki's Style and Formatting. However, this page might be slightly outdated as the new changes are being accepted on new Moot discussions, so it is recommended to check at least recent moot summaries too. The edits will be checked anyway, if not by me then by another staff member, this is an open community platform where anyone can edit, so you should not feel being stalked and/or discouraged if your edit is adjusted.

As for your question about the blank parameters, they are still present, because it is easier to change the formatting later, in case there are other styling and formatting discussions and/or changes. All infoboxes are being treated this way, this is not a policy only for the "Legends" articles. --Rupuzioks (talk) 18:20, 2 March 2021 (UTC)

I'm not treating you as a vandal, I'm leaving short summaries to inform any user, not just you, why it was edited, and possibly avoid the formatting confusion later. If the user did not understand what I meant, they are welcome to reach out to me for more details. The same applies to formatting guide, patrollers job, or any other wiki policy. This is what you are doing now, reaching out to me to clear out any confusion or misunderstanding, and I'm always ready to clear these things out, as I explained my reason for editing that article. No one is pointing at you for your edits, the articles are merely adjusted to the latest formatting, which there are still a lot of them to be updated, we just are keeping up with the recent changes, that's why it might look like someone being stalked. We check every new edit, regardless who edited.
I'm aware that is not your fault that the policies might be outdated, that's why I'm leaving those short summaries, unless the editor reaches out for more details. And it is clear that patroller policy page needs updated too, since it suggests that the only job we have to spot vandalism.
For your question about icon linking, we usually do not link to the same page twice in an infobox, but rather link it once in an infobox, and then second time on the article itself, unless the article is very long, then we might link it once more on some relevant section below. The icon is added to the text, because that's how it is displayed on the card in the game, and the one above is for the parameter that lists card's attributes.
I hope that everything is cleared out now, if you still have more questions, you are welcome to contact me again. --Rupuzioks (talk) 22:32, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
I did check the link you posted, and I explained our double-linking policy above. Since you are a fellow staff member on a different language version of TESwiki, I assumed that at least you know what the file linking syntax and additional parameters affect, my bad. Parameter "|link=" make the file behave like a plain text without linking anywhere, including the file itself, that's why I said that it is linked already above.
As a side note, I don't know what policies are implemented on your version of TESwiki, but here we have very strict rules on social communicating. I will ignore your insults, but please keep messages in a civilized tone, because someone might take advantage of it to create an unnecessary drama, which is not tolerated here. This is an official warning. --Rupuzioks (talk) 09:33, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi Hedera. The patrollers actually are required to correct article formatting for all edits, not just new pages—the "Recent Changes Patrol" extension does not make a distinction. I guess their "duties" list didn't directly say that, but it was sort of implicit. I have added it now, just to be clear.
It is also our policy not to remove empty infobox parameters, and I have updated TES:SF accordingly. Editors are 10x more likely to edit an existing page than to create it if it's missing, and likewise they may not realize an infobox parameter can be used if it's missing. You're right that some parameters in {{LegendsCards}} are not applicable to some cards, but these are "edge cases," and it's more efficient for the patrollers to have a simpler policy than to have 15 different bullet points in the style guide about what can stay and what can't. It does not affect the template output either way. As Rupuzioks explained, the more important reason is that having a standardized format makes it slightly easier to do mass infobox parameter adjustments (like, 1000+ edits at once to every single page using a certain infobox). The wiki is indeed written by humans, but humans operate bots like AkulakhanBot (who, BTW, has almost 3x as many edits as my regular account). If a piece of formatting makes it difficult for the bot to edit, that means it's also an inefficiency for humans. The better our maintenance efficiency is, the more time we can spend expanding stubs etc.
The icon is on Painted World twice because one parameter is a data field specifically for the card type, and the other is part of a quote. I don't personally see an issue with the icon link being there though. Icons aren't searchable like regular text is, so I think your edit was fine.
I would also like to say that you are not being treated like a vandal (if you were, you would have been blocked). Your edits to the wiki are useful, and I'm happy to have you here. By making an edit, you are part of the community. Rupuzioks is definitely assuming good faith; he hasn't accused you of being a vandal, he's just providing some feedback. He knows that you're just trying to help out, he's just required to fix edits as best as he can. I sometimes notice that editors take it personally when patrollers correct their work, but it's honestly not something to worry about. It's more important to be open to feedback and to be friendly with other editors than to be perfect all the time. —Atvelonis (talk) 17:10, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
